Dramatic Death Scenes!

"Alright, alright..." I but my hands up innocently. "Would you accept my help to untie you then?"

Winnie held up her wrists to him. "Fine..."

I smirk and help her out of them as the sirens' call comes into the distance. I look back, seeing the flashing lights in the roads. "You'll be fine now. They'll patch you up." I stand again, look the was the Joker had escaped to.

Winnie rubbed her wrists but stayed on the ground, her legs folded beneath her. She refused to show it on her face, but they hurt like shit. A really big, stinking pile of it. "I-I said I'm fine," she reassured him, looking curiously to the flashing lights. Then she caught another camera aimed at her and whoever the guy in tights was. Her expression hardened. She had a lot to say to them, she did...

Nightwing
The police filed around and pushed the reporters back as the paramedics come up to the girl.
"It'll be fine now, Miss," a blonde one says, looking up at me with blue eyes and smiling. "We'll take care of her."
I nod and walk off to the commissioner, tell him my story and go off again looking for Spades.

Cheer up, kid, you're going to be a star... Winnie's brave mask slipped a little after the guy in tights left, and the doctors crowded around. She glanced wide-eyed at another camera through the crowd. Reporters were shoving microphones. She wanted to dissapear again. Damn cameras...she let her hair slip around her like a cloak.

Hmm...what now?

As soon as NW finds out... well, maybe just a bit later, I'll bring in Queen again

blonde haired blue eyed nurse = someone....ende might get who....

The blonde nurse guides her away to an awaiting ambulence. "God, those reporters are always such vultures..." She mutters, closing the doors with a frown. But she turns back to the girl with a grin.
"Well now, doll face. Thanks to that lil' interuption Puddin didn't have his fun. But I think I'll go ahead and fix that..." She gives Winnie a dose of knock out gas. "Let's drive boys!" She calls to the front, tying up her hair and putting her jester's hat back on as the truck pulls out and goes off to the old club.
She picks up Winnie and skips in. "Oh Mr. Jay! I got a surprise for you!"

The Joker was leaning back in his chair, crowbar still in hand as he remembered the times he could just beat up Spades after a defeat. Ah, the good old days, too bad the broken toy had been so weak, a /pity/, really. He laughed anyway. Then he heard the pearcing sound of Harley's yell, and glanced over. "You caught the little street rat?" he asked, his scar mouth spreading into a smile as he stood up "Good girl, Harley"

Harley
I drop her on the ground none too kindly and skip over to Mr J. "Thank ya, Puddin. I got it jus' for you..."

The Joker smiled wider, showing his yellow teeth, before kissing Harley on the cheek quickly, then pulling away "What shall we do with the little street rat?" he chuckled "The crowbar, the laughing gas... or skip right to the main event?"

and unfortunately, by main event... he doesn't mean the final result. He MEANS the main freaking event. Sorry Winnie

Winnie began to stir on cue, eyes fluttering open sleepily. Ouch...then she looked around. Where...was she? She whistled something irritatedly to herself, then saw a sickeningly familiar clown face. She could have passed out again.

Harley
I giggle in delight, peaking over his shoulder at her. "I'm fine with anything, Puddin! Maybe the babies can have her?" I smirk and walk over, pulling her head up by her hair. "Nah. I say all of the above."

"The crowbar, the laughing gas, the main event, /and/ the hyenas?! Harley, that's despicable... I love it!" Joker just laughed for a few moments, watching the girl with cruel and wild eyes "We should tape it, this will be another great home video to share with Batsy! Memories for all!"

Oh jeez...after this I have a feeling Winnie's camera shyness will turn into a phobia.

Winnie's heartbeat had gone from barely there to racing a marathon in less than a minute. She struggled, trying to take her hair back. "What th' fuck did I do t' you?"

Harley
I grin at her. "Why, ain't that the funny thing about it? Nothing at all!" I giggle, dropping her again and grabbing the camera.
I look at it a moment. "This thing on? Oh, hi ya, B-man! How are ya? Still sulking in that cave?" I look back at the girl with a smile. "Oh! I got something to show ya!" I turn the camera at her giggling. "Ta-da! Your little birdy did a pretty effed up job of saving her, ya know."

Winnie winced and stared in surprise, then shot her gaze down to hide her face from the camera. Oh holy hell. Holy shit. Holy fuck this is bad.

Nightwing
My communicator rang and I half wanted to ignore it. I look at who it is and see Cissie’s name. Maybe she found something about Spades?
“Arrowette?” I answer. “Anything?”
“Nightwing I –” She breathes out, her voice full of emotion.
My eyebrows crease in worry. “Cissie, what is it?”
“Nightwing...Richard…” She whispers, “Spades. She’s dead.”
It was almost too soft to hear. I know I heard right though, but I didn’t want to believe it. “What?”
“Spades is dead!” She breathes out in a sort of sob.
I simply fall silent. Knowing Cissie, she would have thrown away every other possibility before accepting this one. I don’t want to know how. I don’t want to know when or where or who.
“Dick?” I barely hear her on the other side of the line. “What are –”
I hang up. Not possible. Spades can’t be dead. Despite all of the facts against that statement, I still tell myself it. She can’t be.
I throw my communicator away, not wanting to be found. Not yet. Not ever maybe. I refuse to accept she’s dead! She’s alive, I know it!
“Nightwing.” A new voice makes me turn. Shadow stands there, studying me. Her look is of sorrow.
“No,” I tell her. “Don’t try and tell me differently! She’s –”
“She is dead, Nightwing. Tell yourself anything else and you’ll be causing yourself more pain.”
But I’m so hopeless. “Have you seen it? Show me, please. I need to see her.” Alive. I need to see her alive…
“I can’t,” Rae says softly. “They got rid of her body.”
I wince at the word. “Who?”
“Does that matter anymore? She’s gone, Nightwing.”
“She can’t…” My voice wavers as I look upon her tortured. “Not Spades…”
Shadow looks away. “I’m sorry,” she whispers before disappearing into the darkness again.
Alone again, and suddenly the word takes on new meaning. My partner for six years, my love gone in the blink of an eye. It’s as if my stomach has suddenly turned into lead as I have to face the facts. She's been gone for so long without any word. All of this searching...
“Beth…” I murmur, as if calling out to her would bring her back. I feel tears and I swipe at my eyes, though they fill again just as quickly. I choke up before taking off, trying to run away from this reality.
The queen of my heart is gone.
