As Darkness Falls

Laurel: My eyes flared with fear for a moment before nodding

Alec smiled at her one last time before leaving. He didn't want to leave her side but he knew that if he didn't then she wouldn't sleep. He went to his tent grabbed a change of clothes before going to the showers. Maybe a nice cold bath would help him think.

Laurel: Idrifted off, sleeping fitfully, nightmares of the pain keeping me from a peaceful rest

Alec was glad he took the shower. It relaxed him greatly. Afterwards he went into the cafeteria and got something to eat. He still was worried about Laurel but he knew she would be okay. After all she is strong. As soon as he is done eating he goes back into the tent. He sees her sleepying so he sits in a chair quietly.

Laurel: I cried out softly in my dream, a ghost of the pain entering

Alec moved to her side. He shook her gently to wake her up. "Laurel wake up its just a dream." He wondered what was making her upset. She probally having nightmares of that place. He gritted his teeth trying not to think about it.

Laurel: I jumped awake and looked at him, trembling and plae for a second before throwing my arms around him and burying my face in his neck, shaking with great heaving sobs

Alec held her smoothing her hair trying to comfort her. "It's okay. It was just a dream." He didn't know what she dreamt about but he knew from her reaction that it was bad. It made him feel sick that he couldn't keep the bad dreams away.

Laurel: After a while I pulled back, wiping my eyes "I-I'm sorry"

Alec shook his head, "Don't worry about it. I want to comfort you." He smoothed her hair. "What happened in the dream to make you scream?"

Laurel: I swallowed "I thought they had taken me back and started hurting me again" I whispered, shuddering. The torture might not have lasted as long as some sessions I had heard, but the violence oand brutality had ruined any sense of security I had

Alec pulled her closer, "I won't let that happen ever again." He set his jaw determined to keep that promise. He would die trying to make sure she didn't have to be tortured. "We are safe for now. So don't worry."

Laurel: "For now" I murmered

Alec wanted her to feel safe but knew that wasn't going to happen. After all she just experienced something tramatic. "do you want something to eat?" He wanted to get away from the topic.

Laurel: I nodded hesitantly and started to get up

Alec helped her get up wanting her to take it easy. He carried most of her weight as they made their way to the cafeteria. When they got there he set her at a seat at a table. "What do you want to eat?"
