Sound of Madness

"Then I'll just get revenge for your revenge for my revenge..." Carly trailed off, then smiled again.

"You wouldnt be able to." derek laughed. He couldnt stop himself when he saw her smile. As if his body acted against him, his lips pressed to hers.

Carly blinked in surprise, and found herself kissing him back. But then she realized that this was probably a joke like earlier, and pulled away with a frown. "It wasn't funny last time, and it's not funny this time, Derek! Quit playing with my feelings." She pulled herself out of the pool and stomped over to where their stuff was.

Derek mentally kicked himself and jumped out of hte pool. He ran over to her and grabbed her arm. "I wasnt trying to play with your emtions..ok maybe i was earlier but not right now. Not that kiss." He stammered to her.

Carly shook her head as she pulled on her shorts and top over her bathing suit, not caring that it was wet. "Seriously, it's not funny. I'll walk home." Apparently she still thought he was kidding.

"It wasnt meant to be funny...why dont you believe me?" He stepped infront of her and put both hands on her shoulders. "That kiss...It wanst meant to hurt you in anyway."

"Maybe I don't believe you because everything's a joke to you." Carly for some reason was glued to the spot, though she wanted to shove his hands off. "And you said just yesterday that you didn't like me...that way." Wait, maybe he hadn't exactly straight out said it, maybe she had just assumed from the way he acted.

"Listen to me....That kiss wasnt a joke. That was me, for once in my life, showing my emotions to someone. To you." Derek told her, his eyes staring into hers. "I never said that i didnt like you that way. YOu just thought i didnt."

Carly eyes were locked on his, but she bit her lip and looked away. She wanted to believe he was lying, just because that was how Derek was: a liar. But he seemed so bent on getting her to believe him...So she looked back into his eyes and nodded. "Then I guess I have to believe you, don't I?"

"You dont have to. I would love it if you did, but you dont have to do anything you dont want to. You dont have to believe me." He sighed, not wanting to force anything on her. He dropped his hands off her shoulder and shoved his shirt in his bag and shouldered the bag. "But im not letting you walk home. Its over two miles and you are soaking wet."

Carly wanted to say that she did, truly believe him, but she wasn't so sure. So many different things were running through her head, so many different feelings were making her feel all confused right now. So she just nodded. "Okay." That was all she felt like saying.

"Would you like to go home now or not?" He asked her, watching her as he spoke. he really messed up and didnt know how to fix this.

"Yeah, let's go home," Carly mumbled, not meeting his eyes, and turning to leave the pool.

Derek nodded and went out to his bike and shoved his bag in and took out the helmets. He offered to take the bag from her and waited for her to pass it to him.

Carly handed it to him and put on her helmet. This would be interesting...having to hold onto him on the way home after that.

Derek put the bag in the seat and climbed onto the bike and reved it up. "Hold on." He mumbled to her.

(lol, i feel bad for derek. He opens up and she thinks he's joking...)

Carly held on reluctantly.
When they got back to the house, a very annoyed-looking Devon was on the porch. When he saw Carly and Derek on the bike, his eyes narrowed. He hopped down the porch steps.
"Why the hell are you on that thing?" He said to Carly, anger in his voice.

Carly slid off of the bike and grabbed her bag. "We went to the pool."

"On /that/?"

"Yeah."

"You know how I feel about motorcycles!"

"So? I'm old enough to make my own decisions!"

"And I told /him/ not to take you on it!" Devon glared at Derek.

"Don't worry, I won't be going on it anymore," Carly said quietly and slipped into the house. Devon sent Derek one last glare before following his sister.

(I know, I feel bad about that, too >.> but I mean, he was joking last time, it wouldn't have been a surprise if he was that time, too)

Derek sighed when he saw devon. He was such and idiot! Why did he have to kiss her! he went inside and went up to his room, slamming the door behind him.

Madeline walked in on a very tense room, with Devon and Carly. She looked between the two of them and soon left the room.

"You're grounded," Devon said.

"You can't do that, you're not my father!"

"I wouldn't have to be if it weren't for the stupid motorcycle."

"Shut up about that already! Derek didn't kill me, it's okay."

"Not /that/ motorcycle, Carly! The one that killed Dad," Devon's voice softened.

Carly gulped and wheeled around, running up the steps and into her room. She forgot to close the door, just flopped onto her bed and cried. Today was a wreck.

Madeline poked her head into the room once carly ran out. "is it safe to come in?" She asked softly.

Devon's jaw was tight as he glanced at Madeline. "I guess," He said, though he wasn't in much of a mood to talk to her. Well not Madeline in particular, just anyone.

Madeline walked in slowly, and sat down on a chair. "You ok?" He asked, noticed he was tense.

"Carly's just being stupid again, that's all." Devon ran a hand over his face, as if to wipe away the stress shown on it.

"You cant try to control her...She's just going to push away from you." She tried to advise him. "Derek wont let her get hurt...you should know that."

"Not on purpose. Everyone makes mistakes. It's easy to make one on a motorcycle," Devon countered.

When Carly was finished, she went to the mirror and wiped the goopy makeup off of her face. Finding some dry clothes, she pulled them on and brushed out her damp hair. It was easy to pretend like nothing was wrong.
