Raine leaned against the alley wall next to her apartment building. She came out here at night to think, to get away from the noise of life. He came into her mind but she pushed him out. He had broken her heart months ago, and she was so over him.

Rusty sighed as he walked down the deserted streets. He ran his hand through his dark hair and his grey eyes had lost their edge they usually had. SHE kept pushing into his mind. His skin crawled at the idea of apologizing, but...he shook his head. No.

Raine sighed and she walked out of the alley, headed into the quiet town. Nothing was open but she needed to clear her head. Why did he keep entering her mind? She was over him..right? Taking a deep breath, she nodded. Even if he was to run into him right now, she wouldn't take him back.

Rusty stopped in his tracks as he heard someone and he froze seeing her. His eyes turned back to beign emotionless. "Good morning m'lady." His old english accent slipped into his voice.

Raine's mouth dropped. No, no it couldn't be. He was...Well, apparently he was standing right in front of her. His accent and deep voice washed over her and she had to shut her eyes to gain her composure again. Deciding the best course of action was to ignore him, she took a deep breath and moved to walk past him.

Rusty took a step, found himself unable to go further and cursed under his breath. He turned and used his long legs to his advantage to keep up with her. He opend his mouth a couple times, then sighed. He closed his eyes briefly, then for the first time ever, he apologized. "I'm sorry. I was an ass."

Raine stiffened and stopped. He was apologizing? She didn't look at him. "Yeah, you were." Then she started walking again. She was afraid that if she looked at him she would break, and her resolve of being over him would disappear. And knowing him, it probably would.

Rusty gave an exasperated sigh and kept up with her. "Please...." He didn't know what to say. He just sighed and stuffed his hands in his coat's pockets.

Raine stopped and whirled to face him. "Please what? What do you want from me, Rusty? What?" She was facing him but not directly looking at him. She couldn't let herself she his gorgeous face, toned body, gorgeous eyes... Ugh, she was breaking already.

Rusty sighed and growled under his breath. "Forgive me." His accent was especially thick, thanks to his frustration. He hesitantly raised a hand and grabbed her chin, making her look at him.

Raine felt his hand and she stiffened, closing her eyes. No, she couldn't look at him. If she did she would want him, need him. With her apartment so close, it was a bad idea. She couldn't let him get to her. But his hand...his warm, strong hand, the way he held her chin. She mentally yelled at herself not to look at him.

Rusty allowed one of his fingers to carress her jaw. "Please Raine?" He put the loneliness in his voice, his grey eyes pleading. He'd never begged or apologized before, but it didn't bug him as much as he thought it would.

Raine slowly opened her eyes, allowing herself to look at him for the first time since he had left. He hadn't changed a bit, and now she remembered why she had fallen so in love with him. "Rusty.." She breathed, not knowing what to say.

Rusty gave her a crooked smile. "Please?" For the first time he felt fear enter him. For as long as he could remember he'd never been truly afraid of anything, but the decision of this girl.....

Raine finally nodded, figuring this would help them both move on. She did forgive him now, but she still hurt inside, wondering if he had used her. His eyes seemed to really hold an apology but deep down she wondered how serious he really was.

Rusty looked into her eyes a few more seconds, before bringing her closer to him by wrapping a arm around her waist. Instead of kissing her though as he had thought of doing he pulled her into a hug. He needed to take little steps in regaining her trust, not throw it out the window.
