Rusty Hearts

Tora: Id begun to space out again when i saw people walking and wordlessly followed, lugging my heavy bag with me. This building was like my house but not like my house. I felt like i should know it but i didnt. It was wierd. But i liked it outside..... back home, in the city, there had been big tall buildings everwhere and noise and people and TOO MUCH STUFF EVERYWHERE. It had been boxed in and loud and crowded and id hated it to the point where i would occasionally stay in my room for days on end. But here the air didnt smell bad and it was quieter and there was lots of open space and animals. Maybe it was good that my parents had taken me here and then disappeared......

Raine followed slowly behind, lagging behind all the others. She had glanced around at the guys and most of them seemed cute and muscular...exactly the kind that scared her. Hopefully, during her stay here, they would leave her alone and let her stay to herself.

Luca smirked and followed beside some guy (Raphael). He looked like he wanted to cause some trouble and Luca was all for that. The girl that was lagging behind looked sad, scared even. She had glanced around a few times, looking everyone over. But now she kept looking at her hands. He rolled his eyes and kept walking.

Raphael looked around with almost hidden glee, thinking of all the chaos he could do here. He bit the inside of his lips to keep from smiling. Yeah, he'd do some work here, he liked the feeling of acomplishing somthing, but at night....

Azriel showed them their rooms, tossed their bags on their beds then herded back to the front door. "Which animals ya guys wanna see first?" Azriel relaxed somewhat and looked at them waiting for an answer. He was confident he could handle them, they'd be no physical threat, and he proably knew every trick in the book. He use to be like them, troubled. He'd done everything from sneaking out to parties, to other stuff he was not going to allow himself to remember.

Tora: We went to some room and i left my bag there, trying to make sure i remembered how to get back there, and then wound up back at the front door. I spotted more birds flying outside and felt myself drifting, but the mention of 'animals' brought my gaze back to the people around me, focused. A question had been asked. But i remained silent. As long as we were going to see animals, i didnt care what kind of animals we saw. Any kind was good.

Luca rolled his eyes. "How about the jackass?" Then he chuckled. "Oh wait...It's already standing in front of us." He smirked and watched to see what Azriel would this. This was going to be a lot of fun. He would show them and his parents that no one could control him.

Raine didn't say a word. She didn't care what they saw, she just wanted to be alone. Fat chance of that happening though.

Azriel gave a dark smile, somthing that promised trouble. "Thank you for that comment. I believe jackasses have more brains then the wittle boy standing in front of me." His voice went serious for a second. "They actually are quite intelligent." He stared down at him, towering over him.

Raphael's head went back and laughed, somthing he'd been holding in. He averted his gaze away from them. "They are." He'd worked with enough of them to know that.

(*Rubs leg* Their kicks hurt like hell!)

Luca just smirked. "This wittle boy is gonna kick your ass if you don't back it up." His eyes grew darker now, promising a fight. This wasn't a good way to start his time here, but oh well. What happens, happens. Azriel was going to keep them from having fun, this he already knew.

Azriel shook his head and sighed dramatically. "Sarah go get the first aid kit. We'll be picking city slicker off the walls for a week if you don't." He took a step towards Luca, his eyes suddenly gone cold.

Raphale took a step back.

Sarah sighed, slammmed her laptop shut, then marched towards them. Her voice came out cold. "No fighting on my ranch." She gave the other boy a cold glare that would stop anyone in their tracks. "In my opion only boys fight, men talk." She opend the door. "Give them their tore Azriel. If anything happens I'm promising if, You," She points at Luca, "Start anything you'll be mucking the stalls in the morning." She pokes Azriel in the chest. "Same goes for you."

Tora: I could feel tension...... like bad things were going to happen. I frowned, pushing a strand of blue hair out of my face absently. If they started fighting, i was going to go find a tree to climb..... people fighting bothered me. So much yelling and anger and tension..... it was unnecessary and it wasnt fun to listen to. My parents often argued and i would always disappear when they did..... i couldnt take it. But then some lady i vaguely remembered seeing earlier stepped in. There would be no fighting.... good.

Luca smirked but didn't move. "He lives in might one. Might as well muck it too, jackass." He wanted a fight badly. And a drink. Both would be nice but the stupid lady was getting involved. Why were they outlawing all the fun stuff around here?

Sarah stood between them and looked down her nose at him, despite her small height. "Move it. Now."

Azriel put a hand on her shoulder. He knew she'd taken taekwondo in the past, and he'd been on the recieving line of a joint lock she'd used on his elbow the second day he'd been at the ranch. "Why don't you go see if that guy out of town wanted that bay? We need the money." Azriel sighed, the anger leaking out of him. He knew better then to fight, it got no one nowhere, but did land you enemys. He looked back at him ."You hear her." He smirked. "If it's the jacks you're wanting to see, then that's what we'll see." He silently hoped one'd kick him.

Raphale was getting bored, but was quite curios about their horses. He'd have to wait though. He'd heard rumors that they were begining to become the best horse breeders in the business.

Luca smirked and moved away. He was bored with this place already, and decided to sneak away soon. The alcohol seemed to be calling him. Azriel seemed to be okay now and Luca almost laughed. The woman had such obvious power over him. It was pathetic.

