C. D. - character development

"Oh!" I blurted out.

Dylan: I laughed at her, "Yeah, I know. Creepy right? Um, no offense to the aliens present."

Amber: I grin slightly. "I didn't know aliens existed" I began. "But then again, if ghosts do, I can't see why they can't exist."

Dylan: I nodded, then on impulse asked, "Was he your boyfriend? Or just a friend?"

Amber- "A really good friend." I sighed.

Dylan: "So...you liked him?" I asked. Usually it seemed when girls had a "really good" guy friend and they said it in that tone of voice they liked him.

Amber: "Well.." I mumur. "I'm not so sure right now.. but, I know this ghost isn't him. That's not what he's like.."

[Hmm, now might be a good time to start my story :L]

(Alrighty)

Dylan: "What do you mean?" I asked curiously.

(xD)

Amber: I shrugged.

Dylan: "Oh, come on," I prodded. "Don't leave me hanging." I sat forward in my chair and propped my head in my hands.

"And we're not aliens in that we come from outer space or anything," I add, leaning back and putting my hands behind my head. "We're just as human as you are. 'Foreign' is probably a better word than 'alien'; we come from different universes."

Dylan: I chuckled and said, "Whatever you want to call it. But to the earthlings, you will always be aliens."

Amber: I grinned to myself.

"But that's the thing!" I protest, a little louder than I mean to. "I'm from Earth, too! It's just a bit different, is all..."

Dylan: "Wait...How can you be from Earth, but an alien?" I asked, utterly confused.

Amber: I watch them curiously as I sit down.

"I told you! I'm just as human as you are, but I'm from a different universe. A parallel one. I was born and raised on Earth. I live on Earth. We wear jeans and text and chew gum and say 'epic' just as much as you do. It's still Earth! I'm still human!"

Dylan: "But it's a different unvierse! It's not this Earth! That makes no sense. At all."

"It's still Earth! The universes are almost exactly the same!"

Dylan: "I'll only believe you if you take me there," I said. Then I stuck my tongue out at her. Real mature, I know.

"I could, but--" I pause, sitting up straight and looking out the window. Blue and white lights shine for an instant before vanishing, and at the same moment, a crack! can be heard even from inside. I run to the door and throw it open.
"Nike!" Peter exclaims, his voice betraying the weariness from shifting. "There you are!"
He's leaning on the side of the house for support, and his shoulders are still heaving. After a moment, he straightens up.
"Come inside," I say. He enters, and I close the door behind him. We both go sit on the couch. "This is Dylan, Feyla, Amber, and the ghost that follows her, Julian. Everyone else, this is Peter."
He gives a small wave.

"Hi." I say shyly.

Dylan: I stared at this Peter guy, then I finally said, "Whoa, man, you just fell from the sky. That's...so cool! How'd you do that?"

Peter turns to me.
"How much do they know?"
"Not an awful lot, but they sort of have an idea..." I shrug.
To Dylan, he says, "I shifted. I used a big amount of my energy to pass from one universe to another. And about 'fell from the sky,' do you mean that figuratively or literally? Because I didn't fall from anywhere. I came in quite on the ground already."

Dylan: "Oh, well...it sort of looked like you fell from the sky. Sorry."
