Dramatic Death Scenes!

Cricket watched the card, heart pounding. His side felt like someone was jamming a broken twig into it from the inside. After a long moment of contemplating, watching the red drip off that card, he was suddenly gone. Flitted out and around a corner, forcing the pain out of his mind.

I waited for a few moments before following. "Impressive, little bug, you can still scuttle away." I laughed, following him on the narrow ledge. He must have a few broken ribs, maybe a partly collapsed lung. I mean, my shoes WERE steel toed for a reason. Then I managed to corner him at the end of the thin ledge, where it ran into an unavoidable steel beam. There was nowhere else to go. Except down, of course "But can you fly?" I grabbed his collar and shoved him off, watching him fall... fall...then suddenly I leaned against the beam, my eyes closing for half a second... and when I opened them again I was Elizabeth, forced to witness the very last seconds of his fall, one more person I just couldn't save from /her/

There was no time to say goodbye, for last words, anything that he'd expected. One minute he was flying with the wind at his back, without a thought other than at least I'm dying young. The large clock of the city's hand moved to another minute, and it was time to move so I was on schedule. I flew down to his window, where there was no one looking, and slipped inside.
