Envy
After he had left, I sat in my chair for a long while- those thirty minutes before closing that I had told him about. Then I stood and slid the cards into a pocket of my dress. Naturally, since I had been inclined to stay low lately- and the salary I was getting from the circus wasn't quite enough to cover the costs of renting an apartment close to here- I had been staying in my tent ever since I had left the Joker

The tent itself was divided into halves. The first half- the one with the only exit, and the one with my table- was cut off from the other half by a curtain. I went into that back half where I had a sleeping bag, several ragtag pieces of small furniture such as a mini drawer and a small night stand, and a large suitcase.

I selected another dress- green like the one that I had been wearing, but less showy- and began to get ready for my date.

Bruce

I peek into the tent, see the front business area empty, though I still hear her behind the back. I step into the space in trained silence, sitting in the chair I had been in a few hours before to wait.

Envy
I, somewhat hesitantly, walked back into the business section when five o'clock rolled around... when I saw him standing there already. Trying to keep surprise off my face, I chuckled, mentally calling his uncanny silence almost Batman-like. I was wearing the dress- strapless- a pair of high heels, and a smile.

"So you were serious about this date thing, hmm?" I ask, walking over to him "Hope you haven't been waiting long"

Bruce

"Not long at all." I stand again, offering an arm for escort. "If I wanted more fortunes, why wouldn't I come? Are honest businessmen that rare now a days?"

Envy
My mind flashes to Pride, and I laugh, taking his arm "Honest businessmen? There are hardly any honest men in the world at all, now a days, let alone ones that exist in the business one, Bruce"

Bruce

"You're lucky to know one then," I say with a chuckle, leading her out to the car and opening the passenger door for her. I've played actor plenty of times to get closer to enemies. Gone 'under cover' with my true identity for all sorts of situations. Going out to dinner with a questionable ex-Joker follower was...one of the more interesting... Not in terms of what might happen at such an event, that would probably be typical. But simply the thought of it... that underneath the coverup of her arms was such a secret as that.

Envy
I gave my pocket a light pat to assure myself my cards were still in there... The feeling that he had some other motive didn't just reappear- it had actually never left. It left me wary, especially with that ace... but I didn't feel like my life was in danger. For now. So I just chuckled at his comment, and slid into the passenger seat.

Bruce
I close the door afterwords, her gesture not going unnoticed. Something in her pocket then, and most likely her cards. Which is both suspicious but not. Weapons, sure, but it would make sense if she left Joker. Again, she disappeared for a few months for a reason.
I go around to the driver's side, getting in and pulling out to head to the city. "Sushi or Italian?" I ask her with a sly smile.

Envy:
Ah, the problematic choices one is faced with when dining with one of the richest men in America... "Italian, please" Another laugh. I wondered why I seemed to be doing that so much, as I toyed with the hem of my dress.

Bruce

My smile widens as I recognize the laugh, the fidgeting. "Nervous, Miss Envy? There isn't any reason," I say as reassurance, though usually me noticing such things makes women fret more. Italian it is. I hadn't made reservations for it, but I owned the restaurant I was planning to take her to. So no issues.
Traffic was light, and things were moving well. I reach across and take her fidgeting hand in mine, peeking over in the corner of my eye. "It's simply dinner."

Envy
I let my hands drop from my dress, resting at my sides as I glanced up at him. Then he took my hand, and I winked "Nervous? Me? Of course not, Bruce. Why, do you feel like you have some intimidating effect on poor, innocent little women like myself?"
He did bring up a good point though, perhaps I was somewhat nervous. Not from the reasons he seemed to suspect, though; the fact that I knew him from somewhere else hung heavy in my mind.

Bruce

"Not intimidating. ...Just..." I have to think on that, for a moment. "... desirable, in one way or another. Not to sound self conceded. But money attracts a...certain type... Looks attract another... As you said, it's hard to find honesty anymore. Which is why I like going to odd places to find less...self centered and greedy women...." I frown slightly at the crowds that seem to just gravitate around me. The paparazzi, the people who want to be 'friends', and the villainous crowd...

Envy
"So you look for less greed in a woman named Envy?" I asked, raising an eyebrow "You have interesting tastes, to be sure..." My voice is light and teasing, and I look down at our hands together. Something about it makes me strangely uncomfortable, but another thing makes me want to leave my hand there for a while longer... I mentally frown at myself and draw my hand back, resting it on my lap.

