A Dragon Rider's Heart

Very, very, very, very, *well you get the point* far away in another galaxie there's a world that's younger then the Earth. It's name is Eldurni. The place is in what Earth would call medival times, the only difference is that creatures that only live in our dreams and nightmares live here. Four kingdoms live their, the lands split off. Slavery still exists and the world is currently under Civil War. The Grifons believe that the Dragons and Pegasus stole their gold, and they're very greedy when it comes to shiny things, as are dragons, but they're too proud to steal from another kingdom. A mysterious young man had whispered it to them. Now Dragons/Pegasus, and Griffons/Hippogrifs are at war with each other. Why would the mysterious young man want the planet at war though? What happens when the prince sneaks out of the castle walls the join the other Dragon Riders at he fighting pits to practice? What happens when he meets a mysterious young girl there that he instantly gets attached to? What happens when he finds out she's the princess from the Griffons? Then to wrap things up, what happens when they're caught and taken as slaves for the Hippogriffs? The Riders are seperated from their Partners and they have to travel back to the Prince of Dragon's kingdom to reunite with them. They make friends along the way and they find out the reason for the mysterious yong mans reason for wanting a Civil War.

Azriel walked with Luchador out of the castle's walls to the fighting pits. Luchador's blue silver scales shined in the sun's light, his large size easily towering over everything in the village. The streets were large enough for two dragons to cross side by side and they made their way quitely to the fighting pits. They stopped to watch as two riders went at each other.

May ran her hand over Glen's beak, a smile on her lips. They had just defeated a rider and his partner. To her it wasn't a surprise because she was used to winning and used to fighting, but to some it was a big surprise. Just by looking at the pair, not many people would think that they were undefeated.

The announcer caught site of him and gave a low bow. "Anyone up for going against the pricne?!" He gestured towards hima and Luchador. Azriel growled, "I'm just here to watch today, Laka." He scowled at him and climbed upon Luchador's back settling between his neck and shoulders. He instantly relaxed, always feeling at home when he was with Luchador and to his surprise Luchador let out a challenging roar and took to the sky. Azriel scowled and pushed into Luchador's mind. "I said I didn't want to fight today, Luchador."

Luchador snorted flying in circles around the fighting pits. "We've been fighitng thieves and other unnoteworthy opponets this week. I want a real challenge. I can feel you'd like that too."


Azriel sighed. He had to agree with Luchador, he was itching for a better fight. He glanced below wondering who'd take the challenge. The other riders were looking anxiously at each other, wondering who'd take on the legendary rider.

May and Glen both looked toward the rider that was in the air. May could immediately tell he would be a worthy opponent and fun to beat, but she was unsure. She glanced toward Glen and pushed into his min. "What do you say, Glen? How would feel about taking on the 'legendary' rider? I think it would be fun, especially to beat him."

"I say let's take them on, May. If he's a legendary rider, he should be a challenge. And I must agree, it would be fun to beat him."

May smirked and climbed onto Glen's back, getting situated before saying anything. "We'll take on the prince," she stated simply as Glen took off for the sky, letting out a caw.

May was confident that her and Glen could come out victorious. She also knew that the two of them would probably be underestimated because they weren't as well known, but who knows, maybe the prince wouldn't underestimate them.

Azriel stiffened, seeing someone from Hippogriff flying into the sky. He was usually in his father's rooms, listening to the battle plans and he'd currently heard that the Hippogriffs had takens sides with the Griffens. He pushed it into his own mind that not all the Hippogriffs were bad so he wouldn't be tempted to not just beat her, but kill her.

His stomach rolled as Luchador folded in his wings and spun to the side to dive at the approaching riders. He didn't slash into them though, but pulled out of the dive and let loose a jet of blue flames. Azriel took the moment to take his sword out of its scabbard and swing a testing blow at the rider as Luchador did another spin, putting him upside down over her and then dove to the side and took to the air again.

May was surprised, having slightly underestimated him, but then her guard went up. May quickly took out her own sword, ready to defend herself and to attack. She quickly blocked his blow. This certainly was a challenge, one both May and Glen were enjoying.

Glen slowly moved closer to the rider, being slightly cautious and once they were close, May swung a blow at the rider. More than anything it was to test the rider's reaction skills and defense skills.

Azriel blocked her attack, and saw a chance to disarm her, but didn't wanting to prolong the fight.

Luchador pulled in his wings and fell slightly, but brought his tail up, slamming it into the Hippogrifs sensitive underbelly.

Once Glen was hit he lost some air and staggered slightly in the air. May pat his neck gently and they soon were back in the air completely. Her eyes were narrowed slightly as she watched the rider, waiting out his next move. Most likely, it would be best for her and Glen to defend and attack at the right times instead of blind attacks.

The heat from Luchador's last blaze of flame had caused his scales to sine dazzingly. He dove towards the other rider and partner, his talons spread wide. He was testing them right now. It'd been a while since he and his rider had fought a hippogriff for they usually left them alone since they lived far to the south.

Glen moved out of the way quickly, dodging the dragon. Both May and Glen continued to watch the rider and the dragon. Neither would attack until they had either figured out the rider and dragon's weakness or until they knew they could strike without either of them getting hurt. It was no longer just fighting it was now also strategy for may and Glen.

Luchador gave a slow smile, or at least one that a dragon could do. He already had their weakness figured out and started for the ground and landed.

Azriel wondered what Luchador was about, but didn't question the old dragon. He held his sword at the ready, though his face clearly stated his heart wasn't in the fight. Having your mother die two days before does that to a person.

Glen started to dive toward the dragon and his rider, thinking it was a perfect opportunity for attack, a perfect opportunity for them to possibly win.

Glen, stop what you're doing. It's probably a trap. May pushed into Glen's mind, causing him to stop diving and to take air again. But it would be such a perfect opportunity, May. Think about it for a minute, if they aren't planning something we could win possibly.
Enough, Glen. They are planning something, or at least the dragon is. Going down there would be asking to lose.

They stayed in the air, just watching the dragon and his rider, trying to figure out what they were planning.

Luchador's tail twitched in iritation, his piercing silver eyes following them.

Azriel smiled, finaly catching Luchador's plan. "Oui cowards. Come down here and fight!" Azriel's voice was taunting.

May's jaw clenched. If there was anything she hated, it was being called a coward. No one called her a coward and got away with it.

Don't listen to them, May, they're just trying to get to you.

I suppose you're right, Glen.

"Okay, so then we're cowards. But why not come up here and fight us? What do you have to lose?" May said.

"We've been flying all day. I'd like a ground challenge, less you're to chicken." He chuckled at the mention of chickens, for chickens can't fly.

May's eyes narrowed and she couldn't take anymore of the taunting and Glen felt the same. He dove down quickly toward the dragon, his talons extended and May had her sword ready, looking for perfect opportunity.
