Carter: I had gotten two customers within the next two hours, so I was pretty much set for the day. Never overdo it, my mother always said. If you overdo it, you'll get old and they'll stop paying. A bit tired, I fix my hair the best I could with my fingers and sit on the bench, ignoring the slightly disgusted stares I get from noble women.

Lucy: Why had Idecided to come in here? What could I possibly want? The jewels were nice, but I could afford better ones. I didn't need to be here. And yet... I start walking through the aisles when I notice a button on one of the steps. I pick it up and frown, turning it over in my hand. This is Edmund's...

Noah: I stick out my tongue. "I'm not drooling. I was just...well, I wasn't drooling." I sit up and yawn. "Besides, it's like I told you before. 'Reading' isn't the right word."

Canary: she absentmindedly started whistling, trying to get her mind off of things for a moment.

Lucy: I suddenly start ringing the bell, trying to stop myself from hurling it through the window. Maybe he just came in here to buy something, I think. He would never actually hang out with this girl. She's beneath him in every way. She's beneath me in every way. So why am I even jumping to conclusions?

Canary: she braced herself and hurried back down the stairs. How many times must she ring that bell? "Yes, Miss?"

Lucy: I hold up the button to her and let out a breath. "Excuse me, but I think you dropped a button?" I ask as politely as I can. I hold it up next to her, obviously not belonging to her poor dress. Even if the initials matched, the button must be worth more than the dress. "Or else it belongs to E.H..."

Canary: she took the button and examined it. "How peculiar," she said, and then her eyes flitted back to Lucy--she presumed. "I remember seeing buttons like this one somewhere. Ah, yes, a fellow stopped by yesterday to pick up a gift. I'll make sure to get it back to him," she said as politely as she could. It wasn't a complete lie.

Re: Oh there's no place like London...
Alright, here's what happened from the next day on. (So far)
The day starts with Lucy, in her wierd/awesome white-dress creepy stage, and I think she's cuddling with Edmund while he sleeps. He doesn't know this. She's gone as soon as he wakes up.
Edmund runs into a servant that tells him that his 'training' to be a lord is to begin that day. Edmund remembers his sister's training, which she describes as horrid, and so he runs away to avoid it. He ends up taking refuge in Canary's home. (Which is the located in the top floor of the shop.)
Meanwhile, Edmund's sister goes beserk and tries to find her runnaway brother by going into town and asking Noah if he's seen him. Noah knows where he is but decides not to tell her.
Then, Lucy (in her normal, pretty, uptight state) walks into the shop to see if Canary held her end of the deal to not sell the locket, which Canary was wearng at the time and was embarassed to find out that it had belonged to Lucy's mother. She then sees that Lucy is wearing the same necklace that Edmund had bought the previous day. Lucy sees one of Edmund's buttons on the shop step and becomes suspicious.
*gasps for breath* Ta-da!
