The Character Break Room

T.Mor:

No one had answered my question. "Erm...No one answered my question..." I said. Peter's face hadn't quite lined up with where I was standing...It was close...but off by about three inches. Weird. Maybe it was the hair in his face.

Peter

"Ah, right, I've met you two," I said, turning my head towards them. "In CD. Long time ago." Then I turned my head back towards T.Mor. Ish. "Well...it's kind of..." I didn't really want to tell him...

Cricket
"It's . . . writer stuff. This is th' break room. We should be breaking, not worry about writer stuff," I said. Writer stuff = evulz.

T.Mor:

"Kind of...What?" I asked, feeling terribly uneasy. Peter still wasn't looking at me correctly...Which was getting freakier and freakier. "What happened?" I pressed, which is kinda wierd for me. I just didn't want to be missing something. "What do you mean...'Writer stuff'?" I was kind of freaking out now.

Peter

"Well, you know..." I started, getting a better feel for where he was and trying to line my face up correctly, "writer stuff. We came in here to get away from that, right? It's why the writers aren't allowed inside."

Cricket
I looked from T.Mor to Peter . . . oh, right. Peter couldn't see. Well, non-oral communication was out. Oi my my. What to tell him? I tipped my head back in T.Mor's direction. "Ah . . . T.Mor . . . y'know, you should really eat something. Don't worry about it." I rolled off the couch and somehow landed on my feet, heading to the fridge and hoping that T.Mor followed.

T.Mor:

No one was giving me a straight answer. This...This was frustrating. I saw Peter move his head a bit more...It lined up finally, but I kind of felt like it was how Mr.Face lined up with someone's face...Like it was there...but it still wasn't entirely...right. It was just kind of...freaky. "Is it some kind of inside joke or something? I mean...What are you all not telling me? Why aren't you...Why aren't you telling me?" And if they said 'writer stuff' again...I was going to...I dunno. Do something or something...

Cricket
"Aye. Inside joke. You wouldn't get it." I tossed T.Mor a juice box. "Sit down, relax, don't worry about it."

Peter

"Yeah, just don't worry," I told him. I felt bad for T.Mor, really...but I figured that it would be worse to tell him the truth.

T.Mor:

Reflexes dictate that I catch the juice box. I did, but was still uneasy about the whole thing. I mean...What kind of bad joke was it? Why were they all telling me not to worry? What was up with Peter's face? I was completely confused, but sat down in a nearby armchair anyway. "Peter...Uhm...Don't take this the wrong way or anything...but...er...What's up with you? I mean...You...Your face...It...Doesn't..." I asked...hoping that I wasn't being rude or anything.

Cricket
Oi my my. I hoped Peter had something to say . . . because I didn't. Silently, I sat down on another couch, avoiding eyes.

Peter

"Ah...ah...um..." That had caught me off-guard. What was I supposed to say to that? "In...a chat...I kind of..."

T.Mor:

"You kind of what?" I asked somewhat hesitantly. I still hadn't opened the juice box, and it just...stayed in my hands...I played with it nervously.

Peter

"I...well..."

Gods...what was I supposed to tell him? That while he was away having an internal battle of morals, Mr. Face went behind his back and tortured Cricket and me anyway?

Cricket
"Pepper spray." I said, off the top of my head. "In a chat, Pete's recently been temporarily blinded by extreme pepper spray."

T.Mor:

"Oh...Erm...Ok...That...that really sucks...I'm sorry." I wasn't entirely sure what pepper spray was, but I figured it was probably something like bleach or something. That really did suck. "How long is that going to last you?" I asked sympathetically.

Peter

"Not really sure," I answered, masking my relief. That was an exceptional lie that Cricket made. "Depends on how quickly the chat moves. It could even be later tonight."

T.Mor:

"Oh...Ok...That wouldn't be too bad then...Can you do that freaky thing Mr.Face does? The echolocation stuff?" I asked, satisfied that this was not as terrible as I had originally thought it to be.

Peter

"No," I answered. "My hearing isn't nearly good enough for that. But I have a mental picture of this room in my head...and the more you talk, the better a feel I get for the area and everything. Mostly direction."

T.Mor:

"Oh. Ok...So no freaky ninja stuff...Ok." Mr.Face was freaky like that. He could actually tell when he was being completely silent. It was...scary. "So...uhm." I said awkwardly.

Cricket
Ah. It worked. "So . . ." Now I couldn't think of anything to say.

Peter

"Ah...well then..." It seemed that we were all at a loss here. What now?

T.Mor:

Oh...Oh crap. They...They were both lying to me. I saw it. Like...Almost like...some kind of day-nightmare.

That...That eye.

Peter lied.

They both lied.

I snapped out of it...The juice clattered to the floor. "You...You both...You...Liars... ... ... You...You could...You could have told me..." I felt myself pull my feet onto the chair.

So...My boss lied to me...My friends lied to me...What. Did I have some kind of sign on that said 'Lie to me...I'm cool with that'?

Evan

"Yeah..you're Peter aren't you? And...that's T. Mor...from day care?" I said, trying to figure out who everyone was.

Cassie

"Lies? What lies? What happened Peter?"

Peter

"I..." I began, still keeping my head pointed towards T.Mor. Oh gods... "I'm...sorry... We...we didn't want you to know... It's just that..." I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "We knew how you...were..."

I couldn't do this...it was as simple as that.
