Better Of The Damned

Katherine: "Well, I can't make a statement like that since I don't know you." I replied as a corner of my mouth threatened to curve up into a half-smile. I didn't want to get attached to anyone, because in the end, they'd just die, like every other animal on this planet.

Derek - "True," I said catching the fact that she was half-smiling. I smiled smugly, it had been a long time since I saw a smile.

Serena: I watched the small group from my position against the trunk of a tree. I wasn't sure if they knew I was there, and were ignoring me, or if they hadn't noticed me at all. Either way, them not talking to me was for the best. If the scientists peeked in while I was talking to them then we'd all be in danger. Depending on what was being discussed, of course. I had a feeling there would be a lot of plotting and the like going on, so staying away from any conversation was a good idea. But I had never followed what seemed 'right'. Obviously, because or else I wouldn't be here. I would have ran from them, not right to them. But they had promised to heal me, ride me of the buzzing. But guess what? I was now here, in this weir forest, and the buzzing was still present. I wasn't about to surrender, though. They wouldn't use me as their little spy. A mosquito buzzed in my ear, and I mistook it as the buzzing starting. My heart thumped and I quickly closed my eyes, keeping my thoughts on anything but the images of those other people. But then I realized it had only been a bug, and relaxed.

Katherine: "So...mind telling me your name?" I asked, glancing away from him. My facade was slipping already. I cursed mentally, there would be no way to rebuild it now.

Derek - "I'm Derek," I told her, "and you are?"

Anastasia - In the mist of my anger a spark of fire errupted near a girl by a tree trunk, "Oh, shoot! So sorry" I freaked trying to get rid of the flame but only causing it to get worse, "Oh Gosh!!!"

Katherine: "Katherine." I answered. I glanced over at Anastasia, and saw that she had caused a fire, but for some reason, I felt indifferent. It seemed like nothing could phase me. Seemed being the key word.

Serena: I took a step clamly away from the girl, but didn't smile. I wasn't a people person. Not until I knew I could trust someone did I open up to them. I kicked some dirt onto the fire and it simmered down to charred wood.

Mikey: I bit my lip, and I messed around with my wrist band. I wasn't really enthused with the crowd that had gathered in this area. How could we not be killing each other by now?

Anastasia - "I really do apologize," I said looking from one to another. I saw the hesitant nature of the girl and looked away shyly remembering that we were supposed to be hostile towards each other. "What are you?" I asked the guy.

Mikey: I decided to reply to the girl, even though I wasn't fully sure she was talking to me. "I'm a half-demon. What are you?"

Anastasia - "They call me a Fire Holder," I tell him manipulating a small flame floating above my palm intently.

Mikey: "That's cool if you ask me."

Katherine: "Katherine." I answered. I glanced over at Anastasia, and saw that she had caused a fire, but for some reason, I felt indifferent. It seemed like nothing could phase me. Seemed being the key word.

Serena: I resisted rolling my eyes at the girl. A fire holder? And she was telling everyone what she could do? ((Quick edit: Serena can use her powers without the buzzing noise, I decided.)) I sent a message into each of the two's minds. ((bold means it's in someone's head, whoever she's sending it to)). I'd be more careful at exposing your tricks. You never know when a secret weapon may come in handy. I could read their thoughts, too, which they'd probably figure out.

Anastasia: Prison or death are my two options, I can fight for my life and use my secrets all I want, but it will never be worth it if I don't make a few friends, a few good memories I send a thought her way. "If you can learn how to not hurt others," I say thinking of Danny.

Derek: "Why'd they get you in this prison?" I asked noticing Anastasia was showing off again.

Mikey: I kicked a twig out of boredom, and I sighed. "I'll never intentionally hurt anyone."

Johnny: Holy crap. Could the Serena girl read minds too? I felt slightly invaded at that, like i could feel her mind probing my own. Her name was Serena, i found that in her mind.... she definitely liked to think things out. I snorted when she thought about secret weapons. THat's not a bad idea at all... I thought, hoping she would get that i was talking to her. Good thing they cant really see a mind trick unless they test us experimentaly. That's my case, at least. i wondered if it startled her to have someone talking to her through her mind.

Anastasia - "Sometimes it's not the intentional stuff that haunts you," i tell him.

Mikey: "Yeah, I pretty much already know this stuff."

Anastasia - "Don't we all, living here," I roll my eyes.

Katherine: I shrugged, and lied, "I'm not even sure." I didn't want to expose my secret yet. Ever, if that was possible.

Derek: "I see," I tell her. "Stupid scientists," I groan.

Katherine: "That's definately toning it down." I commented with a slight, small smirk.

Johnny: "Dont," i warned quietly. "Dont talk bad about them. It might not be safe. In fact, someone here can't be trusted..." My mind shot over to Serena's. I wont expose her. I was pretty sure it wasnt her fault.
