Wishing stars

A jolt went through Lucia and she tacked Ryder in a hug, sitting on his lap. Her lips were electric as she kissed him. She pulled back and sighed happily, resting her head on his shoulder. "Eighteen months?" She asked, admiring the ring on her finger.

Ryder chuckled as he held her close and kissed her forehead. "Eighteen months." He repeated, still in a slight awe over the whole thing.

Lucia pressed her body close to his, her legs, chest, shoulders, only their faces were apart. But that was mere inches. Lucia could feel his breath and the steady beat of his heart, where as hers thumped around like a rubber ball. She was always slightly nervous around him, but it was a feeling she loved. They were getting married. It was official. "I love you, Mr. Samuels," she mumbled.

"As I love you, Mrs. Samuels." Ryder said with a grin and kissed her, his body shooting with electicity at her being so close. He could help the thrill that ran through his heart at calling her by his last name. She was his. Forever. Always. No one elses. Just his. If you had told him that he would be settling down with Lucia Blackwell a year or more ago, he would have scoffed and decked you. Yet here he was. Settling down with Lucia Blackwell. The love of his life.

Lucia shivered slightly and let her hands crawl over his shoulders, resting at the nape of his neck. Her cheeks were flushed a light pink from the rush of adrenaline it gave her, hearing him call her that. Lucia Samuels. Mr. and Mrs. Ryder Samuels... She wanted to explode. In the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think of how much he had changed. He had been such a player, a different girl every week, girls on his lap every morning... Now... Now he was settling down. She felt a distant sense of pride in her heart.

Ryder laid back on the couch, keeping her on his chest. At least this way, with her there, they were less likely to get in trouble. His fingers trailed up and down her back as he stared at the ceiling, his mind racing. "You should start planning tomorrow, Mrs. Samuels. Eighteen months isn't that long."

"Sounds like a plan," Lucia said, snuggling closer to him. She could hear the low chatter of her parents in the other room followed by her mothers melodic laughter. She sounded happy, which made her smile. She would be a big part of the planning and instantly, she was excited for one part in particular. The dress.

Ryder smiled as he held her and kissed the top of her head. "What time do you think it is?"

Lucia thought for a minute. "Probably eight or nine," she said, She stretched and reached for her phone. Flipping it open, she checked the time. "9:35," she said. She wondered if he had to go home... Maybe it would do her some good to spend a night away from him, but that thought made her frown mentally.

Ryder sighed and looked at her. "I don't think your parents would be to exstatic if I stayed the night." He sat up and kissed her gently. "I should probably head home." He really didn't want to leave, but he didn't want her parents mad at him. Especially not now.

Lucia frowned a tiny bit, but it soon melted into a smile. "I'll see you tomorrow?" She asked, but her question was rhetorical. She stood up and let him up. She stood on her tip-toes to kiss him, her body shivering with delight and she pulled back after what seemed like a long minute.

Ryder smiled, his hands had moved just beneath her shirt while she had kissed him. He kissed her nose, then her forehead. "I will see you tomorrow." He let her go and walked towards the door, pulling his keys from his pocket.

Lucia smiled as he left and then her parents finally made themselves known in the other room. "Is it safe to come out?" Her mother yelled. Lucia blushed and laughed. "Yeah, it's fine. Ryder went home," she said, but she figured her mother had been listening or spying.

Ryder drove home, his everything on cloud 9. He couldn't get past the fact that she was his. He smiled widely, the stop light turning green. He started across the fourway, a little blue Honda Civic barroling down the road, unable to stop for the red light.

Another accident? O.O

Lucia crawled up to her room and slipped her ring off, setting it on the nightstand. The diamond seemed to sparkle before she turned off her light and stared at her ceiling. She smiled bissfully as her eyelids started to tug down. When she turned on her side, she felt something slide down her cheek. She wiped at it and found it was a tear. Why was she crying? A sense of happiness washed over her, as if to answer her question and she sighed contentedly, closing her eyes.

(I've been debating either killing him off and introducing a new charrie, or messing with his memory. Just to shake things up a bit. Haven't decided yet though.)

Ryder's eyes got wide as the lights got closer. Ten minutes later, ambulances were on the scene along with firefighters and the jaws of life to pull Ryder from the car, speeding him off towards the hospital.

(Lolz, hopefully a new love interest if you kill him. I don't know if Lucia's heart could handle being alone after something like that...)

Lucia slept soundly, her dreams filled with shapes and colors, all meaningless. She couldn't wait to wake up and see him again.

Lucia's phone went off in the middle of the night, an unknown number flashing across it's screen.

Lucia picked up her phone, expecting a prank call or a party invitation from a friend. She rubbed her eyes and mumbled a sleepy greeting. "Hello?" She asked.

"Hello, Miss Blackwell? This is St. Bridger's Memorial Hospital. We're calling about your fiance' Ryder Samuels." Came a woman's voice from the other side.

Lucia's heart dropped and she sat straight up. "What about him? Is he alright?" In the back of her mind, she thought maybe it wasn't him, maybe they had the wrong Ryder Samuels... Maybe. But she also imagined the worse, too.

"Mr. Samuels was involved in an accident on intersection of Roseburg and 4th. You're the only person we've been able to contact out of all his relations." The woman continued. "He's in the ICU right now with the doctors. We just thought someone should know."

"Thank you for the call," Lucia said, hanging up right after the words left her mouth. She got up and slipped on sweats, driving to the hospital in the pitch black. Tears were streaming down the sides of her face, but she managed to stop them as she got inside the hospital. She explained why she was there and she was lead into a waiting room, which was barren and smelled of harsh antiseptic.

The doctor came out, having been informed that Lucia was there. He walked over to her and gave a small smile. "Hello, I'm Dr. Marklin. Are you here for Mr. Samuels?"

(I think she wouldn't mind as long as they were educated.)

Lucia looked up, misery clearly on her face. "Yes," she said, her voice trembling. "How is he?"
