Ooooh the train one! *excitement* Just a seeeeccooooondd......

Eliza: The voice makes me jump and I miss the tree, making me faceplant to the ground. I roll over on my back and look at the guy upside down, nodding no.

"Good," says the woman. "Please follow me then." She moves her cane and doesn't wait for the girl go stand before she starts navegating the rows of cages.

Chance held out his hand with a boyish smile. "Here," he said, helping her up. "What's bothering you?"

Ella quickly stood, not bothering to brush herself off. She tentatively followed the woman, scanning the rows of cages. Where was she? She could barely see in the dim light. Where?

The woman taps on a cage with her cane. "Right here," she says. "And please don't be a bother. Just get in."

Eliza: I think about how to answer this. Was he at the auction? He didn't look like it since most of those people wore such fancy clothes. Besides, no one seemed like theu would try to leave early. I break a branch off the tree and write in a patch of dirt. "Don't worry about it."

Chance cocked his head at the symbols. "Sorry, I...I can't read." Then it hit him. "Hey! You're the girl that was on stage!"

Eliza: I stick out my tongue, mortified. Dang, that would happen. Guess I did get lucky with the old guy, seeing as mostly nobles know how to read. And god knows they make horrid conversation. Was this guy gonna make me play charades?

Chance cocked his head. "Well, this is tough. I'm assuming you can't talk?"

Ella looked from the cage to the woman to the cage again. No, not yet! She hadn't even seen Isadora. There was no way that she had gone all the way back here to find her friend and get put in a cage instead. She bit her lip, and considered running for it. But where to? She looked up at her with wide eyes.

"I know you speak English," says the woman. "So what are you waiting for? Your friend?"

Eliza: I nod and hang my head. If only master handn't sewn my throat. But what else could she do? Maybe the guy can read lips? I mouth it to him.

Ella nodded. "Where is she?" Oops. She forgot about the no talking rule.

(Mouthed what to him?)

The woman boredly moves her cane and uses it to shove the girl inside. She yawns as she takes a key from her pocket. "Dinner is in two hours."

(If he could read lips.)

Ella caught herself when she fell, but it made her hands sting. She pushed herself up and grabbed the bars of the cage. "But--" The woman had already locked the door.

"A little," Chance said, gesturing with his fingers.

Isadora: When I hear a familiar voice, I lift my head from my knees. "Ella?" I whisper. "Ella, is that you?"

Eliza: Hm... Well it was better than nothing. "I'm Eliza," I mouth, sticking out my hand.

Ella whirled around, squinting in the dark. "Isadora!" She was in the cage behind her. Ella hurried to the edge of her cage. "I've been looking all over for you! Peeping up a little earlier might have helped..."

Chance shook her hand. "Ezra? No, Eliza. Is that it?" When she nodded, he smiled. "Chance."

Eliza: I cock my head. That's a pretty cool name. Much nicer than Eliza. "Were you at the party?" I mouth, using elaborate gestures too.

Isadora: "I-I'm sorry," I whisper. "I didn't have a choice. The man just asked me all these questions, and the next I know I'm down here. What about you?"

Chance nodded. "Yeah...maybe I wasn't supposed to be, but that's a different story."

Ella frowned. "Well...more or less," she whispered.
