Kent: "Tick tock. You thought this through, right?"

Brok: "Uh..." Yes? No?

(the truth?)

(I really don't like Ken right now. x.x)

Dakota: "I'm having some problems with my dad," I said, thinking how lame the words sound as soon as I said them.

Kent: I raised an eyebrow. "Problems." I crossed my arms. That I could understand a little more, unless it was just an excuse. "Do you mind telling me what kind of problems?"

Brok: I groaned. "Dad..."

Kent: "I just need to go a quick check, okay?"

Dakota: I stiffened, but then bit my lip and rubbed at part of my cheek I had covered in makeup, to show the bruise. I didn't look at Brok, just at Kent. "These kind of problems."

Brok: What was she showing him?!

Kent: "Oh." I paused. Awkward moment. Just like when I'd found out about Shane. "Alright. That's different. Uh...yeah, uh, I guess you can stay."

Dakota: I smiled. "Thank you."

Kent: "Yeah, yeah, sure. Prepare for take-off, we're leaving soon."

Brok: I glanced over at Kota; Kent left the room. "Kota, what did you show him?"

Dakota: "Nothing," I mumbled, making sure my hair sort of covered the bruise. "I should go home and get my stuff. Well, ya know...stuff for two weeks."

Brok: "Kota..." I shook my head. "Kota, you showed Kent something. What is it? I'll ask him if you don't tell me."

Dakota: "Maybe I just don't want to show you, did you ever think of that?" I said, a slight bite to my voice that I regretted right away. I gulped. "Sorry, it's just...."

Brok: I sighed. "Why didn't you want to show me? Just show me, Kota. Please?"

Dakota: But if he saw my bruise he might think I was ugly.
I sighed and tucked my hair behind my ear, turning my head so he could see the bruise.

Brok: I sucked in a deep breath, then two or three more as I started to understand what had happened. It was a bruise, and only one person could have given it to her. "Kota, I...I'm so sorry he did that to you. We have to keep you away from him..."

(KOTA! Brokkoly would NEVER think you were ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Dakota: I shrugged and looked away. "I'm going to go get my stuff now," I repeated.

Brok: "Do you want me to come with you and help?" I asked, standing up.

(I think he called her beautiful once to her face...but I'm not sure)

Dakota: "No, what if my dad wakes up? I'll see you in a bit," I said then left and went home. I packed as light as possible while still having enough to last two weeks.

(ahhhh brokkoly.)

Brok: I paced while I waited for Dakota. I didn't like being without her.

Dakota: I left a note-of-sorts, though it was vague, then put cover-up back over the bruise. I hurried back to Brok's. "I'm back."

Brok: "Good," I said. "The plane's about to take off. Let's go sit down."

Dakota: "Don't you mean the jet?" I mumbled, following him.

Brok: "Plane. Jet. Is there a difference?" I asked, leading her to two empty seats.

Dakota: I shrugged, not really caring in the end and sat down next to Brok. I wouldn't let myself feel relieved until the plane took off and I'd actually be "free."
