Sound of Madness

(Hm... well, they're done eating... should they go sit on the couch again or something?)

Dana walked back to the living room and picked up her book.

Max: I found a pencil on the floor. Now to find paper. I tapped the pencil on my knee.

Dana opened her book to the page she'd marked earlier.

Max: I found a random sheet of notebook paper lying on the table. When I saw it was blank, I decided I could use it. Now I didn't know what to draw. I glanced over and saw Dana reading and decided to sketch a book.

Dana: *reads*

(no idea what to do with derek..)

Max: *sketches*

Someone should interrupt Dana and Max

(okay, I'll post for Carly again then)

Carly remembered Derek had been listening to music. She went and grabbed her own headphones. She could go sit next to him, and listen to music, and not say anything. Try and think of a plan...? It was better than just sitting here. Carly went down to the patio and sat a little bit away from him, glancing over once before she started her music.

Derek glanced over to her and nodded as she sat down next to him. He truned down his music slightly so it wasnt blasting too loud.

Carly sighed slightly, maybe this wouldn't help. She flicked through her music, trying to find a song she liked.

Derek glanced at Carly again and sighed. He wanted the awkwardness between them to go away.

Carly didn't think it was awkward as much as /tense/. She bit her lip and looked down at her fingernails, checking for chips in the paint. Maybe she could find a song to apologize...but that was stupid and cliche, wasn't it?

"you ok?" Derek finally asked, seeing her look at her nails.

Carly turned off her music and looked over at him, she hadn't heard what he said. "What?"

"You ok?" Derek asked a bit louder.

Carly shrugged. "Depends. I'm okay...in general. I'm not okay when it comes to certain things though. Like you. Like...us." If there was an us.

Derek glanced at her and turned off his music so he could hear her better. "Im sorry, i must have miss heard you. you arent ok about us? What are we?" He asked, his voice still slightly bitter.

Carly gulped and looked down at her fingernails again. "Well, I thought we were something. Did you decide that's over or something?"

"I thought you made it pretty clear that we were 'just a fling'." Derek mumbled, and look down at his iPod.

"That's not what I said, I said that it /felt/ like that. You think that I'd want "just a fling" with the guy I've had a crush on for, like...I don't know, since we met?" Carly said, glancing up at him.

Derek shrugged and wouldnt meet her eyes. "I dont know. I'm jsut going by what you said." She probably didnt realize that he was never really good at this 'romance couple' thing.

"If you don't have your own opinion, then you probably don't care," Carly said quietly.
