To Love Is Nothing

Jake - "Why can't we just be together, I don't care what Fate has to say about it," I say

Liz: I just bit my lip and turned to look at the ceiling. Jake hadn't asked for an answer, just eye contact.

Jake - I sighed, "Fine, if you want to throw it all away," I storm out.

Liz: I curled up into a ball and buried myself in my blanket. Now I was really alone.

Anastasia - "Alex, I have to go check on Liz, give me a moment," I say getting up and heading to her room.

Liz: I heard a knock on my door, but was in no mood to talk to anyone. I stayed silent - maybe they would think I wasn't here, and they'd go away.

Anastasia - "Liz, please open up," I say quietly.

Liz: I slid off my bed, opened the door, then ran back to my bed and burrowed deeper into my covers.

Anastasia - "Liz, what happened?" I patted her back sisterly

Liz: "Jake and I...broke up...?" I said into the pillow. Is that what had happened? We had a big fight and now he was mad at me - it sounded about right.

Anastasia - "Oh sweetheart!" I say sadly. "I'm so sorry." I knew how I would feel if Corrigan and I ... broke up? were we considered a couple?... but if we broke up I would be devastated and that was how she felt.

Liz: I just sobbed into my pillow. The thing was, Jake still loved me. And he shouldn't. He should be running away..."You should be getting to Alex's room, Anastasia. The plan starts tonight, right?"

Anastasia - "Are you sure, I don't want to leave you here like this," I say reluctant to go because of her state.

Liz: "I'm fine," I sat up and wiped away my tears. "Really, just go. We need to get this in motion if any of us are going to escape."

Anastasia - I nod. I go into Alex's room and see him lying on his bed with a book in his hands. "HI," I say.

Alex - I smile at Anastasia, "Hello."

Corrigan: Anastasia would be going to Alex's around now. I hoped the plan would work.

Liz: I got up and washed my face, which made me feel much better, though I was still upset. I packed a tiny bag, of things I absolutely needed to take with me when we escaped. I took the necklace Anastasia had bought me, my journal, and...I saw the rose Jake had given me. It was drying up now, sitting atop my dresser. I carefully placed it between two pages in one of my favorite books, and then put that inside my bag, too.

Anastasia - I got him to stand facing away from the door. "When did you become a vampire?"

Alex - "A very long time ago," I tell her.

Corrigan: I tried to distract myself with reading. But even my favorite books couldn't keep Anastasia off my mind.

Liz: I wished Jake and I hadn't fought. Then I wouldn't be alone, listening to the clock slowly tick away, as I waited for the escape. That was a selfish thought, though. Jake was better off without me. I bit my lip to hold back another batch of tears.

Anastasia - "Who turned you?"

Alex - "My sister."

Corrigan: I began to pace.

Liz: I had to keep myself from getting up and finding Jake, so I wouldn't go crazy. Tick tock, tick tock.

Anastasia - "Why would she do that," I wonder. When are you going to come? I wonder about Corrigan and send him that question.

Alex - "So I could live forever," I say obviously, "She saved me from death."

Corrigan: When you tell me to.

Liz: I braided and rebraided my hair, distracting myself.

Anastasia - Well... come in one minute, exactly I tell him. I look at Alex. "How often do you need blood?" I brush my hair off my neck and tilt it.

Alex - I stare at her veins... wanting her blood. I feel my fangs and step forward involuntarily."

Corrigan: Wow, not much of a warning. I sprinted down the six flights of stairs and kicked down the door to Alex's room. Just in time, because he was inches away from Anastasia's throat. I threw a punch at his skull.

Anastasia - I see Alex get knocked out and put my hair back down on my neck. I hug Corrigan, "Nice timing sweetheart," I smile and take the dagger out of it's holder on my thigh. I also take the vial I had for his blood.