Azriel hearded the group out and smiled politely at the girls as they moved past him. He looked over at the field next to the house to see Zeus running with the mares. His black hair shining in the sun's light. Azriel stared at him for a second, mesmerized as he always got when looking at a horse. He remembered the day he'd gotten him....he'd been bloody and skinny from his old owner. You wouldn't have known that that had been this powerful animal running like the wind. He heard the donkeys braying and looked over to see them at their gate, wanting their turn in the field. He went over to them and rubbed their ears. "Not now fellows." He motioned them over. "You can pet them if you want."

Luca went ahead, not wanting to draw too much more attention to himself at the moment. His eyes were drawn to the horses and he smiled slightly. He had been raised around horses and he loved them. Riding would be fun, especially the big strong black one.

Raine pulled the hoodie of her jacket onto her head and sighed. She stayed behind all the others as usual, not going to touch the animals.

Tora: A bright smile appeared on my face as we approached a group of donkeys. I petted one happily, marvelling over the big ears. Id never seen a donkey before, except in pictures...... they were so adorable! Id seen horses before, though. My parents had, upon request, signed me up for riding lessons when i was younger. Id been going up to the barn once a week since i was ten, riding and looking after the horses, and i loved it. The fact that there were horses here made this place seem that much better.

Azriel watched Luca and decided he couldn't cause to much trouble, not with all the farm hands busilly moving around working. He chuckled watching the one girl go straight to them. He then noticed the girl (Raine) in the back that handn't moved forward. He went back to her and he gave her a small smile. "You sure you wouldn't like to meet them, or would you rather meet the horses?"

Luca smirked and continued to interact with the animals, thinking about how he could cause trouble later. But first he would sneak away and drink a little.

Raine stiffened and looked down. She hadn't said a word in over two weeks and she wasn't about to start. The guy was cute but made her nervous. They all did. She just shrugged and continued to stare at the ground. Maybe meeting the animals wouldn't be so bad.

He whislted and one of the donkeys came over, a small old mare. Her ears were a bit longer then the rest, and her hair was a dark grey. She nuzzled his hand, asking for a treat. He pulled out a carrot, somthing he always had in his pockets, and fed it to her. He pulled out another and put one in her hand. "Feed her if you want."

Raphael went to follow the Luca guy. He lowered his voice. "Got anything to drink on you tonight? My mom took all of mine." He eyed Zeus. He nodded menatlly to himself. No wonder they were becoming better breeders.

Raine quietly did as he said and almost smiled as the donkey nuzzled her hand. She reached out the other hand and touched the long ears. They were soft and the donkey looked up at her, the eyes almost telling her it understood her pain. She hoped Azriel was tell her it's name.

Luca nodded slightly. "Yeah, I have some. Thinking of sneaking out later. Wanna join?" He smirked and continued to pet the soft donkey.

Raphael gave a slow smile. "As long as you have enough I'll pass out tonight, and as long as it's none of that light stuff." His nose wrinkled and went up to the fence as one of the mares came over. He stroked her neck and scratched behind her ears. "And as long as we do it away from the horses. I don't want them hurt."

Azriel smiled and laid a hand on the donkey's back. "Her name's Penny. Don't know how she got that name." He shrugged and shook his head.

Raine nodded and stepped closer, stroking the animal. Penny was a nice name and it seemed to fit her. The donkey nuzzled her shoulder and she grinned. THis wasn't going to be so bad.

Luca rolled his eyes. "Whoa there. Too many rules, bro. I don't like rules." He leaned against the fence and watched everyone around him.

Raphael gave him a look. "As long as it's not near the horses." He smirked. "And it dosn't seem like you're a light guy anyway." He frowned as another horse pushed the mare away and scratched the paint along its back.

Azriel smiled. He was happy she seemed to be calming down some. "Would you like to meet my horse Zeus? Maybe I can tell you mine and his story. We've been through a lot."

Raine blinked, hardly believing the guy actually wanted to talk to her. Why would he want to do that? She thought about it and then nodded. Horses were great. But she was reluctant to leave Penny.

Luca chuckled. "I only drink the best." He petted the mare that had just been shoved away and grinned. Even horses had bad attitudes.

Azriel chuckled. "She'll follow. She's more of a dog here then a donkey." He put his hand on her back and lead her to the horse pasture. He opend the gate for her. He noticed Raphael and Luca, but ignored them. He whistled, and Zeus's head popped up fromt the grass he'd been eating. He answered with a neigh, thinking he was going to get a treat and trotted over to them. Azriel rubbed his nose. "Hello there old friend. Meet..." He looked over at her, not having known her name.

Rapheal grinned. "Good. " He watched Zeus run over to Azriel and that one girl.

Raine stiffened at his touch but didn't make a move to stop him. As soon as he whistled, the horse bounded over to them. When Azriel asked her name, she lifted her sleeve to reveal a tattoo of her name. She had gotten it secretly and now used it to tell people her name.

Luca grinned. Th big black horse had run over to Azriel and the quiet girl. he was slightly jealous.
