Daughter of Darkness

Kale chuckled and nodded. "Of course. The sun doesn't hurt it as long as it has enough water." He said as he led her back inside.

Artemis cradled it as they made their way back in "should I water it?" she asked, looking up at him

Gabrielle angrily whipped away the tears as they made their way down her face.

Peter was thrown back inside a while later, looking worse than he had when he first came in. He hit the wall, falling into a crumpled mass of bloodied limbs.

Kale watched her as he opened the door for her. "Does the soil feel dry?"

Gabrielle didn't bother to move, instead just reached out and started to heal his wounds "you okay?" she whispered

Artemis felt it and shook her head "no. but should I anyway?"

Kale gave her a small smiled and nodded. "Just don't give it to much."

"Yes," Peter said quietly, not moving.

Artemis ran over to the sink, giving it a splash of water "why?"

Gabrielle pushed more of herself into it, the wounds healing before her eyes "you sure?"

"Because if you give it to much, it'll drowned." Kale said as he watched her with a small smile.

"Yes, Gabrielle." Peter said, though he didn't move from his spot.

"too much is a bad thing?" Artemis asked, utterly baffled by this new concept. She pulled it out of the water and set it on the table, hoping it wasn't drowning now.

Gabrielle watched him for a moment "are you not moving so you don't scare me or because you can't actually move?" she asked, slightly worried

Kale nodded as he watched her. "Like to much sun dies the plant out, to much water drowneds it. You have to be careful when taking care of it. It's like taking care of a child, you can't give it to much food or it will be sick. But you can't not give it any food because then it will starve."

Peter sighed. "I ..can't...move."

Artemis nodded, staring at the plant "okay" she chirped

Gabrielle went to his side, making sure the blanket stayed tight around her "what's wrong?"

"That thing on my chest. It keeps me paralyzed." Peter grumbled unhappily.

Kale smiled widely and kissed her forehead. "Take good care of that plant, and it'll take care of you."

Artemis smiled, her eyes closing as he kissed her head "I will" she replied, her tone determined. "I will. ...what now?"

Gabrielle looked at his chest "can I remove it? why is it there?"

Kale smiled as he watched her, his heart skipping a beat slightly, then plumiting. "I suggest setting it in the kitchen window. It won't be to hot or to cold there."

Peter did his best to roll so she could see it, the large circle sitting ontop of his chest.

Gabrielle eyed it "is it safe for me to remove it?"

Artemis obeyed and quickly set it down, caressing it for a moment before going back to kale and giving him a small smile

Kale smiled as he watched her and looked outside. "It's getting dark." He muttered and took a deep breath. "You should probably head to bed."

Peter would have shrugged if he could have. "I don't know, but it's worth a try."

Gabrielle swallowed hard and reach over, gently pulling at it

Artemis looked around, "where?" the last few times she had fallen asleep it hadn't been in a room. did she even have a room?

Kale smiled and led her to a room and opened it up for her, making sure it was empty before opening it. "You can stay in here."

Peter grimaced as the device finally let go, leaving a large patch of blood in its stead.

Artemis shifted anxiously, stepping in and eying the unfamiliar room "thank you"

Gabrielle fumbled to have the patch heal up, and she smashed the device "you okay?" she asked, a bit frantic

Peter nodded and gave a small nod. "Yes, I can at least move now. Some of my masculinity is regained." He sat up, grimacing.

Kale watched her carefully. "My room is at the begining of the hall, if you need anything in the night. Alright?"

Artemis gave a small squeak of agreement and went over to the bed, feeling it tentatively. it felt... soft. whoa

Kale smiled at her and shook his head. "Goodnight Artemis." He said, and turned, leaving the room and going back down the hall.

Artemis collapsed onto the bed and burred her face into the pillow,her fears forgotten thanks to the cocoon of softness around her. She fell quickly asleep

Gabrielle nodded "what did he want with you?"

i'll be back.. me is going to grab some wendy's!!

Kale sat in his room with the light on until he couldn't bear to keep his eyes open. He then turned off the light and sat on the edge of the bed, suddenly very awake, memories creeping to the front of his mind.

"Other than to make it so that I can't have children?" Peter gave a small smirk, though it was a very large blow to his selfesteem. "I can infiltrate people's minds. He wanted me to retrieve something for him."
