Sound of Madness

Demi climbed up the stairs to the second floor and pulled down the latterish thing to get up to her room. "I do love the privacy this room brings," She told him as she went to round up her slightly scattered belongings.

"If you want to keep it I guess you can, but the rooms on lower floors are more comfortable." Devon shrugged.

"I might take this room again in the winter if no one has it. I just cant handle the heat in the summer." Demi told him, shoving everything that was scattered into her bag.

"If you want." Devon ran a hand through his hair then picked up the bag when she was finished, and started down the stairs to drop it in her new room.

Demi followed after him and switched off the light on her way out of the room. She went down the latter carefully and followed him into her new room. It still had Derek's lingering sent. She swallowed and started unpacking.

Devon would have offered to help her unpack, but it might be awkward if he unpacked...well, stuff he shouldn't see. He stood in the doorway with his hands in his pockets for a moment. "Um...so...I guess I'll go back to playing videogames now."

"Oh...alright." She didnt want him to leave yet. She tossed her suitcase full of clothing in the corner of the room and just unpacked her backpack of trinkets.

"I mean, unless you still want the company," Devon said.

"I would like the company, but I don't want to keep you from your games," she told him politely.

Devon rolled his eyes and stepped over to her, wrapping an arm around the small of her back. "I'd rather spend time with you than play my videogames...partly because I lost that level."

Demi willigly leaned against him and put her head on his shoulder. "Parcially because you lost the level?" she laughed lightly.

"Well, it's true." Devon would shrug, but he wouldn't want to knock her head off. "What do you do in your spare time? I play games, obviously."

"I write." Demi pointed ansently over her shoulder to her beat up laptop and th flashdrive lying ontop of it. She knew that being this close to him wasn't good for herself. She would end up getting her heart broken.

"What do you write about?" Devon asked, his eyes soaking in the details of her face, how pretty she was in his eyes. Just in case.

"Poems and short stories," Demi told him softly.


(If this was my mc Delilah, she would have her guitar on her bed with sheet music already scattered around it. I don't know why or how I thought of that right now...but yea.)

"Can I read one?" Devon asked.

(That was a bit random, but hey -- it's always good to visualize things! )

Demi thought for a second and pulled away from him gently and over to her lap top. She plugged in her flashdrive and waited for the document to load.

"Here. It's called lost...I wrote it after I ran away." she told him softly and turned the laptop so he could see.

Devon read it over her shoulder. "That's really good, Demi."

"THank you." Demi smiled up to him and closed the document. She pressed the top of the laptop down so it would close and looked at her hands. "This is actually the first time i have shown anyone any of my work besides a teacher." She admitted to him, her voice soft and shy.

"Cool. I feel "loved" as you put it," Devon said with a chuckle.

"You are very much loved. You gave me a place to stay when i just showed up at your door step." Demi smiled up to him.

"That's true, guess I can't resist helping pretty girls," Devon said with a smirk.

Demi laughed lightly and just shook her head. "like i havent heard that one before. Why did you really help me? If you didnt like derek, why would you trust one of his friends?"

"I think I just wanted you to shut up, honestly," Devon said. "Since you were shouting and pounding on the door."

"Haha...yea...Kinda was a bad day." Demi rubbed the back of her head, slightly embarsed. NOt the greatest first impression.
