She shrugged. "You didn't say the magic word.""

Mason pulled her up to him, his grip tight "tell me" he did not tolerate insolence

Mirissa gave him a cheeky grin, "Thats not the magic word." She shrugged again. "Besides, I don't know."

Mason scowled and dropped her, picking up artemis instead and jolting her awake. Her eyes opened slowly and she looked around confused "maybe you would know for her sake" Mason told her, his tone spine chillingly pleasant.

Mirissa's lip twitched revealing a little worry, "I honestly don't know." She shrugged, "If I did I would tell ya, but since I don't....."

Mason scowled and delivered artemis a blow before pushing her to the ground and stepping behind his desk to call in the guards "come get these scum out of my sight" he spoke into the phone.
"your cell will be ready for you in the morning" he grinned at Mirissa "hope you like being blind"

Mirissa shivered, she hated it. Anger filled her and she looked at him, her unseeing eyes taking on a strange shine. "You won't always be in control of me." She said her voice distant. "I hope you're prepared for that day comes."

Mason walked quietly over to her and placed his mouth at her ear "we'll see about that" he whispered, backing away as the guards came and forcefully dragged the two out of the room and to a new, unbroken cell

Mirissa glared at the guards as they left and stumbled over to the door, flipping out the light switch. Finally able to see again she walked over to Artemis and looked at her sadly. Calling the shadows she asked them to lend Artemis strength. She may not be able to heal like others but she could do that much. As the shadows gathered around Artemis Mirissa crept back to her corner and let go of the stubborn determination she'd held around Mason and let the tears fall down her cheeks.

Artemis shivered as the shadows enveloped her and strength filled her limps. She managed to push herself and assess her wounds "well that was fun" she scowled

Mirissa didn't say anything, just let the shadows crept away as they wished. She pulled her knees up under her chin and stared at the door.

Artemis forced her sore body over to the girl " you okay?" she whispered, examining her face

Mirissa was silent for a moment longer. "I can get out of this cell you know." She said softly. "I've walked out lots of times without permission. But every time I end up in another one." She turned her head to look at Artemis, but it was as if she were looking at something else. "One day we won't come back to a cell. One day I'll stand blind in the sunlight. I wouldn't mind being blind there, as long as I was free. You'll be there too Artemis. I can feel it, its coming."

Izzy crept down the halls, careful not to be seen as he searched for their new room.

Artemis watched her carefully, "perhaps. But I won't get my hopes up." she placed a gentle hand on the girl "you okay?" she repeated.

"Yeah." Mirissa said pushing the masks back in place. Why did she let herself go like that? "I'm fine." She smiled up at Artemis. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? Sorry I left you alone with him so long."

Artemis shrugged and refrained from letting her hands flutter over the many cuts and bruises placed on her body "did you at least get to finish eating?" artemis asked dryly

Mirissa smirked, "Yeah, but he didn't let me get to the nap." She said leaving out the fact thats why they were in a new room, her breaking the old one. She looked at the many cuts and frowned, tearing off the bottoms of her soft Capri pants. She began wrapping and wiping off the cuts, knowing even these dirty rags were better than just leaving Artemis bleeding.

Artemis watched her skeptically, too weak to really protest. "thanks"she mumbled

"Uh-huh." Mirissa replied softly as she finished. 'No thanks ' she thought forgetting Artemis's abilities. 'Thanks isn't deserved by me. This is my fault.' She grinned at Artemis, her expression completely different than her thoughts. "Your done. "

Still not the best at decider thoughts from spoken words, Artemis grabbed her hands gently, preventing her from pulling away " this is hardly your fault. If you didnt stop my guards from takin me back to my own cell... Well let's just say I'd look a lot worse"

Mirissa frowned but quickly hid it. "Your right." She said with a smile. "But I am sorry about leaving you to him."

Artemis shrugged "I'm use to it. ... He's really going to move you tomorrow?"

Mirissa winced, her fear breaking through the mask of her face. "Yeah, I guess so. I knew it would happen eventually, he's tired of me breaking cells."

Artemis bit her lip, fear running through her as well. She had finally found some one who she could trust, now they were about to be separated again. "be careful" Artemis whispered, fingering her mark "can't have you dying on me before we can escape, eh?" she joked weakly

Mirissa smiled, completely serious. "I will be. I think something is about to happen, something good." She settled back against the wall. "We will escape. Soon"
