I had the Time of my Life

Zo sighed and looked at her. "Mind if I join you?" I asked.

Devon: "Nope," I answered, not looking up, beginning to fill out the papers.

Zo: "Cool," I said, pulling out a soda and starting on the paper work that I had. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, just there.

Devon: "So I heard," I hesitated, unsure of whether he wanted to talk about this. "You and Ashton...split."

Zo: I looked up from the papers to her and gave her a sad smile. "Yeah, but we weren't /really/ together," I clarified.

Devon: "Oh," I sounded a little to happy about that and quickly changed my tone. "Still, sorry about that."

Zo: I chuckled. "Yeah, it's fine," I said, shrugging. "It'll be good for me, not to have to focus on romance right now."

Devon: "Yeah, romance gets in the way," I agreed, half-talking myself out of even dreaming about a boyfriend.

Zo: I nodded a little. "I haven't seen you around with anyone... Why, if you don't mind me asking."

Devon: I shrugged slightly. "Too busy...and I'm pretty picky," I answered honestly. Well, half-honestly. My dad would freak out if I got a boyfriend, and not in a good way.

Zo: I chuckled. "So you set a bar and only the good guys will make it," I nodded. It was a good system.

Devon: "Yup. Less chance of heartbreak that way."

(brb gotta take a shower)

Zo: I nodded. "I should have thought of that before dating based on looks," I said, slightly disappointed in myself. "I'll have to set some better standard, so I can catch a good one."

Devon: I smirked slightly. "I never said looks wasn't part of it...though I admit it isn't /everything/."

Zo: I nodded and went back to filling out my paperwork. "I really appreciate the help, Devon."

Devon: "Your welcome, though it's really part of my job as secretary, anyway. To help the bossman." I shrugged, standing up.

Zo: I smiled and nodded. "Well, I have to go file these before lunch is over, so I'll see you around," I said, smiling before I started off.

Devon: "See ya...at the meeting," I replied, but he was already gone. I sighed and sat back down on the stairs, chin in my hand. Why was my luck with guys so sucky? I didn't need a guy anyway, I should focus on other things.

Zo: I left the papers in the office and started to my next class, thinking about the meeting. Maybe instead of the fundraiser being a carnival, we could combine it with a dance... Yeah, that could work.

Devon: I stood up and walked to class...

Should we skip to the meeting?

Lena: "Whatever Ashton like I need your sympathy. Patrik loves me anyway." I groaned as I got up off the floor.

Ashton: I laughed, turning to her. "For the record, your boyfriend is off getting some new girls number. And you're deusional if you think you had my sympathy. That was pity," I said, leaving her alone in the hallways.

Devon: I set out the big bowl of candy that we had as our "snacks" for Student Council meetings. In previous years we'd been able to get cookies and such, but we'd had a budget cut this year. I took my seat around the conference table, as the members began to trickle in.

Zo: I walked into the room with the approved paper work for the fundraiser and a smile stuck on my face. I grabbed on of the mini-candy bars, eating it quickly and then turning to Devon. "We were approved," I said.

Devon: "Great!" I beamed, and the others began mumbling happily. "Now we can work on the fun stuff. Like decorations, food, entertainment..." The papers had been for budget, now we could do whatever we wanted with the money! I wrote down what I had begun to list in the notebook I brought to every meeting.
