Daughter of Darkness

Gabrielle's eyes widened, catching what he wasn't saying "there's a reason you're in this cell, isn't there?" her voice became dark

(can he really not have children? I wanted to make gabrielle ask but it wouldn't flow O.o)

Artemis shifted in her sleep. With kale or mirissa there, her good dreams were turning dark, as per usual. she whimpered quietly

(ha..yes seph took his manhood)

"Don't flatter yourself." Peter growled, as he closed his eyes, blocking out the pain throbbing through his body. "Seph has bigger plans than you. He's just playing games with you. You realize what he's going to do with all of us with powers?"

Kale was being tortured by his mind in his room, screams echoing through his mind. He stumbled through the house to the kitchen, turning on the lights as he went, his body shaking and in a cold sweat.

(O.o like.. which part of it?)
Gabrielle skirted back, still not trusting him "kill us?" she raised an eyebrow

Artemis remained asleep, her nightmare getting worse by the minute

(just castrated him)

Peter shook his head. "He's developed a seirum that's suppose to contol people like us." he sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "He'll kill us later. But he what he wants is the kingdom. He already has the power to take it, we're just a minor detail. He was wanting me to infiltrate that guy." He pointed to a cell where an unmoving body was being tossed in. "The King's right hand man."

Kale heard whimpers and looked around curiously, wondering if it was still his mind. He wandered into the hall, and towards Artemis's room. He opened the door and went over to her, gently slipping his hand into hers. "Artemis? Artemis, wake up."

(y-ouch)
Gabrielle's eyes widened, "he really did make the potion?"

Artemis let out a cry and startled awake, jumping back as tears poured down her face

Peter eyed her. "Ya...who told you? Other than me?"

"Shhh, it's alright. It's just me." Kale said gently, holding his hand out to her. "It's just me."

Artemis crumbled in his arms, remaining silent as she cried her heart out

Gabrielle crinkled her nose "he would brag about it all the time. but i thought he was lying. i thought it was a trick to make me crack"

Peter shook his head. "He's not bragging." He muttered, staying on his side of the cell, moving with a wince to the corner. "He's used it on me before. Not fun."

Kale held her close, rubbing her back and issuing comforting phrases.

Gabrielle's eyes widened "it hurts?"

Artemis finally cried herself silly and pulled out of his arms, staring past him with empty eyes "i'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you"

"It's like having sludge in your blood. And you can see and feel everything you're doing, but you can't stop. You have to do it." Peter frowned, his arms resting ontop of his knees.

"No, no it's fine." Kale ran a hand through his hair, his eyes tired. "I couldn't sleep." He gave her a small smile. "Are you alright?"

Artemis swallowed hard and whipped away the excess moisture "yes" she croaked "why couldn't you sleep?"

Gabrielle gasped "you mean he can make you do what he wants?" this wasn't good, not at all

"More or less." Peter muttered. "He won't use it on you though, if that's what you're worried about." He watched her carefully.

"Uh..just a lot on my mind." Kale said with a small smile. "Want some tea?"

Artemis gave a sharp nod, "sure.. what is tea?"
Gabrielle gave a relieved sigh but didn't question it. "and will you do it? invade his mind?" she jerked her chin at the other cell

Peter shook his head. "No..I refused.." he winced slightly at the thought.

Kale smiled and held his hand out to her as he stood up. "It's...flavored water with sugar."

Artemis slipped her hand into his without thought "sugar? is that water clean like before?" her mood was slowly perking as his presence chased away the darkness.

Gabrielle nodded "bet he didn't like that"

"No, I lost my manly hood over it." Peter muttered as he laid his head against the cell wall and closed his eyes.

Kale chuckled and smiled. "You'll see." He said as he led her to the kitchen and sat her down before filling a pot of water and setting it on the stove to boil. He brought down two cups and put tea bags in them and sat down with her. "Were you having nightmares?" Well duh...of course she was having nightmares. But he still felt the need to ask.

Artemis bit her lip and nodded "mhm" she looked away, staring at her plant

horror flashed across Gabrielle's face "my god. you.. okay?" what she meant to ask was did he need more healing, but that would be awkward, considering

"I'd rather not talk about it." Peter grumbled. It was a big shot to his self-esteem. Almost as bad as Seph taking Gabrielle's body from her. No...not almost. It was just as bad.

Mark nodded and went and took the water of the stove, pouring it into the cups and getting the bowl of sugar down, he brought it all to the table, setting her cup infront of her.

Artemis peered at the cup "it looks like toilet water" she whispered

Gabrielle dipped her chin, falling silent and looking away. She pulled the blanket closer to her, very tempted to let her mind wander but didn't want to risk it. She fingered her new scare on her chest

Peter sighed, feeling bad for being a little short with her. "Yes. I'm alright."

Kale laughed and smiled widely. "It tastes good though." He put a few spoonfulls of sugar in his cup then a few in hers and stirred it. "Try it." He took a sip of his, the water being the perfect temperature.

Artemis crinkled her nose but obeyed, bringing it to her lips "oh!" she exclaimed, the sweetness hitting her tongue "oh!" it was gone in a flash "that was..." she searched for the word "it made my tongue dance!"

Gabrielle looked over at him, "I'm sorry he did that to you" she whispered

Kale chuckled and smiled watching her. "It's good, isn't it? Tea is usually the only thing that makes me feel better on nights like this."

Peter looked at her and forced a smile. "It's alright. I can still adopt."

Gabrielle frowned "you make it sound like you're going to get out of her alive"

Artemis nodded her head vigorously "what's that called? the taste? I like it!"
her bad mood was officially gone

Peter watched her. "well, it's better than thinking I'm just going to rot away in this cell."

"Peach." Mark said with a smile as he watched her and chuckled, sipping his own tea.

"but we are" gabrielle replied simply
Artemis tilted her head, watching him back "how come you drink it so slow?"
