Conor:
"Oh no, I know magic can happen but it has to have some science to it, you can't take something out of nothing. Remeber your Law of Conservation of Mass. Alchemy takes atoms reforms where they are placed and shifts the electrons and protons around to make a substance out of a different substance. But, we can't make gold, its not impossible we don't because that throws off the wealth of the world"

"No one knows how magic works," replies Carter. "Except badly."

Conor:
"Yah well I still think magic isnt as powerful as some simple alchemy" I say leaning back in my chair.

"That's because you think you know about magic," replies Carter. "And because you know nothing of the Great Old Ones. What we call magic is a branch of physics that can only be understood by a truly broken mind."

Ruby: If I can just slowly ease the door open, I can escape without these wierdos noticing. I gently turn the handle and pull.

As Ruby eases the door open, the trees shiver in an unnoticeable breeze. The bushes quake, but the air seems still. A cloud has covered the sun, and there is a faint sound of thunder far off.

Conor:
"Uh oh looks like you made someone mad by trying to escape" I say but just in case I materialize a six foot long sword just in case.

((Six feet long... good luck wielding that in a corridor!))

"What've I done?" murmurs Carter.

Conor:
"I don't know but I do not like it. With this crap going on I might have to make a homunculus, even if its forbidden"

"How would that help?" asks Carter. "Ablative shielding?"

Conor:
"No, Homuncli are amazingly skilled at combat"

"Please don't!" gasps Carter. "Anything but that. We don't want a trained killer possessed by the mind of Cthulhu!"

Conor:
"Homunculi are actually trained to keep their minds under lock and key nothing can take thier minds over because they don't have normal minds, they don't even have a brain! But they are still devilishly smart, well Greed, Lust, Pride, Wrath, and Envy are anyway" I say, "Sloth and Gluttony are just idiots"

"No locks or keys can protect from the might of the Great Old Ones. Nothing mortal or magical, scientific or philosophical except..." Carter stops. "Draw this symbol on them, and they will be safe."
He scrawls a five-pointed star with a three-lobed burning eye within it on a piece of paper.
"This should do the trick."

Conor:
I look at it thoughtfully, "I'll put that and the Oroboris tattoo on them then" I take a deep breath and draw a circle on the ground with a chalk line. Then I etch symbols in it and start performing alchemy.

carter looks on with interest.

Conor:
Blue alchmical sparks bounce around on the lines. Then a beautiful woman appears in the middle of the circle an oraboris tattoo on her shest and the symbol that carter drew.

Carter raises his eyebrows and whistles. "That's a homunculus? I can see why you like them," he observes.

((The Elder Sign will protect against most Things, but it won't protect against Mi-Go, the great Race of Yith, or one or two other things. However, the Mi-Go are not overtly hostile, and the Great race of Yith are quite reasonable when you get to know them. However, if I bring in some of my horror stuff, it will be useless against the Homo Lacertus and Chief Inspector Grimmesald.))

Conor:
"Hello Lust!" I say smiling at her.

Lust:
"Good to see you again Conor" I say smiling at him, "So why exactly am I here?"

Conor:
"You are the most cunning homunculus so your here for security. I was considering bringing Greed too. Your thoughts on that?"

Lust:
"Maybe if things get bad" I say shrugging

"Why lust?" asks Carter. "And why the seven deadly sins?"
