A look passed between the three of them. They had noticed the girl before school; the one who had come in with the Grayson kid. Who wouldn't go out with any old girl. The Commish's daughter was a bit of a stretch but she was still somebody.
chin-klin.
One blocked the lower staircase. "Hey chicky. What brings you to this lone edge of the school?"
The others stayed by the door, leaning against the wall.
"New kid, duh. She's lost," another jests, a lop sided smile on his face.

Elizabeth
My hands tightened into fists, my gaze flitting over to the lighter, then back to the one blocking the staircase
"I'm not lost. Let me through" I lied, a definite edge to my voice. I felt like a cornered animal.

The one blocking her way catches her look. "What? You wanna smoke? It'll cost you..."
Chin-klin. Chin- The sharp sound of the flint grinding for a spark, but no flame. -klin.
"I think she's just attracted to shiny things. Sucking up to Grayson she's bound to get all sorts of goods."
Chin-klin. Chin-klin. Chin-klin.

Elizabeth
My pulse raced. I would be okay unless the burned me, and surely they wouldn't be /that/ stupid. And I ignored their joking, adopting a confident look, tucking a curl behind my ear, and crossing my arms
"Just let me through before you make me do something you'll regret"

Which just made them laugh. One leaning against the wall throws his cigarette out of the doorway, getting a pack out of his pocket. "That's cute. Really..."
Taking one out and putting it to his lips, his friend tosses the zippo to him.
Chin-klin. Chin-klin. He puts it to the tip of his cigarette.
Chin-
Flint cracks.
Spark.
Flame.

Spades
I took a step back, gaze trained on the flame. All I could think about was that fire... the smoke, filling my nose and eyes... flames all around me... I snapped out of it, but my eyes betrayed some panic.

"Dude, that's expensive. Don't puff like a pansy and waste the oil."
A cackle of laughter. "What? Not getting allowance anymore?" He waves it around, the flame flickering but not going out as zippos are famous for.
"Seriously. Give it back." He reaches to snag it, but the other pulls back, his hand bumping into the girl.

The flame brushed against my arm, just for a moment. A pain, small, but magnified by my memories, shot up my arm. My eyes widened, and as if on instinct, I punched the guy with the lighter and kicked him in between the legs, then punched him across the face again.

"Dude! Shes gone mental!". The two back away, the third going to the ground moaning in pain.

Spades
I couldn't resist a laugh at that one, and I turned to the two with a slight grin "Anybody else want a shot?" My head tilted to the side slightly as I giggled again, and I figured I was already is so much trouble, that I could go ahead and teach them a lesson about messing with ex villains.

Rae
Suddenly so icy, sending shivers down my back. Spades had been closest; i had been destracting myself with her familiar shadows but its all wrong now. I cant focus on the desk a few inches from me, the stupid summer packet review the teacher was going over. He wouldnt let me out though. He hates students leaving in a descussion. Cissie... Cissie was closest to her. But she didn have her communicator anymore.
As the teacher explains a problem on the white board i get my cell phone, type up a text as quickly as i could with shaking hands.
Spades - Smokers' Staircase. Now.

Cissie
psychology was a class that seemed all nice but turns out to be horrible. Im dying and its just the first day...
My pocket buzzes and im bored enough to look, but my hand shoots up after. I request the bathroom and go out, hurrying to where Rae said. What could be wrong? I open the door hesitantly, stepping in the first floor door. "...Lizzy?"

Spades
I think the lesson was pretty much learned. One was knocked out, and the other had all the fingers broken in his right hand. I was still smiling slightly, a strange, lightheaded, giddy feeling lingering as the adrenaline wore off.
Then I looked at Cissie, speechless, as the guilt began to sink in.

Cissie
I take in the scene before looking at her. Her fading smile turning to a deer in the headlights full of guilt look. "No, no, Lizzy...". Dont look that way. Knowing these punks they deserve it. I know that guilt somewhat though... She wouldnt feel that way if it was self defense and got a little out of control. I close the door behind me, unsure of what to do, waiting for her to react. Not wanting to...set her off...

Elizabeth
"I'm... s-sorry..." I said softly, wrapping my arms around myself and looking at them on the ground. How could I ever expect that I could... just... be regular. Like other girls. Non homicidal ones.
"I can't... can't do this, Ciss... can't... be normal... I'm sorry..."

Cissie
Oh...jeez. Nervous break downs arent good... I walk up the stairs, put a hand on her shoulder lightly. "Dont be sorry... I said Id keep my eye on you remember? Maybe not now but in the future right?". Gently putting my arm around her shoulders, guiding her down the stairs. "Come on. You want to go home?". I say softly, gently, soothing. Trying to calm her down.

Spades
I flinch at her touch, but let her lead me, my eyes distant. I nodded slightly
"Yes... Please."

Cissie
I nod, going to my class to tell the teacher about the three stooges in the stairwell. Giving a small smile to Spades. "Ill let you in on a little secret?". I offer as we go to the office.

Spades
I looked up at her, listening "Sure, I'm all ears" I said as we neared the office

Cissie
I chuckle slightly. "Bein normal is overrated.". I lower my voice to a whisper. "And hanging around with a bunch of superheroes never helps ones attempts. Trust me.".

Spades
"Well... not normal, really... but... more like the rest of the team" I said quietly "Noble and heroic and all of that. I'm just... screwed up. I can't even /fake/ being /sane/ for one day"

Cissie
"because youre you, and nothing should change that. Weve all got our bad things of our past, but they shape who we are today. And as you go on in life, more experiences will be added and they'll be the force to change you.". We go into the office and get her ride settled with Alfred. After as we wait for him to show up and the three punks go by with the nurses to their office, i give her a small smile. "Cant build Rome in a day, Lizzy, and even God needed seven. Dont expect so much in such a short amount if time alright?". Patting her back as the buttler makes his appearance. I stand from the chair and pause. "Still got my eye on you, missy. But you ever need me just call alright?"

Spades
"Thanks, Ciss... and in the meantime, you can go back to your regularly scheduled job of keeping Roy relatively sane" I said with a slight chuckle, before getting into the car.

The bell rings and I glance down the hall. At least psych was done with... I start back to my class to get my bag, go off to my next class.

Alfred tugs on his black gloves and adjusts them, putting the car in drive and starting back. "Well, Miss Green. Besides most recent events, how was the first day?"

"Um... it went... fine. I guess. Until most recent events" I sighed, looking out the window

Alfred glanced over out of the corner of his eye. "would you like anything when we get to the Mannor? Some scones are ready, i do believe. With some tea?"