Bruce

"You didn't have a choice in your name, why should I judge it?" Though she draws her hand away. I replace mine to resting on the center console comfortably. "There are some odd names in rich society. Envy isn't all that odd to me."

Envy
"You think Envy is my real name, then?" I ask, giving a hand-wave "No, it's a stage title, something to go by in the circus crowd... though highly preferable to my given one, so I've taken to the habit of using that in place of the other"

Bruce

I raise my eyebrows and give a surprised face at her, completely genuine except I didn't actually feel the emotion. "Do I get your real name, since we're off the circus stage?" I ask with a playful smile, exiting off the highway and heading into the skyscrapers.

Envy
"A lady is entitled to her secrets, isn't she?" I asked, turning my eyes to the towering buildings out the window. Coming from a small town, I still wasn't completely used to the city of Gotham...

Bruce

"Hmmm....but so impersonal...." I murmur, paying attention to the road now. City drivers and street walkers could be idiots sometimes.

Envy
"I suppose" I replied simply, then lapsing back into silence. Fidgeting again, I mentally scolded myself as I realized I had gone back to messing with the hem of my dress. Honestly, I wasn't sure what was the source of my creeping nerves...

Bruce
I give a second's glance over to her, wondering about her hesitation. She didn't have a reason to hide it. 'Envy' was more suspicious for those who knew the 'name' of the Joker's right hand girl, why hide her name?
Silently, I pull up beside the restaurant, going around to the passenger side and offering my hand to her. "Miss Envy, then," I say, smiling kindly. Patience. Things would come out with time, it was understandable that she didn't trust me. Even if this had to go on for a while, I'd get answers.

Envy
I was quick to return his smile, but more cautious around him now, and I stood on my own with nothing but a glance towards his outstretched hand. "Thank you" Appreciated that he respected my wishes... it wasn't that I was necessarily ashamed of the past; but it was far from something I would want to be reminded of through a name like that...

Bruce
I simply respect her wishes, closing my car door and giving the valet my keys. No touching anymore, then? Why so sudden... "Something amiss?" I ask her, walking beside her to the building and then guiding her to the elevator. I stop to wait for the elevator to arrive after pushing the button.
I chuckle. "You didn't have to come if you didn't want to. You don't have to go to such extreme lengths to prove your cards right," I tease lightly, looking over.

Robin

I've been jittery. I just can't...sit still anymore, yet I spend most of my time in my room. It's there. It's right there; all the information i could possibly need to find Zucco... Just...in the false bottom of my trunk, sitting inside of the large closet from the day it was moved there when I came to this place. Wayne Manor.

Bruce wasn't a help though. He stopped me, he was an /enemy/. I needed this, I needed to get Zucco. If it meant my life too, Zucco would be ended.

But not yet.

Last outing had been too...risky... Too much revealed to that girl. That...that girl. It didn't matter. But there - I glance across my room to my closed closet doors, pausing in my pacing - the solution so close. Red X. X indicating an unknown variable. Socially, denoting an error. Politically: a choice. What had made me make the wrong choice? I was no good do-er at all. I needed red. I needed that man's blood, as the ground had apparently needed it so much from my parents. So parched, it just...took their blood.

The papers though, from the station... While I needed to wait because of the reveal of too much last go, I needed to hurry. I might have erased all trace of the documents I got, but Bruce...something got in his mind and it ate at him. It wouldn't go away until he found out why. At the same time, I needed to hurry before he found out. Right?

Of course. Don't doubt yourself. You /need/ this.

Zucco was in the high security penitentiary Belle Reve. Couldn't...not alone. Papers said he had kids. Twins. They wanted him out. They wanted him dead too, they could be...persuaded to help. I smile to myself slightly. Continue pacing. These random hints, information that kept popping up without warning from the fog of my head... They were great. Promo-codes or something. Except with that girl. Spades...

"Spades," I speak quietly, almost not at all, and it sounds like a plea. A weak, stupid, pitiful little plea. Why did she bother me so much? She shouldn't bother me so much. I had my mission. It needed to be done.

It needed to be done very soon...

...Jittery. I can't just sit and do nothing anymore. I continue pacing.

I'm just aware of the pain of my chest and the lyrics that keep going through my mind, proclaiming a drive, a /need/ to do this. Nothing else. Yet I touch my lips lightly, feeling them move without really...wanting it. They mouth 'Spades'.

...She'd have to go, wouldn't she? Not until after Zucco though.
