Till Death Do Us Part..

Artemis smiled softly, "alright" she slipped off the bench, her dark hair falling to cover her face again

Mark forced himself to stand, taking a deep breath as he steadied himself then held out his hand to her. "Just incase I fall, then you can pull me back up." he reasoned.

Artemis raised an eyebrow but consented, placing her hand in his "only cause you almost lost your soul" she warned, ignoring how warm his hand felt

Mark smiled, his hand eveloping hers as their fingers intertwined. He walked towards McDonalds. "Drive through? or shall we go in?"

Artemis looked around and laughed "we don't have a car! go in!"

Mark looked at her and shrugged. "You can still go through the drive through." he said as he opened the door for her and took her inside. "What will you have m'lady?"

Artemis licked her lips thoughtfully, "french fries and a shake?"

Mark chuckled and watched her. "Well, tell the man not me." He said gesturing towards the man behind the counter.

"french fries and a shake please" She repeated
"alright, what flavor?" the man asked, "we have chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, ras-"
"vanilla please" she smiled, cutting him off

Mark chuckled as he watched her and the man looked at him expectantly. His stomach quivered at the thought of food but got a super sized fry and paid before he led Artemis over to a table and sat across from her. "Still not convinced you should try other flavors huh?"

Artemis shrugged "what can I say, I'm stupid" she sighed and rubbed her head "what now?"

"You're not stupid." Mark said sternly, almost angrily as he watched her. "Don't ever call yourself that. Ever."

(stubborn, I meant stubborn! >.<)
"Stubborn" she startled " i meant stubborn. sorry, blame it on the low blood sugar" she blushed

Mark watched her for a moment, still not totally convinced. The guy from behind the counter brought them their food and he pushed the tray towards her in a silent gesture that said "eat."

Artemis complied, eagerly taking a big gulp of the shake. "yum" she breathed "vanilla"

Mark chuckled and rolled his eyes, his stomach rolling with them. He watched her eat, not touching his fries. "so, I'm thinking it might not be safe for you..here...anymore..." he looked down at the table.

Artemis swallowed hard and pushed her shake away, picking at the fries "what do you propose then? that I run away with you guys, never to see my family again?"

"Do you want your family to live? Not in a nursing home?" Mark asked her seriously. "I'm not saying you can never see them again. I'm just saying..sooner or later...they're going to find you and your family if you don't..lead them away. I can do as much as I can if you want to stay, but I'm not garunteeing complete safety."

oh wow, he was... serious? she was just joking "can't this all just go back to normal?" she begged, "you know, no searches, just annoying dead people"
god, she couldn't believe she actually thought that was normal. And what's more- she couldn't believe she was actually yearning for it.

Mark shook his head as he watched her, his eyes sad. "No. It can't. They'll keep coming if they know you are here for sure." He watched her. "Me and Brendon can clear out as soon as possible if you'd like. And you can take your chances. You know how to contact me." He slid out of his seat and stood.

Artemis remained frozen in her seat "wait" she finally managed "if I leave, my parents will be safe?"

Mark watched her and sighed. "Safer at least." His eyes were sad, sad that she had to make this decision. For him it hadn't been bad. There was no one to stay for. But for her..

Artemis ground her teeth, her hands balling up into fist "fine" she sighed, her shoulders dropping in defeat "but if you think my parents are letting me out of their sight after another night of being aol, you're nuts. When are we leaving?"

Mark sighed as he watched her. "I'll give you two days. You can say your goodbyes and set things in order, while we get our things in order." He watched her, his eyes sad. "I am truly sorry." he murmered.

Artemis shrugged and pushed away her food, "s'not your fault i was born with this curse"
