Eh, modern day, but no, like, in our world; people are very well aware of the Haunted and such, some Haunted can get respectable jobs if they have a talent, like, amazing cupcake making or something.

but how are our characters going to meet? Do they go to the same school or...?

Well, they could, or they could see something like, a Haunted talking to a ghost who only they can hear, or a Keeper is tracking down a Haunted or something. But, yeah, school is a good idea.

Faylinn
I awake, feeling the sun. It's morning, though i don't see it. "Mama?"
<I'm here.> I smile up at her. Just a white shadow of a person in my darkness, but i still see her. I don't know what i'd do without her.
"There's no Keepers, right?"
<None around right now.> She looks around.
I nod. "Good. I don't want to lose you."
<I'm staying Faylinn. I'll always stay...>

Devon: I walked along the sidewalk, headphones on my messy blonde head. My fingers tapped to the beat, tapped on whatever I found. I warped the song, it was some pop tune but now it was a song of my own creation. I smirked to myself, I never got bored of this.

Cyan:
I walked down the crowed school hallway. The other student's voice's are just buzzings in the background. Bzzzzz. Bzzzzzzz. Like bees, tee hee. But one voice cuts out across the noise like a knife. "Cyan, darling, do slow down!" Even though the voice is loud and clear, only I hear it, and only I see the girl racing down the hall. Anna runs up. She has been twenty- four for as long as I've known her. Since I was six. She pauses, as if to catch her breath, though she never has to. "Dearest, you know I hate running!" The woman says. "I'm sorry, Anna. I didn't realize you'd be here today." Anna smiles warmly at me. "That's quite alright." People are giving me strange looks, because they can't see me, so Anna wraps a protective arm around my shoulders and we continue down the hallway.

Gray
I sigh. Another day, more of the usual. "Can i skip today?"
"No."
I turn to Ai, suddenly appearing beside me in the hall. "You're not supposed to be out of the Valley, you know," i remind her for another time.
"And if i don't you'll never do your job as a Keeper." She smiles warmly up to me. It's strange to see her in such normal clothes. She usually goes all fantasy. Long cloaks, ancient looking dresses...

Peter:
This city was teeming with Haunted. Ugh. Like moths to a flame. Like evil, demonic, demented moths to the sweet, innocent flame of humanity.

Lena: My cane clacked on the tile of the school, though no one could hear it. Unless they were haunted or a ghost. I was feeble-looking, but those ghosts knew better than to try me. Small but mighty, that's what I was. And this school was just overflowing with haunted, so I needed to make sure that ghosts were nowhere near, too.

Faylinn

"I don't see the point. I don't need it." I stand from the floor of the forclosed home i had slept in.
She floats on ahead and points out the door's handle which i grip and open, going out to the city's streets.
"I don't need anything else but you, Mama." She weaves in and out of the people and i follow exactly. I can just imagine the looks of people. A girl, talking to herself. How odd. i don't care. They don't know a thing about me.

Ai
Gray grumbles to himself and i smile. "You know, there might be Haunted in this very school. this very hall, even!"
"All the more reason i shouldn't be here..." He looks towards the window, not paying attention to where he was going. I just know he's going to trip and fall on something...

Cyan:
"See you later, hon!" Anna calls out to me. I wave to her and someone shoves into me. "Outta the way, demented girl." I just sigh and sit in the back of the classroom.

Ai
Gray yawns as he steps into his classroom. Maybe i pushed him too late last night... But then he stayed up another two hours after. I didn't see how he managed to get to senior year...
I step into my own class, my senses pointing out a Haunted. I sit next to her and smile over. "Hey, have we met?" (Cyan)

Cyan:
I realize there's a girl talking to me. I look up at her. "Probably not." I say. "Are you... Dead?"

Ai
I smile kindly. While others who have overheard her look at her strangely, i give a look of understanding. "No, but i know of them."

Devon: I walked into class and the teacher tried to get me to take off my headphones. Not happening.

Cyan:
This catches my attention. "Are you Haunted?" I ask, my voice low.

Peter:
I saw a boy being defiant(Devon). All my instincts told me that he was Haunted. No wonder he was such a rebel. I frowned at him and purposefully sat as far away from him as possible.

(Peter is slightly prejudiced, so please don't take offense)

Devon: I didn't even notice the guy, and just kept tapping away to the music.

Faylinn
I pause when i hear the bell. "You took me to school anyways."
<You should value your education, Faylinn.>
"I don't wanna."
<For me?>
I pout and walk into the class. "Fine..."

Ai
I shake my head but keep my kind smile. "I won't take your ghost away though. Don't worry."
