Mikey: "What exactly do you mean by a 'lifeline'?"

Karma: "It's what Mythics call all the events in your life strung together."

Mikey: "Oh, that's probably why I have never heard of that term before."

Karma:"And you won't ever. After you leave this cave your memory will be wiped of me. You won't remember a thing I said - aside from the karma."

Mikey: "But why?"

Karma: "Dejavu, fate, karma - they're all supposed to be tales made up to scare people, to teach them a lesson. And that's the magic in it. No mortal truly knows whether these forces are real. And we want it to stay that way."

Mikey: "I'm not gonna tell anyone. Besides, I don't really believe those things anyway."

Karma: "Really? Even when they're before your very eyes?" I pointed to myself. "Even when you have felt the sting of their punishments?"

Mikey: I stayed silent. I didn't know how to answer that. It wasn't a lie when I said that I had never believed in that stuff before meeting Karma.

Laila- "So what was the point of you even coming here then? If we're just going to forget everything."

Karma: I cackled. "Who doesn't like to have fun every once in awhile?"

Mikey: I stayed silent, watching the two converse. Maybe it was best for me to forget. . .

Laila- "You call this fun?"

Mikey: "Seriously? Messing with other people! That isn't fun at all!"

Karma: "Another matter of opinion, perspective, and view. Dejavu!" I cackled at the pun.

Mikey: I scowled for a moment, but then I relaxed. "Fine then."

Karma: Of course, they wouldn't get the joke. Oh well, I was content with loneliness.

Mikey: I sighed. If I had forgotten all my memories, that would be so much better.

Karma: "I could do that for you - but then I'd be considered a good person. And I'd lose my job," I smirked.

Mikey: I laughed a bit. "Well, I'm not expecting you to do that. It would be nice, but I'm fine."

Karma: "Exactly why I'm not doing it. It would be nice."

Mikey: "I get that."

Laila- "You're nuts." I say silently to Karma.

Karma: I faked a yawn. "Haven't we been through this? I'm nuts in the eyes of the beholder. On occasion. Again, just a matter of opinion, view, and idea."

Mikey: "So what's going to happen now?"
