Till Death Do Us Part..

Mark was still awake, a few new cuts resting on his cheek, his eyes distant, lost in memories.

Artemis looked around, confused "mark?"

"Yes, Artemis?" Mark asked as he looked over at her. "Everything ok?"

Artemis swallowed hard, trying to forget about her last dream "Mhm, and you? Have you slept at all?"

Mark shook his head, "No. I didn't." He took a deep breath and stood. "Should we hit the road?"

Artemis frown and stood up, trying to be intimidating but her pitie frame was anything but "and why the hell not?"

Mark watched her, touching the scratch on his cheek slightly. "We had a visitor." He shrugged, his eyes still slightly distant, still caught up in memories.

Artemis cursed "another one? Why didn't you wake me? Better yet, how come I didn't wake?" she asked herself, slightly disgruntled

"No...not another one. Just...a visitor." Mark grabbed his bag and looked at her. "I think we should probably leave."

Artemis paused, throughly confused "visitor?" she refused to move, waiting for clarification

Grace woke up and looked at Brendon. It was late...."you want me to drive for awhile? "

"Best that you don't know." Mark grumbled. He had had a hard enough trying to hide her when he showed up. When he saw she wasn't going to budge he sighed and took a deep breath. "I'll tell you when we get on the road."

Brendon glanced at her and gave a small shake of the head, "nah. I'm fine. Sleep well?"

Grace nodded, lying of course. Her dreams were nightmarish. "Are you sure? You haven't slept in awhile. I'm a ghost, tecknically(sp) I don't need sleep."

Artemis narrowed her eyes but relented, "fine, but I'm driving. You need some rest" she replied, her tone firm

Mark hesitated, not sure he wanted her driving Clare Bear, his Bugatti. "I can drive, I'm fine." he said as he followed her.

Artemis scoffed, her mood souring "boys" she grumbled, slipping into the car

Mark slid into the driver's seat, relaxing a little at the fact that it was him driving. He started the car and pulled away from the hotel, working his way back to the highway.

Brendon shook his head and gave a small smile. "Nah, I'm fine. I've gone months without sleep."

"who was the visitor?" she demanded, not letting him off the hook

Mark pursed his lips slightly and sighed. "His name is Jack. Otherwise known as The Reaper."

Grace looked at him shocked, "M-monthes?"

Artemis became confused "the reaper?"

Mark gave a small nod, his face slightly dark, his eyes distant again. "Hench man to the Queen of Shades. He's not a searcher though. More like...an ex-mediator."

Brendon looked at her and nodded. "Well ya, you can always catch up on sleep later when you have eternity ahead of you."

"And he came here? why?" Her eyes widened, slightly panicked

Grace frowned, "An eternity?" She echoed confused. Great. Now she sounded like a parrot. Might as well glue feathers on her.

"He was looking for me." Mark said, his eyes still distant. "I just don't see how..." He trailed off for a minute, running a hand through his hair. "He was my mentor, Artemis."

"Well...I'm sort of..immortal." Brendon said with a shrug.
