Till Death Do Us Part..

Artemis gripped the flashlight and him tightly "wh-what, why can't you do it?" she squeaked in fear

Grace flinched and shoved herself deeper into the corner as she heard footsteps..

"Because my hands are sort of full." Mark said as he motioned that he was holding her with one hand, the other still holding his lighter just incase.

Brendon felt his head spin slightly, his light still not fully recharged. He watched as someone rattled the locked door.

Grace pulled herself up and put a hand on Brendon as she walked over to him. She pushed some of the light shed gotten from him back. He would need it.

Artemis swallowed hard and shinned the light, squeezing her eyes shut, unable to bring herself to look "you- you look!" she begged

Mark rolled his eyes and looked. There was some guy standing there. Actually a whole bunch of people. He opened his mind. They were just humans. "Artemis?" said the man as he looked between her and Mark who was holding her. Crap...this looked really bad...

Brendon motioned for Grace to move back to her spot as a wrinkled pale hand punched through the door with long, black pointed nails and twisted the door nob.

Grace flinched and scrambled back into the corner.

The little boy was already gone, scared shitless and off to find better protectors.
Artemis nearly fell to her knees in relief, "dad?" She blushed crimson as she realized how this looked. "um, hi?" she croked, quickly stepping out of Mark's arms

They burst through the door and charged at Brendon who quickly and easily cut down the first two, the next two being a little harder. They swiped at him and barely missed the first few times, the second time, they managed to cut his cheek open. He growled and swung his sword at the one, cutting into it as the other moved around him and made it's way towards the spirits. Just as it reached out, it's hand inches away from Grace, Brendon shoved the sword through it's back, the end coming straight through to the front. It screamed a high piched, blood curtling scream before it turned to ashes.


Mark stood there looking sheepish. "H-hello sir." he muttered.
"Artemis, what are you doing?" He said, his eyes flickering between her and Mark rapidly.

Artemis looked down at her feet "I was lost.. Mark came and found me" she replied, hoping he would believe her

Grace stared in front of her, shaking violently. A bit of the ash touched her skin and the color fled her face. A second later she fainted.

"He found you?" Her father asked as he looked between them. Mark gave a nod.
"Yes sir, I know this looks bad sir. But I swear I wasn't doing anything. I heard she was lost sir and I came to look for her and found her a few minutes before you showed up."
Her father looked at him skeptically but gave a small nod and waved Artemis over to him. "come on, it's time to go home."

Brendon stood there looking pale as he sunk onto the couch, his eyes threatening to fall closed.

Bridget was patting Grace's face in an attempt to wake her up.

Grace stirred a little, and forced herself to sit up.

Brendon looked over at them. "Are you alright?"

Grace smiled shortly, "Fine, you?" As usual when she's lying her Italian accent came out.

Brendon just gave a small nod and closed his eyes as he tried to stay at least concious, his ears straining towards the door just incase something else happened.

Grace watched him worried. "Are you sure?"

Artemis nodded and shot mark a grateful look before falling in besides her father "thank you" she whispered, knowing he'd know she meant it for more than just finding her tonight

Brendon gave a small nod. "Just took lots of energy." He said and reached up, touching the gash in his cheek and looked at the blood and sighed. "They were faster than the ones I'm use to."

Mark gave a small nod and watched as she walked away with her father, leaving him in the darkened forest. He sighed, putting the lighter back in his pocket and opened his mind. With a flick of his wrist his palms had lit up and he use the dull red glow to find his way home.

Grace nodded, "You were amazing. " she said without thinking then blushed.

Brendon smiled and chuckled. "I'm surprised we made it through that one." He murmered as Mark walked in.
"What happened?" he asked, crossing the room in only a few steps.

Grace jumped back from she'd been approaching Brendon on the couch. "Searchers came."
