A Midnight Swim

Kami didn't know there was a curfew and felt embarressed that the cop had caught them. She looked at jace sadly, "I guess I better go home."


This time Bryce saw what she was drawing and it was him she captured him perfectly. He smiled, "Wow I wonder who that good looking guy is. He seems pretty nice."

Jace nodded and kissed her cheek. "Meet me here tomorro afternoon." He winked at her and kissed her forehead. He turned and left with a smile.

Holden shook her head. "I have no idea." She laughed and looked at him. His eyes shocked her. "What color are your eyes?"

Kami walked away smiling and feeling giddy. She walked back to her rented hous on the beach when she got there the lights were all off. As usaul her parents didn't care that she was out all night with a boy. Kami changed into PJs then went to sleep excited for the next day.

Bryce had to think about it for a little while a dark green I think they are today. He couldn't be sure when they would change shades of green.

Jace got to his hotel and fell asleep. He dreamed of Kami and her lips. He smiled in his sleep.

Holden shook her eyes. "THey are a electric green right now..." She whispered. She pulled out a color pencil and saw that the color didnt match. She sighed. She could never match his eyecolor.

Bryce laughed, "Sorry as my sister says my eyes are one of a kind and you would have to mix colors in order to get the right shade." He bumped he a little to get her to lighten up. She could be so serious when drawing.

Holden sighed and smiled. "Sorry.. im very.. focused on my art and well I just... yeah.." She said with a faultering smile. She felt like a idiot for being quiet.

Bryce nodded, "Its okay i understand. I like watching you draw anyway your so focused when you are like you must get it perfect."

Holden laughed and nodded. "Yeah that sounds like me... I know.. im sorry... I dont mean to be so serious." She said closing her eyes. Her hair fell into her face and she sighed.

Bryce moved the hair from her face, "Nothing to be sorry for." He understood when he got into something he usaully only thought about that one thing till the job was done.

Holden smiled. "THank you.." She whispered feeling her cheeks get hot. She sighed and looked up at the moon. "I love the night..."

Bryce turned to look at the bright full moon. "Yeah something feels different about the night." He just realized his words sounded dorky and cliche but he couldn't take them back. This was like the movie click where he could redo events and skip others. Though he wished he had a remote like that.

Holden looked at him. "I agree.... I like the way the full is out... it remeinds me of when my dad would chase me in the yard and we would find fireflies."
She sighed and smiled. She missed her parents so much and she couldnt think.

Bryce faltered, hoping he wasn't bringing up bad memories. "I remeber at night my mother and I would lay under the stars gazing at them wondering what else was out there. She would make up these stories of a little alien that fell to earth to only make friends with humans." Bryce could feel the smile on his face and he felt his heart tug. He was glad that he could at least remember them.

Holden smiled a soft smile. "I remeber when my sister...." She stopped and felt tears comming. Her sister died of cancer last year.

Bryce frowned, "I'm sorry." He came closer to her and patted her back not sure how to make her feel better.

Holden looked up at him. "She died of... cancer last year... on my birthday.." She said in diffrent level breaths. Her heart had dropped to the pit of her stomache.

Bryce look at her knowing her pain of losing family but he never lost his siter. He couldn't imagine losing her, it was too painful of a thought. He didn't know what to say to her that could make her smile so he remained quiet.

Holden shrugged it off and looked up. "It's midnight... do you want to go home?" She asked not looking up at him.

Bryce grimced he forgot about his sister she was going to kill him. He nodded and got up. "I have to get back to my sister." He felt bad that he was going to leave her crying but his siter probally needed him.

Holden nodded and looked at him. "Thank you for comming..." She whispered. She went back to sketching not wanting him to go.

Bryce was torn but in the end his guilt over leaving Aurora won out. "See around." He turned quickly and left too afraid that he would change his mind and stay with her longer. He got back home only to see his sister glaring at him. "I'm sorry look I got caught up with this girl...." Her eyes brightened, "You were with a girl? Finally it is about time you get one." She smiled at him then left to go to bed. Bryce didn't even have time to tell her it wasn't like that but he was too tired so he went to sleep.

Holden stayed ontop of the building all night. Her sketchbook was soon filled with pictures of him in the mooonlight. Her mind was filled of just him and she quickly shook it off and she slept right on the building.
