Daughter of Darkness

Mirissa sighed happily, watching the split ends and all that uneven hair fall to the ground. "Thanks Kale!" she exclaimed when he was done and ran to the other room to show Jack.

(Just searched through all the pages on the other thread...Daughteroflight still never replied to one of them...lol)

Kale looked over at Artemis and gave a small smile. "Do you want one before I put everything away?" He asked, not expecting her to really answer. He wished he could talk to her, like Mirissa talked to him. Life would be a little easier that way. At least then he'd know what she was thinking.

Jack was staring at a rock with deep thought and concentration.

Mirissa was practically jumping up and down. "Look Jack!" She spun around letting the layers flip around a little. "Isn't it pretty?" She was grinning broadly.

Artemis shook her head "no thank you" she whispered. She liked her long hair, it kept her hidden from the world when the shadows couldn't

*tackles tay* I've missed you...

eep! *gets tackled* you have?

Jack looked up from the rock and his jaw dropped slightly, "it looks wonderful on you." He finally got out.

Kale watched her for a moment. "You sure? I could just give it a small trim, nothing to major."

"Thanks!" She said and continued to spin, her vision a mixture of black and white. Dizziness overtook her and she started stumbling. Laughing she fell to the ground. "I haven't laughed in so long." She gasped happily.

Jack chuckled as he watched her. "I'm glad to see you're happy Mirissa. Really glad." His eyes searched her face, unable to help themselves as they scanned her body, though not in a defiling way. "You sound like an angel when you laugh."

(mhm, why does that surprise you?)

Artemis glanced down at her hair. the dark locks fell past her waist and to her knees, it's not like they offered barber services in the prison. She ran her fingers through it and frown "perhaps just the split ends" she consented, slipping off her seat nervously "but not too much"

"Just show me where you want me to cut to," Kale said as he motioned her over.

Mirissa laughed again and looked in his general direction. "Well, thank you. I don't believe I've been told that before." She smiled and judged the distance between them by the black dots when he breathed. Her brows drawn together she scooted towards him. Of course she missed the little hill between them and tumbled over into him. She started laughing lightly again.

Jack caught her and chuckled, helping her up so she was standing right infront of him. "You alright?"

She kept laughing, her eyes sparkling happily. "I'm fine." She informed him. "Just a little dizzy. I was trying to sit next to you."

Jack chuckled and sat down, sitting her on his lap. "Well, there isn't a chair next to me."

"Oh." She said blushing. Thinking carefully she laid back on him and smiled. "This is a good enough chair for me anyway. "

Artemis frowned and gestured to waist level "here is good.. I think" she wrapped her arms around him.

Kale smiled at her and nodded. "You might have to let go, just for a moment so that I can cut your hair." He chuckled.

Jack did his best not to wince and just smiled at her. "Well I'm glad."

Mirissa put her head below his chin and smiled. "Jack?" She hesitated, unsure if she should continue.

((Dinner time))

Artemis nodded, utterly confused and shocked to find her arms around him..
She snapped them around her herself and sat, falling silent

"Yes, Mirissa?" Jack asked as he held her, waiting for her to turn and beat him to death or something.

Kale smiled at her and gently pulled her hair up and over the back of the chair, before sliding his scissors through it carefully. He styled the tips, giving it some layers, then looked over at her. "Alright, stand up and tell me if that's short enough."

Artemis obeyed, twirling and watching the locks settle around her waist, a good 2 feet shorter than when she first sat down. She nodded "thank you"

"Any time." Kale said with a small smile and then began to clean up, grabbing the broom from the corner and sweeping the hair into a pile. "Artemis....can I ask you a question?"

Artemis froze, her hair wrapping around herself as she met his gaze "yes?"

Kale watched her for a long moment. "Why are you so afraid of me?"

((I walked into my friends kitchen to say to her cousin I remembered being very dorky......and walked back out seeing a very hot Guy. ))
