Wishing stars

Tucker followed her quietly, wrapping her in his arms and holding her close. "You can stay with me tonight if you want to." He murmered. He didn't know what to say other than that. "We can get you clothes when we get there."

Lucia shook her head and looked up. "I can stay here," she said. "I'll get my clothes and meet you in the morning," she said, her voice shaking slightly. She put her hands on both sides of his face and pulled out a smile. "I'll see you tomorrow morning," she said, letting him go and looking back once before climbing up the ivy wall to her window.

Tucker sighed as he watched her go. He didn't like the thought of her being there with her drunk mom. He hoped she used the lock on her door tonight. He slowly began to trudge back to his truck, a million thoughts weighing on his mind.

Lucia hurried into her room and locked her door, leaning against it and sliding onto the floor with a sigh. She got back up and packed her clothes, even throwing in two dresses. She threw the bag by her bed and laid down, covering her face with a pillow. She heard her mother calling her name from downstairs, but ignored her and forced herself to sleep.

At four in the morning, Tucker was outside in his truck, waiting for her.

Lucia woke up and wrote a note to her mom, explaining everything and that she was going to be back soon. She grabbed her bag and crept outside and got into the passeger seat. She threw her bag behind them and laid her head on the seat, looking at him sleepily. "Morning," she said.

"Morning," Tucker said with a small smile. "You look tired." He chuckled as he pulled out of the driveway, heading back towards his house to get the trailor.

Lucia smiled back, hugging her arms around herself. "Not everyday do I wake up at four in the morning," she said, pulling her hair out of it's bun on the back of her head. It curled down her shoulders, making her a bit warmer.

Tucker chuckled and put his arm on the back of the seat so she could scoot to the middle if she wanted to. "Well, you can sleep the whole way there if you want. We just have to get one of the trailors and load it before we can head out."

Lucia slid next to him without hesitation and sighed. "I might just want to do that," she said quietly. Last night, Ryder had been in her dream, and she knew it would be in vain, she hoped she might catch a glimpse of him. She also wanted to stay awake. She wanted to stay up and talk to Tucker.

Tucker smiled and turned up the heater, pointing it towards her as he also turned on the radio quietly. He smiled softly at the song that came on, singing with it quietly so he didn't wake her if she was already asleep, and let his arm drape around her.

Lucia was still awake as she buried her head in his shoulder, listening to the radio and to Tucker. She rested her arm over him and watched the road.

Tucker continued to sing with the radio as they pulled up to his house. It was large with vines colored by autumn crawling all over it. "I'll be right back." Tucker said as he parked the truck and let it sit idle, going inside.

Lucia laid back against the seat and let her head roll back, staring up at the ceiling. She turned her head once, to look out his house and smile. It was nice... Like, really nice. She returned her head to its previous position and sighed, hugging herself tightly.

(Agreed. I think Meteor Shower by Owl City also fits in Lucia's perspective...)

Tucker came back out with a lunch box, setting it on her lap. "There's some breakfast, go ahead and eat." He didn't bother buckling. He followed the road to an old red barn that had a large coral behind it that connected to a field. There were already men on horses out there, bringing the cattle into the coral.

Lucia looked at the lunch box hesitantly and then decided to eat breakfast. She hadn't eat breakfast since Ryder had made her pancakes... She finished the food and closed the lunch box, setting it to the side. "Thanks," she said softly.

Tucker smiled and glanced at her. "You're welcome." He pulled the truck forward, then began to back up to a large white trailor, his face turning focused as he watched one of the guys guide him.

Lucia's fingers dug into her sides and she laid her head so she was facing the passager side window, closing her eyes. She felt the vibration of the truck and the trailer coming together through her seat.

Tucker waited as they dropped the trailor down onto the ball hitch and fastened it tightly. He then backed it up to the loading shoot and got out to help them.

Lucia was still doing what she had previously been doing.

By six o'clock they were on the road, pulling onto the highway. Tucker looked over at her and smiled, pulling a blanket out of the back seat, keeping his eyes on the road as he covered her up. He then went back to having both hands on the wheel as the soft sounds of the radio filled the silence.

Lucia woke up a few times before seven and then decided to stay semi-awake. She turned to face him and smiled a little bit, hugging the blanket around her shoulders. Her eyes lids still drifted a little as she watched him.

Tucker's face turned thoughtful, not really noticing her watching him as he propped his elbow up on the side door. He sighed and reached into his ash tray, pulling out a can of chew. He glanced at it, wrestling with himself. He desperately wanted a dip.

Lucia tried to fight off her eyelids, but in turn, fell alseep, her head lolling on his shoulder. Sleeping during the day always made her so disoriented, but she didn't care. She was so tired.

Tucker sighed and put it away. He wouldn't be able to spit with her next to him. Not unless he wanted to risk getting it in her hair, and that wouldn't be a good thing. He sighed and put his arm around her, still itching for the can. A few hours later he shook her awake gently. "Hey, we're at a rest stop. You gotta pee or anything?"
