"I...actually don't really care, to be honest," Peter answered, looking at his shirt. "I mean, it's not even mine; it was provided by the Organization. Their clothes get shredded all the time. Then again, I guess it wouldn't be the best idea to be walking around with a shirt soaked in blood, either. Yeah, I'll clean it."

Cricket shrugged. Lowlanders, wouldn't care. In fact, some said the bloodier and torn, the better. Nonetheless he nodded to the kitchen, the one place with a working faucet. "If that doesn't work, there's bound t' be a shirt lying 'round 'ere somewhere."

((I think I'm going to switch to Peter's perspective.))

"Alright, thanks," I said, heading in the direction he indicated.

((Oh wait, totally forgot that I have a pretty good conversation starter right here. I think that was actually where I was going with the cleaning, anyway xD))

As much as it made me quite self-concious, I removed my shirt so I could clean it properly. I frowned at the fresh injuries, recovered a bit but still not fully healed. And then there was that big, ugly scar. A burn scar, nearly completely covering the right side of my stomach area. It doesn't matter how many years have gone by since I got it; I can't help but have the memories come back whenever I see it. Trying to ignore it now, I worked on cleaning my shirt.

Cricket leaned against the doorway, waiting. His eyes peeked out a slit in his bangs, wandering around the room to avoid watching Peter. But something caught his eye. He only glanced at the mark, then leaned back against the doorframe and closed his eyes. "Almost lose another battle, I'm guessing?" He asked casually.

Peter
"Ah, not exactly," I said, kind of embarassed. "I was twelve at the time. Had...er, an unnatural earthquake, put it that way. I was trapped under rubble, with a sizeable hunk of whatever lodged in my gut. There was no one around to help, so I had to pull it out myself. I cauterized the wound immediately after so I wouldn't die of bloodloss before help could arrive. Couldn't switch places with Sesria because there were Sybek about, which, incidentally was also the reason there was an earthquake. Anyway, I was glad that I didn't pass out from shock or something while I was burning myself."
I wrung the shirt out as best as I could, unrolled it, and put it on. It was damp, yeah, but I was already pretty wet from standing in the rain anyway.

Cricket glanced at him and whistled something. "Oi my my. Me, I couldn't do that." He rubbed his neck. "Tough."

Peter
"Eh," I said, shrugging, "I don't really think I'm all that tough. I dunno, it was just life or death." I gave a short, humorless laugh. "Then again, I guess I'm used to those kinds of situations. Growing up was sort of...nasty." I paused. "It's tough around here, too, isn't it? The stuff in the Archives about Luna didn't look too great."

Cricket smirked. "Well...y'get used t' it," he said dryly. His smile faded a little. "Once you get over th' violent, scraping-for-food, paranoia, gangs, guns, constant-danger-everytime-you-step-outside part o' things, you can find some real nice aspects." He wiped some wet hair out of his face.

Peter
"I take it that those aspects are difficult finds," I said with a small, wry grin. "Sounds worse than where I grew up, and that's saying something."
"I can attest to zat," Senet said, "seeing as we ghrew up in ze same place."

"Well then, I s'pose it's not fair for me t' say. Someone else might get along just fine 'ere...but me, well...people tend not t' be too fond me where I grew up." With a smile he left it at that. "Where'd you grow up, then?"

Peter
"I'm not really sure, to be honest," I answered. "Never learned the name of the place. Granted, I started growing up in a small town in America called ((I haven't actually decided yet)). I actually grew up in some city...also America, but a drastically different version of it. One with acid rain, wild dogs, bombings...and the whole place was abandoned except for a murderous group of refugees. It was tough to be outside, but we could at least get all the resources we needed from deserted shops. We made our home in a bomb shelter near a river, and as long as we were secretive about it, we were alright."

Cricket rubbed his neck. "Sounds somewhat familiar, almost. Minus th' acid rain and such. And instead of wild dogs we've got thieves and assassins, th' way most of 'em act," he said, not mentioning the fact that he was classified in the 'thief' catagory. "But 'oly 'ell, if you're looking for a good quality about this place you'll find it in th' music."

What tom-foolery shall we get up to today?

"Huh, that's interesting," I said. "See, that's one thing I really missed back in the city. There was no music anywhere. Heck, there usually wasn't a single sound to be heard most of the time. There was either explosions, rain, wind, or it was dead quiet. Well, that's not entirely true; you could hear the occasional dog barking."

((Dang-gummit, switching back and forth between different perspectives in different chats is confusing... x_x))

Cricket cocked his head, paced a little, trying to imagine a world without music. "Oi my my...that, friend, is a bit depressing."

Peter
"It sure was," I agreed. "But that wasn't nearly the most depressing aspect of the place."
"Not by fahr!" Senet put in.

Cricket smirked. "I would ask you t' elaborate, but unfortunately I'm not th' best listener when it comes t' depressing things."

Peter
"That's good, then," I said dryly, "because I don't like talking about depressing things."
