Cricket
I took a cautious step back when she did, looking down at my feet. Don't look at a stranger in the eye...I peeked at her a little. "Ah...I'm ah..." I held out a hand cautiously, and looked down at my feet again. "I'm not going t' 'urt you..."

Girl
I flinched when he raised his hand, certain he was going to hit me. But when he didn't, I got confused. Why was he holding his hand like that? I stayed silent, studying him, confused

Cricket
I waited a moment, and felt nothing in my hand. After a while I peeked up at her, and then hesitantly raised my head. After a moment of thought my eyes bravely met hers. "It's a'right...go on." I held my hand out a bit further.

Girl
"What are you doing with your hand?" I asked bluntly, my own hands curling up into tiny fists

Cricket
"Um. It's an 'andshake," I replied, drawing back a little. " 'Aven't you ever given one?"

(Grr, keep typing Marley...) Girl
I shook my head, "N-no... what's that?" and for that matter, why does he sound so funny?

Cricket
I cocked my head. What was a handshake? "It's a...when you shake 'ands. Like...it's almost like saying 'ello, I guess."

"Dude..." I was saying that a lot. "Let your living competitor win! You're just leading her on the way things are now. You and she can never be together. Ever. Face facts."

Girl
"You're weird" I said, then walked forward and grabbed his hand, shaking it almost violently before letting it drop. Then I retreated backwards a few steps again

"What happens when the "living" competition was supposed to kill her?"

Cricket
"I know," I said pointedly, suddenly a bit self-concious. It was the hair, wasn't it? Well...actually, I'd seen a lot of different colors around here. My eyes ventured shyly away again, but I still faced her. "What's your name?"

Girl
"The Girl" I said as if this was the most normal thing in the world. That's what Dorian and Alex called me, anyway. "What's... what's yours?"

Leslie

"Um...I don't care?" I supplied as an answer. "All mortals are going to die soon, anyway. Might as well get it over with now and save some trouble."

Cricket
"The girl?" I glanced down and flashed a sheepish smile. "I'm Cricket."

Girl
"Nice to m-meet you, C-Crick... Cricket" I said, having some difficulty with his name.

"He was sent to kill her....but he didn't. I still don't trust him."

Leslie

"Um...okay," I said. "Look, I already told you, I really don't care about your 'important' mortal affairs. You're like...one grain of sand on a beach. If the beach takes up the entire planet. The only thing I'm concerned with here is making sure you move on so you don't have to be stuck carrying out the whims of a spoiled cloudy."

"I'm fine. I don't need your help," Andrew snapped.

Cricket
I looked at her again. She seemed scared...then, I was a little bit bigger than her. Which wasn't saying much. But we'd given each other names and everything...didn't that mean we could trust each other a little more? "Why're you so scared, Th'girl?"

Leslie

"It's just like a mortal to not know what's good for mortals," I said, shaking my head. "Your kind can never be helped, because you don't understand...anything! All you mortals are like that. You never understand."

"Stop acting so freaking superior!" Andrew shouted at her. He never yelled at little kids. Maybe because it was because he had known Tommy and knew an older Leslie. "You're flipping ticking me off!"

Girl
"I don't think I should tell you" I mumbled, looking down at my bare feet

Cricket
"A'right," I said simply. If she didn't want to tell me, well, it was her business. "Why not?"

Girl
"Why not what?" I asked, looking up at him

Leslie

"I'm ticking you off?!" I demanded with a laugh of disbelief. "And I have every right to act superior! I'm 262 years old, for crying out loud! Look at me! I may look like a little kid, but my mind is far more mature!"
