C. D. - character development

Feyla: Something starts to tug on me, a feeling from beyond time and space. "What the...?" I feel a sudden hot wind and I'm back in my own country. ((sorry, just swapping one character out and another in. Feyla's project is now on long-term hiatus.))

Peter and I just look at each other for a few seconds, blinking.
"Did she just..." I start.
"...shift?" he finishes.

Book Title: Carrion Call
Name: Victor Lourdes
Age: 23
Physical appearance: Light brown hair. Not particularly tall, but quite well-built and in his prime. A long, clever-looking face with a friendly cast to it.
Bio: a painter who gets mixed up in a bizarre plot to kill Queen Victoria.
Extra info: Can't think of any.

The door flies off its hinges as Victor enters, thrown by an unseen assailant. He stands up and looks around, brushing the dust off of his waistcoat. "Hello," he says brightly.

"Well! Don't you know how to make an enterance!"

Dylan: I jumped to my feet and said, "Holy crap! What's going on? Who are you?"

Victor: "I must apologise for my wholly inexcusable entry! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Victor Lourdes, artist and solver of mysteries. I am a resident of Coventry, I was recently involved in a plot against the very life of Queen Victoria, and I have just been thrown trough a door by a Lost Boy. And whom do I have the very great honour of talking with at this juncture?"

"I'm Nike," I answer casually.
"I'm Peter."
Yeah, we're pretty jaded as far as stuff like this goes.
"What's a Lost Boy?" I ask.

Dylan: "I'm Dylan...And dude, speak some English. No comprendo." I sat back down in my chair shakily.

"That's deliciously ironic," I quip. "You tell the man to speak English immediately before speaking Spanish."
"Ni drygaj Pedla?" Peter asks with a grin.
"Come on, I don't even understand that!"
"Well, you should learn. I'm surprised you didn't take it in school, seeing as you come from an A Plane."

Dylan: I laughed at Feyla and Peter. I had no clue what they were talking about, but from my point of view I thought it was pretty funny.

((*pokes* This is Nike, lol.

Also, I don't really have anything meaningful to say. I'll wait for Regret to get back online.

Also also, that gobbledygook that Peter was saying wasn't actually gobbledygook. It was Pedla, a full and fully-functioning language that I made up. What he said ("nih dree-gahzj pehd-lah") was "Do you speak Pedla?" He speaks it, and fluently at that. He also speaks fluent French, but that's another story.))

(Lol! I've mixed up so many charries today! And that's pretty cool. Making up a language. Haha!)

Victor: "You might well ask! They were a gift from the Russian Empire, ostensibly to provide a peace-keeping force as the Russians have little faith in our police system. However, what they are is more of a private army of mercenaries made by grafting metal components onto a condemned criminal. Invariably the poor wretch loses all free will."

"Huh. That's interesting. So your relations with Russia aren't that great? Or are they?"

"They... could be worse. It could be like our relationship with the French. In 1804 they destroyed most of southern England in a radioactive holocaust."

"Goodness," I remarked.
"I spent two years in a universe where the French were all but destroyed in a nuclear war," Peter said thoughtfully. "Needless to say, the refugees flipped out when they met Senet."
"And then when they saw your powers," I added dryly.
"...Yeah. They tried to kill us at that point, actually."

"Hm. It seems that that sort of thing goes both ways then. So who's this 'Senet'?"

((By the way, his name is pronounced "suh-nay" :3))

"He's one of our teamates," I answered.
"He and I are like brothers," Peter added. "He's also French. He's actually the one who taught me to speak French. We spent two years together stuck in a parallel universe. We were eight at the start of it."

"That is a reasonable explanation, I suppose. So how do you find life to be, what with the marked influence of multiple dimensions? I understand that Young disagrees with the idea of ether, but I personally thought it to be a logical explanation of the medium through which light moves."

((*realizes that she just wrote her last posts in past tense* *will do that from now on*))

"Ah, passing through the universes is our job," Peter said. "No, really, it is. We're Scouts, so we document information all over the Planar Universe. Okay, well not all over it, but the parts that humans and their allies are generally familiar with."

Victor: "That sounds difficult. I have trouble navigating around Coventry, and it isn't really that large. Ever met a Lost Boy?"

Dylan: I piped up and said, "I am a lost boy." Seriously, listening to these aliens was starting to give a headache, and I definitely was lost.

"We've never met the ones you're describing," I said.
"The Planar Universe is frickin' huge," Peter added. "There are thousands of human planes, let alone the planes of other species. And we still have undocumented human planes. Navigating them isn't too hard, since we can feel for the planes in our heads, but we generally keep maps of waypoints and stuff to make the traveling process easier."

Dylan: I shook my head and leaned back into my chair.
