Skipper hits a few buttons, and tosses the disc into the centre of the room, where it hovers about an inch from the beige carpet. In a flash, the walls appear to melt and disappear, to be replaced with open grassland under a brick-red sky. the grass is purplish, as are the leaves of the mighty trees that sparsely dot the landscape. "Ack. It's the bloody nature channel. I was after something a bit harder to handle. Oh, well."

((Now populate the grassland! I want suggestions for alien creatures. Some predators, some prey. Nothing TOO cute though, please.))

Penny: I was starting to wonder if I should have asked to watch this.

((Sure! Although the colouration would of course be a bit different, to camouflage itself in this environment. Purple is a predominant colour, although yellow and orange also feature a lot.))

"This is excellent!" Peter and I said in unison, before looking at each other and shrinking a little.
"See, it's just that," Peter began before stopping himself and starting over. "Gathering information about the universe is our job, and you're a species that humans, vreshnik, and ai'reija don't even know about. So, uh, we'd get a looooooot of credit for reporting stuff about your race, planet, everything to our superiors. That, among other things..."
I looked over at a large creature that was grazing a little ways away. It had large, curving horns that stretched out and down by the sides of its face. Its pelt was shaggy, colored with a striped pattern in muted purple tones. Its wide, glassy eyes blinked, the lids meeting on a vertical line. It swished its tail lightly as it ate, its long ears flicking. It almost looked like a cow, save for the fact that it stood on digitigrade paws. It didn't seem as bulky as a cow either, but it certainly had a lot of meat on its bones. If it had bones, that is. Peter and I both took out our data pads, tapping away at the touch screens. Izzy said the data pads themselves looked like some technology from her home plane called iPod Touch. I wasn't really sure what that was, though.

((EDIT: "Earth hues" changed to "muted purple tones." Just wanted to make sure you saw. I didn't quite know the colors of the world at first.))

"Purple flora," Peter commented. "Some of those plants look like the blue ones from the vreshnik planes."
"Oh, yeah, they do," I agreed.
"Think this could be on the other side of the vreshnik?"
"Maybe."

"I see you've found the natural food animals." Skipper half-smiles. "You can touch it if you like. That's the beauty of the virtual space bubble. You can feel it, but it can't feel you. That's an Ort, by the way. That's why the Hoort clan have their name, being heavily into Ort-meat."

"Um, excuse me, Skipper," Peter started, "can you tell me some of the lore of your world? Legends? Mythical creatures?"
"Trying to see if vreshnik have been here before?" I asked Peter.
"Exactly. Or anyone else, for that matter."

"I don't go in for much in the way of folklore. That's not for the hard handling space-jumpers like me, although we do hold that the universe is controlled by threads that attach to the planets like a child's puppet, but the threads are so fine that you can actually pass through them without ever noticing. They're so sharp that they slip between your constituent atoms without leaving a trace of their passing." She stops and glares at them for a moment. "And for some reason a lot of our folk-demons in latter years only have two arms. We hold that all two-armed species are the less-fortunate cousins of our race, and were thrown out of the heavens for some crime or other, but I personally think that that's a lot of old Ort-droppings."

"Are you okay? I don't mean to upset you. I just thought you'd like to see my Earth." Skipper shrugs, which is quite something to watch, as she shrugs all four shoulders at once.

"No, I should be sorry. You've never even seen anything that isn't human-derivative before, have you? Except animals, of course." Skipper's expression softens. "I reacted a lot worse when I met my first human-derivative."

"Two-armed folk-demons," Peter murmured as he typed the words on his data pad. "Interesting."
"Oh, remember that vreshnik plane that considered humans mythical creatures?" I asked, smiling faintly.
"How could I forget?" he countered, a grin touching a corner of his mouth. "Nearly died there." He touched his neck absently. "Those paranormal fanatics were insane. Of course, we could've handled it easily if it weren't for the Sybek."
"Definitely."

"I mean, the first time I saw a person with only two arms and pinkish skin, I completely freaked. I thought the Gringo Monster had come to eat me. You're taking all of this very well." Skipper places one of her greenish-blue hands on Penny's shoulder.
