Dustin leaned against the wall of a shadowed alley, watching the fresh morning buzz by with its crowds and buyers and sellers and gypsy storytellers.

"The dress shop is just down the street, petal," Alice said, trying not to sound nervous as she led Violet. She was nervous about seeing Simon, if she did. He was starting to creep her out a little - showing up in her room and such.

"Ooh, but can't we stop in the pawn shop? They have much more interesting things than a stuffy store, and we can see Canary!" Violet was trying to get out of going to try on dresses. She always hated finding a shade that looked alright with her hair, and hated having her body compared to Alice's. They may have been twins, but Violet was a teensy pudgier. Mostly because she ate, while Alice hardly did.

"No, mother and father said we needed to be back by 4 'o clock for tea, "Alice said, though the idea of the pawn shop sounded wonderful to her, too.

"Fine," Violet grumbled, and scanned the area for another reason to stall. She happened to glance down an alleyway, and saw a familiar figure. Her face broke into a smile when she realized it was Dustin. "Be right back!"

"No, Violet we don't have time -" Alice sighed, her sister had already vanished into the alley.

"Well, what do you know? It's the streetrat," Violet smiled in greeting as she walked up to Dustin.

"Churchrat," Dustin corrected, and flashed a grin. "How ya doing, kid? It's been forever."

"One day is forever?" Violet laughed. "And churchrat, I forgot your new "status", sorry." She glanced behind her, making sure Alice wasn't watching. What would her sister think of her talking to someone like Dustin? Then again, she should really be worrying about what her parents would think... "My parents are hosting a party tonight."

"Feels like forever..." he muttered, and then perked up. "A party?"
