Sound of Madness

"Why not?" Devon asked through the door, and heard crying. "You're crying? Open up, Carly."

Carly sighed and stood up, wiping her tears with the heels of her hands and opening up the door. "What?"

"Why are you crying?" Devon asked.

"Because..." Carly bit her lip. She couldn't tell Devon why. "Allergies."

"Allergies don't make anyone cry /this/ much, Carls."

Derek looked at her until she left his room. He sighed and punched a wall. He was such an idiot. What was he doing?

"If I tell you, you'll be mad," Carly said, sniffling. It was more that he'd be mad at Derek, she knew, so why did she care? Oh yeah, because Carly was the type that would still care about people who hurt her.

"Just tell me, Carly," Devon said exasperatedly.

"I...kinda-sorta...I..." She couldn't get the words out.

Demi walked down the halls and heard Carly and Devon talking. Carly sounded hurt about something. What was the problem?

"IkindasortahadathingwithDerekbehindyourbackandhecheatedonmewithDemi," Carly said quietly, but all in a rush to her brother.

At least five different emotions played across Devon's face before he decided to be ticked off -- at Derek. "Do you want me to kick him out?"

Carly's eyes went widened.

"Well, do you?" He said.

"I don't know," Carly mumbled. She still really liked Derek, though she couldn't see herself having a relationship with him again.

Devon made a quick decision. "No, I'll make him stay and look at how much he hurt you everyday. That's worse, if he has any sort of a conscience."
Which Devon almost doubted he did.

Demi gasped softly, hearing that carly had a think with Derek. She pushed into the room. "Carly...I would never... If i'd known...I wouldnt hurt him like that again." She stammered out.

Carly's jaw dropped when Demi bust in. What the heck?

Devon glared at Demi. "Were you eavesdropping?"

"I just passed by and heard what she said." Demi explained. What had she done? did she hurt Derek again, after he had just helped her?

"Well it's none of your business, go away," Devon snapped.

Well, maybe it was /kind of/ her business, but Devon didn't want Demi there right now.

Demi flinched when he snapped at her, but nodded and walked off. "I'm sorry." She said when she was at the door, her voice soft and hurt.

Devon just closed the door on the girl. Carly flopped onto her bed, head buried in the pillow.

Devon sighed, trying to decide what to do. Should he go yell at Derek? Hmm.

Carly only laid that way for a few minutes. "I need a drink," She said, then went downstairs to the kitchen for some water. She hoped she wouldn't run into anybody, especially Derek, on her way or in the kitchen.

Demi was down in the kitchen, sitting at the counter her head in her hands. What did she jsut do?

Carly took one step into the kitchen, saw Demi, and turned around to go back upstairs. Maybe she wasn't so thirsty, after all....

demi heard someone come in and saw Carly leaving. "carly, can I talk to you?" She asked quickly before she left.

Carly sighed and turned around. "I guess so." She wasn't mad like Devon was.

"Look...I am so sorry about the whole Derek thing...I swear i would have /never/ kissed him if I knew you guys were a thing." Demi rushed out in one breath. She paused for half a second to take a breath. "I wouldnt want to hurt him again....last time I cheated on him, i saw the pain it caused him. I would never want him to put that pain on anyone else."

"You can have him, it wasn't like we were officially...anything. Derek never said we were. So in his mind it may not have been cheating," Carly said, babbling a bit, but still quiet.

"He's sweet and all...just...we were never right for each other." Demi said slowly. "I think he really likes you. He pain in his eyes when he pulled away...i had never seen him like that."

"if you didn't think you were right for each other then why would you kiss him?" Carly pointed out. She ignored the idea that Derek might "really like" her.

Demi shrugged. "To see if the spark was really out. Which it was."

"Sorry to hear that. I guess he'll just have to find someone else then," Carly said, looking down at her fingernails.

"Dont give up on him quite yet....If he really likes you like i think he does he wont let you leave without a fight. He'll do whatever he can to get you back. Trust me, I know." Demi sighed to her.

Carly shrugged, unsure how to answer to that, and tried again to leave the kitchen. If Derek really liked her, then HE could tell her that stuff instead of Demi.

Demi sighed as she left, but didnt press the subject anymore. She went to find devon, explain what she could to him.

Devon was in his room as usual. He'd decided to take a break from his to-do-list. He liked to get things done, but he was still a teenage boy. He was trying to beat a certain level on the videogame.

Carly passed by Derek's door when she went upstairs, but forced herself not to look. Derek probably didn't even know that she knew what he'd done. He already thought they weren't talking, so maybe it was for the best....
