Edmund: After a few moments of silents, I start humming the same tune I had in the shop. "Think the queen would like a waltz? Or maybe I should stick to opera?"

Canary chuckled. "Why not both? We could use some operatic waltzers in the world." For a moment, it seemed as though things had gone back to normal, but then Canary fell back to Earth, blushed a little, and looked at her hands. After a moment, she sighed. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "I'm the biggest idiot on Earth."

Edmund: I frown and look down. "Don't say that..." I say after a moment. "I'm the oblivious one. If Alice had never told me, I'd still wouldn't know."

Canary: "Oh, don't talk like that," she said, and after a moment, she smiled at him. "You're getting married, Edmund. You'll be happy. That's all that matters, so don't worry about me."

Edmund: "How can I not?" I ask. "You're already one of my best friends."

Canary smiled at that, and then it faded as she looked down at her hands again. "Just...promise me something."

Edmund: "What is it?" I ask.

Canary: "Whatever you do, don't change."

Edmund: I grin. "Of course. There can only be one Edmund Hale! And who would I be if not that?"

Canary chuckled. "A paper doll," she said. She couldn't stand it if he turned into one of those. She started whistling.

I'm kinda REALLY looking forward to the sequel (if Pavie makes one) now, because of the Dustin/Violet thing.

Canary felt slightly giddy when she reached home. They were friends again. She'd expected Edmund to dismiss her, for things to be...well, worse than this. She continued to whistle as she opened the shop door. "Just me, papa," she called, and lead Edmund upstairs.
