Till Death Do Us Part..

The scream distracted Mark for a moment and two of them tackled him to the ground. He growled and drove his swords into them, then tried to fight his way through to Artemis. "Catch!" He said and tossed his sword at her.

Grace finishes placing the Turbo in chuckling under her breath.

Artemis stared at it dumbly "but-but... how do I open it?" boy did she feel dumb

"Flick your wrist, let your energy flow to i-" Mark was side tackled to the ground by yet another Searcher

Brendon pulled the jumper cables over to the engine block. "Should we see if this bad boy works?"

Flick her wrist? She did and a lightsaber type thing shot out. she squeaked and thrusted it at an approaching searcher. His screams filled the air and then- he poof. She stared at the lighter and giggled "cool"

Grace nodded and took one end of the cables attaching it to the engine.

Mark was pinned down by two searchers as a third tried to rip out his soul.

Brendon smiled widely and carefully attached the other, his smile getting even bigger as the engine roared to life.

Artemis's eyes widened and she charged, flailing the weapon wildly about and causing the searchers to... poof. She looked around, a grin upon her face, pleased with herself

Mark laid there cough, spluttering as he once again emptied the contents of his stomach. His skin was pale, cold and clammy, his hands shaking.

Artemis fell next to him "mark! mark, are you okay?"

Mark looked at her and forced a weak smile. "ya. I'm alright." he managed before he emptied his stomach again. Oh, ya perfect. He's absolutely perfect. Almost got his soul ripped out, but you know. He hated the feeling of getting your soul ripped out, his body doesn't, well nobody's body really, handle it well, and this wasn't the first time it's happened to him.

"you gunna be okay?" she asked, concern coloring her voice

"Oh ya. Always am." Mark said after he quit hurling. He groaned and forced himself up, holding out a shakey hand to her to help her up.

Artemis stood up on her own accord, not wanting to burden him "you seem to attract trouble! she exclaimed"

"They were lurking around your house." Mark said with a shrug. "I thought I'd give them a distraction." he ran a shakey hand through his hair and gave a small smile.

Artemis froze "m-my house? why mine? I thought they didn't know of me"

Mark shrugged and shook his head. "I don't know. Maybe one of the ghosts ratted you out in exchange for another year."

Artemis scowled "another year?"

"Ya, another year here. Searchers are slow to remember deals like that." Mark shrugged. "At least, most searchers are."

Artemis became frustrated by her confusion "what do you mean- another year?"

Mark looked at her. "Another year here on earth. Another year with immunity without their light being put out."

Great, so she was like a bargaining chip to them now?
"oh.. goodie" she squeaked

Mark watched her and gave a smal smile. "Don't worry, you get use to it after a while." He chuckled, wincing slightly. His skin was still pale and clamy, cold as if he'd been touched by death itself. "Shall we go somewhere more...public?"

Artemis nodded and help him up "you look like death" she noted
