--Daycare--

Cricket
My eyes widened a little as he walked on air. I swivelled around to face them, tucking my legs indian-style and resting my chin on a fist.

Finn scooted back to sit next to me. "What're your powers, then?"

Andrew pushed open the door, Gh was making him check on some of her younger charries. The room was filled with tiny children and some he reconized as younger versions of others he knew. He felt unusally tall and out of place. His boots made no sound on the carpeted floor, as he scoured the room. Everything looked ok, he turned around ready to leave.

It was him. Tommy's eyes grew wide, he looked so different. He had to be about sixteen. Guilt filled Tommy, Andrew had died on the ship. No! He was leaving! "Andrew!" Tommy shouted, causing Andrew to whip around in alarm. He knew that voice.

Leslie

"Yo, Andrew kid!" I called. What kind of word was yo? "Get back here right now so Tommy can move on and not be in danger of eternal servitude to a feathery jerk!"

"Tommy? What are you doing here?!" said Andrew. "And Leslie? Is that you?"

T.Mor:

"What is democracy?" I asked. How come I didn't know any of these words?

Mr.Face:

"Oh...Well...That would explain why everything in Auda is tinned...there are none of those...Trees or anything around." I paused, figuring it would be best to get this question out of the way as well. "I'm going to sound hideously ingnorant but...What is a tree?"

Leslie

"That's my name," I said, giving him a wary look. "How do you know me? I haven't met you before."

"Democracy is...well...when the goverment is for the people and by the people." Evan tried to explain.

"Yeah but I've met an older version...forget it. What are you two doing here? And more importantly Tommy, what happened? Why are you still here?"

"It's...it's my fault you're dead."

Nike

"It's huge," I said. "Like, really tall, and kinda wide...but not super wide. There's a big vertical thing called a trunk, and it's made of wood. At the top of the trunk are branches, with tons of leaves coming off the branches. Leaves are kind of like paper, but they're in funny shapes, and they're smooth to touch. In certain seasons, different kinds of trees grow fruit. People pick the fruit off the branches."

There was still power being used out there. I looked outside again, narrowing my eyes, but the power was gone by the time I looked. It was just those four boys...and no bonders as far as I could see.

Leslie

"Older version?" I asked, confused. Then I shook my head. "I'm here 'cause a lady with purple and brown hair said she needed to write. And Tommy can't move on 'cause he has unfinished business. I'm trying to help him move on so I don't have to stick around to protect him from angels."

Peter

"M-my powers?" I asked, trying to keep the stammer from my voice and failing. "W-well I can...control..." I trailed off, looking at my hands again. I didn't want to think about my powers... They were horrible, evil powers...

T.Mor:

"Oh. Uhm...I don't think your government is doing it right then..." I didn't think that that sounded right. We didn't have that.

Mr.Face:

"That's fascinating." I was having trouble visualising, but it sounded really interesting. I would have liked to have touched one.

Nike

"Yeah, it's kinda interesting," I said with a shrug. "So...how do you have oxygen where you live? You must have other plants somewhere."


Sarah

"Hey, um, wanna draw or something?" I asked Tickety. Standing around doing nothing was no fun!

Cricket
"Ah...Finn," I said quietly, but he just kept waiting, looking at Peter curiously.

Tickety
"Aye," I said, looking over at the table. There was some guy there...ah well. He didn't seem the territorial type. If he didn't bother me, I wouldn't bother him. I walked over, glancing back at Sarah to see if she was following.

Mr.Face:

"We have shrubbery...I think...and like...uhm...grasses? And those nasty prickly things." I said, remembering my computer telling me about the wasteland.

Sarah

I walked over with Tickety, sitting down at the table and grabbing a piece of paper and a black crayon. Black for outlines.

"Um, what're your names?" I asked the other kids. Might as well be conversational.


Peter

"I... Do I have to talk about it...?" I asked. "I hate my powers..."

"Tommy, you can't be responsibel for me dying! We hit an icebreg!"

"But I heard about it. Some lady said...and I couldn't-" said Tommy, trying to explain but Andrew cut him off.

"Tommy, I died six years after you! Why are you still here?"

"I don't know! Why are you still here?!" he shot back.

"No..it works." said Evan, to T. Mor. He turned to Sarah, "Hi I'm Evan and that's T. Mor."

Leslie

"You both need to move on!" I said. "If you stay here, you're just exposing yourselves! An angel could swoop in at any moment to whisk you off!"


Nike

"Prickly things?" I asked. "What are they like?"

Sarah

T.Mor? Interesting name. I'd never heard it before.

"Nice to meet you," I said politely. "I'm Sarah. ...Um, is T.Mor short for anything?"

"We get it!" Andrew and Tommy said at the sametime.

"Gosh you're so much like older Leslie!" said Andrew.

T.Mor:

A girl sat down at the table with me. She asked my name. "I'm T.Morbid...But... Most people just call me T.Mor...It's easier to spell that way apparently..." I explained. I turned back to Evan. "I don't see how it can. It sounds silly. The people don't know what they want." I remembered that from back when I went to school.


Mr.Face:

"I don't know. I have never been to the wasteland to touch them myself. They're apparently low lying and wirey...and green. I don't know colour though...so...That means little to me." I told her, asnwering the best I could.

Leslie

"Older?" I asked. "What are you even talking about?" He towered over me, but I still regarded him as though he were nothing. And I was certain that I was older than him anyway.

Tickety
I sat, searching through the crayons until I found a blue one. Blue was my favorite color. My eyes passed over the other kids at the table once in recognition, and then back down to my paper.

Cricket
I looked at Finn. I hoped he knew he was treading dangerous ground...

"Well, you don't 'ave t', but now you've got me curious," he said.

Nike

"Huh...that sounds interesting," I commented. "I'm not really sure what those are."

That power outside was still bothering me. It wasn't active now, but the fact that it was there at all was very unsettling. I wanted to go out and see, but at the same time...I didn't.

Sarah

"What're you talking about?" I asked curiously.

Peter

"I...I guess..." I said. My voice was very quiet, and my words weren't articulated. "I control fire and heat."

I shut my eyes tightly again. I hated my power...hated it! Why couldn't I control wind like Senet? Why did I have this power?!
