Daughter of Darkness

"wh-what do you want" Artemis managed, trying to sound stronger than she felt.
Mason look her over, obviously amused by her question, "Ah, how very welcoming of you, Artemis" he replied, his voice like velvet "I just came to see how you were doing, no need to take on that tone" while his face and tone was pleasant, his eyed became hard an menacing as he keeled down to her level. He reached his hand out and stroked her chin. She remained frozen in place, fear running through her. "what?" he asked, cocking a smile as his hands cupped the back of her head, gripping her hair firmly "you really have grown into quite the beauty. It's a pitty.." he dwindled off and moved to close the distance between them

The shadows crept closer as did Izzy, still careful not to be seen. He resisted the urge to growl at Mason, it didn't seem right him being so close to her.

Mason held her gaze for a moment and she shivered, unable to pull her head away from his steel grip. He raised an eyebrow and covered her mouth with his. Her eyes opened wide for a moment, not able to comprehend what was happening. Then his hand moved for her bra strap and she snapped out of her stupor, struggling to break free from his grip. This only excited him and he responded eagerly, deepening the kiss. His hot breath mixing with hers making her want to gag in disgust. She fell limp, giving up.

Izzy snarled and shoved Mason off of her, the shadows covering Mason and holding him down. Izzy tried to help Artemis up.

In her cell Mirissa's eyes had that weird shine to them again, her voice starting to come through the shadows.
"You will not touch her."

Mason froze at the voice and grinned "well well well, Mirissa. Seems your powers are growing" he smirked, ignoring the spirits binding him "and what is your attachment to this pathetic being? do you forget who control you? let me go and I just might allow you some darkness tonight"
Artemis remained quivering in her place, only moving to scoot further back into the shadows of the room

Mirissa felt her anger grow, as did the strength of the shadows. Uneasy voices came from outside her cell where the shadows were moving restlessly.
"Light is not my concern. I don't need to see when I'm just sitting here in a cell." She said, her voice dangerously calm. "You do not control me."

Izzy stayed next to Artemis.

Mason scoffed, his mood souring "release me" he demanded "or you will regret it"

Mirissa chuckled, the shadow's echo of it sounding menacing. "It seems to me that I can't regret something that I'm in control of. What are you going to do if I don't release you?"

"there are orders for the guards to kill you on site if so much but a hair is missing from my dashing head" he grinned, "you don't release me- you die"

Mirissa yawned, "You don't seriously think I'm afraid of dying anymore do you?" Shouts came from outside her cell where the shadows were drawing even closer to the guards. "Besides, they are a little.... busy right now."

Mason managed to force himself into a seated position, his eyes locking on Artemis and gleaming "oh, you aren't? but if you die, who will protect the girl" he grinned, his eyes forcing artemis to hold his gaze. She whimpered

"Izzy?" she asked silently and he nodded, stepping closer to Artemis.
"I'll protect you." he whispered in her ear, unsure if she could see him or not.
Mirissa smirked, "I know people." She told Mason.

Artemis swallowed hard, Izzys words giving her strength "leave" she told him, her voice unsure "leave me be" she repeated, confidence filling her voice "leave!" she yelled, mentally opening the door and throwing him out of the cell

Mirissa let go of the shadows and slumped against the wall. That used up a lot of strength, her head spun.

Izzy smiled, proud of her. "That was awesome Artemis."

Mason brushed himself off and stood up. what had just happened? Did artemis just? he chuckled and smiled to himself, now thing were getting fun.
Artemis fought hard to quill her shaking "oh my god.. oh my god.. I just?no!" she groaned "I'm so dead now"

Izzy solidified himself and wrapped his arms around her, "Shhh, I'll protect you if he comes back."

Mirissa breathed slowly, trying so hard not to pass out.

Artemis nodded weakly, feeling back out around her "mirissa?"

Mirissa had to concentrate hard to reply, "Yes?"

"...thanks.... you okay?"

Mirissa made her thoughts sound a little better than she felt. "I'm...fine."

"lier" artemis scoffed "what is it?"

Mirissa sighed, "Just a little tired." Black spots flashed through her vision. "I'd never done something like that before."

"rest up then" she told her "we should be fine for now"

Mirissa nodded and let go, the second she stopped resisting she passed out.

Izzy smiled, then blushed realizing he was still holding Artemis. "I'm sorry." He started to pull away.

Artemis stirred, just realizing it as well "s'ok" she sighed, "thank you"
