Sound of Madness

Devon sat down across from her and licked his chocolate ice cream. "So..." He wasn't sure what he wanted to talk to her about.

(Derek should find out about them)

"How is life at home?" Demi as him softly as she ate.

Derek walked down the street, heading to the corner CVS. He passed the ice cream store and saw Devon and Demi sitting and eating ice cream. He narrowed his eyes at them and went in.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" He asked, leaning on the table.

Devon glanced up when Derek siad something. Fuck. "What do you mean?" He said, blowing it off. "Two friends eating ice cream. Is there a problem?"

"I just find it odd. Seeing as first you make sure I find her a home. And now you are eating ice cream with her out of the blue?" Derek raised an eye brow. Demi blushed lightly when he showed up.

"Keeping in touch. It's not like you and Carly weren't sneaking out the whole time I banned you, I'm not stupid," Devon took a lucky guess. "You wanted to keep in touch. I'm keeping in touch with /my/ friend."

"She looks like more than a friend right now. With the way she is blushing." Derek pointed out. "I know that blush, dude. I dated her. Thats her, 'Fuck, i've been caught' blush."

Devon shrugged. "So what? Is it any of your business?"

"Seeing as she is my ex, and I still care about her, and that she is a minor and you....arent, Then yes. It does matter." Derek pointed out, his eyes cold on him.

"This is just as friends, in my perspective," Devon said with a shrug, unphased. "You think I'd stoop as low as to date a minor?"

Demi bit her tongue and looked down at her ice cream. 'stoop as low'? The phrase played in her mind but she kept her face emotionless.
"I'd think you'd date a pretty girl like Demi, no matter her age."

"I haven't even /thought/ of her that way, actually. She's Carly's age, that'd be...disgusting." Devon made a face.

Demi shoved a spoonful of ice cream into her mouth to keep from saying something.
"Alright. Whatever you say. If I do find out you are with her..." Derek let his voice carry off before walking away.

"God, he's a dick," Devon muttered when Derek left. "I'm so glad he's not with my sister anymore."

"Yeah. Total douche." Demi agreed softly. She ate another bite of ice cream and kept her eyes down.

"Something wrong?" Devon asked, his brow furrowing as he watched her.

"'I would never stood as low?'" She quoted softly. "'That'd be...disgusting.'" She quoted again, looking down at her ice cream. Part of her knew that she said that just to get rid of Derek. But still, it hurt to hear him say it.

"Demi." Devon groaned. "You know I didn't mean any of it."

"Still hurt to hear you say it." Demi mumbled softly to him.

"Look," Devon said, putting his finger under her chin and tilting it gently up so she'd look at him. "I love you, and something stupid like age isn't going to drive us apart." He knew that would slap him in the face later, the only reason he could see them breaking up was because of the age difference.

"you...you love me?" Demi muttered softly. Her voice was soft as she spoke.

Dammit. He hadn't meant to say that yet. Devon looked down at the tabletop, dropping his finger from her chin. "Yeah...I do." He glanced up at her, his face getting a little red, and looking back down.

Demi smiled to him as he blsuehd. She reached over and put her own hand under his chin and had him look up at her. "Good. Because I love you." SHe whispered softly.

Devon grinned and pulled away from her hand, leaning back in his chair. "Good."

"Good?" Demi laughed lightly and went back to her ice cream. "Wanna get out of here?" She asked as she pushed around the mush in her bowl.

"Yeah, good." Devon shrugged. "Let's go." He stood up and grabbed all their trash tossing it in the garbage.
