A Dragon Rider's Heart

Luchador gave them a gleeful look as he turned on a dime and using his tail as a whip snaped them aside, sending them spinning.

They spun slightly and landed on the ground fine, surprisingly enough. Glen let out a angry caw and May's jaw clenched. Glen quickly moved closer, but more cautiously this time.

Azriel had made his way to the end of Luchador's tail and Luchador whipped it like a whip, sending Azriel flying towards the rider and partner. He rammed right into the rider, sending them both flying off her hippogrif and onto the ground. He put his sword to her throat as they landed and stopped that way, a victoruious smile on his lips as the announcer announcing their victory. "Nice try hippogriff girl." He rolled off of her and pulled her up with him. He then gave a small bow to her Partner. "You did well as well, Hippogrif." Luchador went to stand behind Azriel and bowed his head as well. "You both did well, for Hippogriffs."

May bit back a groan as she was thrown to the ground and the sword was pointed at her throat. They had loss. Once she was standing she looked at the rider. Glen moved up beside her and didn't do anything beside stand there, glaring slightly. He was moping over their loss. "Thank you. And I mus say you are pretty good dragon boy," she stated.

Azriel sighed. "Good enough to go out for a bite with? We could both use the food after that fight." Luchador smelled the air, already planning on getting a deer or two later.

May raised an eyebrow, not completely sure if she trusted him or not. She thought about it for a moment and finally decided that if need be, she could defend herself. "I suppose so, dragon boy," she said.

Azriel walked beside Luchador further into the village and motioned for the two to follow them. He went to a bakery and bought some nice tasting bread and brought some out to her. "Here you go. If you'd like, you could come to the castle tonight and join in the feast. All people lucky to be bonded to Partners are welcome." He spoke as he tore off a piece of bead for him to eat.

May and Glen followed the rider, letting some of her guard down since it seemed like she would be safe. "Thank you." She took the bread and tore a small piece off. "I'm not sure if I would be welcomed there, after all, there is all that stupid talk of war possibly happening which makes me your adversary," she stated simply.

Azriel scowled. "All are welcome until further notice. They wouldn't dare hurt a prince's guest." Luchador growled in agreement.

May sighed, knowing that if she wasn't the princess it would be slightly different, but she was the princess and knew it would cause trouble. "Trust me when I say that I wouldn't be welcomed, even if I was your guest."

Azriel sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Then allow me to offer you a place in the tavern to sleep tonight. You've got a long way home."

May sighed again and watched the rider. "That is incredibly sweet and polite of you, but I'm not sure I could do that. Granted I have a long way home, but it wouldn't bother me not to mention I would have Glen by my side."

Azriel sighed and shook his head. His training over the years had hamered into him to be polite to all. "Then allow me to escort you out of the kingdom. Not all of my people are so kind." His blue eyes darkened at that and he relaxed as Luchador nudged the back of his neck.

"Easy little one. The Griffons are at fault. Our kind are very offended that they would blame us for their missing treasure." A light puff of smoke curled out of his nostrils as he spoke.

May let out a slow sigh. "I would argue and say I can take care of myself, but you seem determined and persistent. I'm guessing that if I told you I could go by myself you would refuse anyway, so I guess I'll allow you to escort me out of the kingdom," she said.

Azriel gave a crooked smile before standing and leaning against Luchador. "Well, when you're ready to leave just give the word and I'll help. I'll even give you extra food for the rest of your journy."He frowned though and looked up in alarm as twelve of his father's nights zoomed over head on their dragons. Azriel noticed some large dark spots in the distance and he stiffend. Griffons. "Excuse me." The twelve dragons circled above, each one sending information into Azriel and Luchador's mind. Luchador stood as Azriel jumped onto his back and Luchador took off, the wind from his large wings knocking over people and objects.

May smiled and nodded. "Alright." She raised her eyebrow, incredibly curious about what was going on when he excused himself. Her eyes locked on the dragons on the air and her mind went over different possibilities. She then noticed the griffons in the distance and her smile faded. She continued to watch what was going on, wondeirng why the griffons were there.

Samahria flew on her trusty steed Azula. They flew high in the air circling around her kingdom.
Do we have to go back? Azula said in my head like a pouting child.
"Azula you know how father gets when we don't return." The truth was she didn't want to go back either. "Alright, lets go far away. Father can wait with his temper." They flew towards the Dragon kingdom. Samahria has never been there and decided that she would like to see what was so scary about the people there.
You do know that you shouldn't believe everything you hear.
She nodded and made her land somewhere.

Luchador zipped through the air and they slowed as they came upon the Griffons. The Griffons didn't slow and they let loose a volley of arrows. The dragons dodged them neatly, but returned to their V formation and they dove towards them, noticing this wasn't a meeting, but an attack. One of the small and younger riders, his dragon a purple, turned and went to warn the king as twenty more appeared in the distance.

Thelios frowned and jumped to his feet. Him and Thorn were taking a day off, and they were currently laying out in a field. Azriel had entered his mind and ordered him to come to the northern side of the kingdom. He jumped onto Thorn and they took off towards that way. He momentarily saw a Pegasus out in the distance but he ignored them and him and Thorn flew at a great speed.

May continued to watch what unfolded in the sky and frowned. She started to pace, not liking how the griffons were attacking like that. She wanted to help, but knew that she would be considered an enemy since she was from the hippogriff kingdom. She sighed heavily and ran a hand through her hair as she paced.
Calm down May, you don't want to end up causing trouble.

Azula folded in her big black wings waiting for what Samahria wanted to do.
Samahria looked around, "Where are we?"
I don't know.
"You don't know! What happened to your great sense of direction?"
Azula only shrugged. "Great now we are lost. Father is going to be so mad." She climbed back on Azula and they took to the air. She saw a dragon fly off in the distance. She ordered Azula to follow them.

Luchador gave a loud earsplitting roar and locked talons with one of the Griffons. They started faling towards the ground, their talons enter locked as the Azriel and the other rider struck at each other when they could. The dragon and griffon finally released their grip on each other as they neared the ground and spread their wings in time to avoid hitting the ground.

Thelios came upon the scene and he dove at a grinffon and landed on its back and griped its wings in his talons, the rider squeshed beneath him, not able to get his sword to strike at the dragon's sensitive underbelly. They got closer and closer to the ground and they released the griffon. The griffon tried opening its wings to at least slow the fall, but they hit the ground with a loud bang like lighting striking something.

Samahria and Azula came upon a fight between the dragons and griffinsons. Her inticts made her want to fight but she didn't know who to aid. So they landed and watched them fight. Azula paced wanting to fight. "Be patient girl. This isn't our fight."
