Wishing stars

Tucker got out of the shower and pulled on his clothes, frowning as he realized he forgot his shirt. "Stupid shirts." He growled and walked from the bathroom in only his jeans, still toweling off the top half of him.

Lucia's eyes widened fractionally as Tucker came out without a shirt. She chuckled a little bit, though, and looked down. "Morning," she said.

"Morning," Tucker said with a small smile, seeming unphased by her seeing him without his shirt. He sighed, looking at the still healing gash in his arm as he debated wrapping it again before pulling a shirt on. "Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah, better than I have in two days," Lucia admitted. It felt like she left all of her bad energy at home and now she was away, she felt more peaceful. She stood and slid on a pair of shorts, which her t-shirt effectively covered. She slipped off the t-shirt, in her cami as she rooted through her bag for a shirt.

"You wanna help me with this?" Tucker asked as he held up a bandage and some bag balm. "And I'm glad you slept good. That means we're making progress."

"Sure," Lucia said, walking to his bed and taking his wrist. She pulled his out and helped him bandage up his arm with a feather light touch. "There," she said in a slightly whisper.

"Thanks," Tucker smiled at her, then looked back at her fingers as she finished tying it off. "Josie said I had to keep it wrapped, but I don't usually have time." He shrugged and glanced up at her. "You ready?"

Lucia held up one finger and shot back to her back, finding a lace pull over to wear over her black tank-top and then nodded. "I'm ready," she said, quickly braiding her hair messily.

Tucker chuckled as he watched her, pulling on a white tank top and packing everything else, slapping his beat up, grease stained Ford cap in place. He walked over and picked up her bag. "Can you check that we don't leave anything? he asked as he carried the bags out to the truck.

"Yeah," Lucia said, searching around their beds and then in the bathroom. Everything was all packed up and she folled him out. "Everything is all packed," she said.

Tucker smiled as he threw the bags behind the seat and helped her in from his side, figuring she could just slide over. "Alright, let's hit the road then." The cows were bellowing in the trailer behind them.

Lucia slid over next to him with a pleasant smile. She heard the cows behind them and her smiled grew a tiny bit more.

Tucker chuckled and smiled as he started the truck, the morning air cool and refreshing, the humidity making his skin feel clamy. He pulled out of the hotel and back onto the high way. They didn't have nearly as far to go this time.

Lucia slid back away from him and rolled down her window and undid her hair. It was her favorite feeling, the fresh air in her hair. She glanced at Tucker from the corner of her eye and smiled.

As the sun got higher and Tucker started to become more awake, he turned on the country music station, blaring it through the whole truck and began singing with it with the same southern drawl(sp?) that the singers had, his voice almost able to go as deep as Josh Turner's.

Lucia giggled a little bit, looking at him. He was better than he gave himself credit for. She hummed the song, her voice at least two octaves higher and chuckled.

Tucker was smiling widely, as he sang along happily. The time seemed to fly by and then that song came back on. She's My Kind of Rain. He smiled and winked at her as he sang along with it, feeling...stirrings.

Lucia blushed lightly and smiled back, listening to the lyrics more closely. Something about Tucker kept her mind off Ryder fairly well and she leaned back, her eyes still on him, though he watched the road.

Tucker sighed and ran a hand through his hair, still smiling a bit. He cleared his throat and glanced at her. "Guess what?" He said mysteriously, as if he had some great big surprise.

"Huh?" Lucia asked, raising an eyebrow. She quickly licked her teeth, making sure she didn't have anything in them. He was still smiling a little, so she assumed it wasn't something terrible he had to tell her.

"We're there." Tucker smiled as they came to the next town, taking the first exit off the interstate.

Lucia chuckled and raised her eyes brows. "Much faster than last time," she smiled. She looked around and then out her window. She had never been around these parts before.

Tucker pulled up to the stock yard that was about ten miles from the interstate. He parked out front and smiled, getting out. "You can come if you want, but I'm only gonna be a minute."

Lucia decided to stay in the truck as they parked and he got out. She folded her hands in her lap and yawned. She leaned her head against the window and waited for him to get back.
