The Character Break Room

T.Mor:

"WHO SHOULD I TALK TO THEN HUH? MY HOMICIDAL BOSS? ONE OF MY FACELESS COWORKERS IN THE SAME SITUATION? MY SISTER WHO'S...USING ME? HUH? IF YOU'RE MR. ANSWERS THEN...TELL ME THAT!" I was quite mad now...Not really sure why. I didn't even notice that he had let go of Marley or that they had changed the subject.

Sorry, Marley is harsh sometimes. Blame it on her species.

Marley
"Back to the emo" I groaned, sitting up and rubbing my ribcage "And no, I don't know what it's like to feel all of your relationship drama, but I do know how it feels to have much worse crap happen. Yet am I emoing? No. No I'm not"

Peter

"Honestly, a lot of us have problems, too," I added. "The difference between you and us, however, is that we deal with them. We don't complain constantly. We don't endlessly bitch and moan about things we can't fix."

"You don't think I've thought about that either? Liz has told me to but it never works. You don't think I know I'm going to be left behind? And...I don't want to think about it...because it scares me."

(I know. He does eventually let go. I'm on my nook so I can't post a link but go on youtube and look up Say Goodbye by Black Lab. It sums up Andrew's feelings.)

Marley
"Ahk. I'm going to leave now. Before I start crushing souls" I said quickly, before slipping through the door back to the chats and dissapearing

Great. Now Marley had left, and he felt like crap. Andrew shook his head, "T. Mor, talk to one of us. We're here for you, okay? And Peter, talk to Sarah or Senet or one of us."

Peter

"What if I don't want to talk?" I asked. "My gods! There's nothing to even talk about! You want me to talk? I lost my home and my family. I lived for two years in a hellhole of a city. I accidentally killed a guy when I was eight. I trained with the bonders to become a Scout so I could A, have a place to live and B, work against the Sybek in any way possible. There. Sum of everything. What has this accomplished?! It's nothing new! The only thing you've managed to do is get me even more worked up! How does this fix anything?!"

"It helps...to not go insane. At least, it does for people like me." Andrew said quietly.

T.Mor:

I sighed."You really want the summary? Here it goes. My parents were killed by my boss for tax evasion when I was 8. I spent a year as a human punching bag...erm. I mean in guard training, only finding out then that my parents were killed for being in crippling debt. My sister manipulates me dailyand I torture and kill people daily, so that I can afford my own cost of living, and my sister. Really I have no reason to sustain myself, as I am a horrible person. My house is falling apart around me and I can't afford to do anything..." I summarised harshly. "Sometimes I don't even see the point in living."

"Find somethung then. I hate to sound cliché but when it seems like there is nothing left, hope seems to find itself." said Andrew, giving him a weak smile.

Peter

"Andrew," I began, "this has accomplished nothing. It doesn't help! The only thing you're having us do by talking about it is reliving the memories we're trying very hard not to relive! Unlike you and your emo friends, we don't enjoy wallowing in self-pity!"

T.Mor:

"I'd like to request a subject change." I agreed quietly.

"Look! I'm sorry I'm "emo" or "selfish"! I never said I wasn't! You don't think I've tried to do what you're doing?! For people like me, if we hold onto the past....we go insane and if we hold on to the present...we go insane! I'm sorry I don't want to be what you call a "residual haunting"! Before I met Liz, I was almost at that point! She got me out of that...and I'm sorry if I don't want to go back!" Andrew said, glaring at Peter.

Peter

"Then I'm surprised you're not insane yet," I told him flatly, "since you hold onto the past so much. And really, you need to move on already. Face the damned facts! You're dead, Liz is not, and that's reality. One of the reasons you annoy me so much is that you make no sense!"

"Fine, I'll tell her." said Andrew, looking away. "I'll tell Ezra too." And with that he faded, disapearing to keep his word.

Cricket
I dropped out of the void and landed in the Break Room again. "Ah...what'd I miss?" I stood up, dusted myself off and leaned against my wall again.

Speedy
I walked into the break room, feeling severely underwritten and lacking in pie.

Peter

"Um...angst, a couple of slappings," I answered Cricket. "And I think I finally began to get some sense in Andrew's brain."

Cricket
"Ah. Nothing like a good slapping t' pass th' time...so, is it over? Th' angst and such? Because quite honestly, there's a limit t' 'ow long I can 'old an angst b'fore I get all...ah...normal-ish, and I think I've passed that limit."

Andrew appeared next to Ezra, who was eating cereal at the kitchen table. Ezra jumped a foot in the air. "Dude...what the-" he started to hiss but Andrew interrupted him.

"I'm going to do it."

"You're going to do what?" asked Ezra. He was growing impacient.

"I'm going to let go of Liz. Now's your chance. You screw this up and I'll haunt your arse." said Andrew, before disapearing.

Ezra sat dumfounded. Andrew really was going to do it.

Andrew appeared a few feet away from Liz. They were outside in her backyard. She sat on a bench underneath the shade of a weeping willow. Her brown hair blew softly in the wind as she looked up, seeing him. Andrew felt the urge to run, but he held his ground firmly. She must have seen it in his face.

"What's wrong?" She asked, looking concerned.

"We need to talk...."

"About what?"

"About us."

Andrew appeared in front of Liz, shifting his feet nervously. "We can't be together."

Liz glared up at him, "Why not?"

"Because I'm not good for you! Because I'm dead! Do you want me to continue?!"

Liz felt tears sting her eyes, and Andrew felt his heart break. He reached out with a pale, cold hand and away wipped her tears. "I'm sorry but your better of without me. You can't live with me."

"That's crap! I'm living now!"

"I mean you can't truly live life with someone who isn't here." Andrew whispered softly. He pressed his lips against her's. Her lips were soft and tasted like tears, he pulled away. "I love you and because I love you...I have to go." He said, and he was gone.

Andrew appeared in the break room. "I did it," he said, avoiding the group's gaze.

Marley
Ocrap. Wow, he really did it. He really... that's deep stuff right there, man. But did I want to sit there and have a long conversation about 'feelings' and 'what it was like to break up with the love of his life'? Uh... I clutched my chest, my breathing ragged as I tumbled from my seat, and onto the floor "My... my heart... it's..." uh... "burning? Burning!" I said in an actually pretty convincing half scream. Because a fake heart attack= best way out of an awkward social situation.
