Camp Love Lake (Rated Mature b/c, hey, it's camp LOVE lake)

Claire: "And watch you, with her, everyday? Watch you be happy with her, kiss her, touch her? Like you used to with me? And how could we have a friendship when I can't even trust you?"

Kayden winced a bit at the venomous hate in her words. She had a point, though.
"Sorry, I was just trying . . . I can go now, if you want. I could leave camp, if it would make you more comfortable."

Claire: I smiled dryly. "And leave Elliot, the love of your life?" I said bitterly, then felt bad. "No, it's okay," I said softly. I gulped. "I already tried to go home myself, but Daddy can't get me. And I can't let you leave, this is probably your last summer with her, isn't it? It's just...hard. I..." I shook my head with a sigh.

"Actually, she /is/ the love of my life."
Kayden considered stopping there, but went on.
"Yeah, you can hate me for cheating on you with her, because that's perfectly reasonable. That doesn't mean you can be a real bitch about it, Claire. I know it was wrong, and I know you're upset, but stop being such a . . . I don't know. Stop being so annoying."
The minute all that left his mouth, Kayden regretted it. He knew he was being hard on her, but didn't she deserve a bit of it, for being so mean? He hoped so, at least.

Claire: "How am I being a bitch about it?" My voice was quiet, and I was looking up through my eyelashes, sadness in my blue eyes. "And wow, Kayd, it's great to know that our relationship...it didn't mean anything to you, did it?" The last part was less than a whisper.

Emerson: I leaned closer to Fable, our foreheads touching. "Oh, Fable," I chuckled. "I've missed you," I grinned.

Elliot I watched as they talked back and forth and the least i could say was that she didn't look completely pissed-tear-off-his-head-angry at him. I chuckled to myself and turned my back, laying back on the bench and closing my eyes against the sun.

Fable: I smiled and closed my eyes. I leaned in a bit closer and said in a quiet voice, "I've missed you, too."

"You're being a bitch about it by trying to flirt with my friend, you're being a bitch about it by calling Elliot a whore, and . . ."
Kayden was running out of reasons. It didn't add up, he knew the biggest jerk here was himself. Feeling like an idiot, he ran out of things to say. He'd never been good with words.
Ignoring her last accusation about their relationship, he said, "You're 'Daddy' should have just taken you home. You don't belong here, Claire."
Frustrated, he turned around and stormed away, and not to Elliot, though he wanted to, he went to the pond.

Claire: I caught his arm, though, with a frown. "I never called her a whore, I called her a man-stealer, which is the /truth/. And I flirted with your friend because...well, why is any of your business anymore, anyway?!"

Emerson: I smiled, closing the last bit of space between out lips, but I was careful not to push my limit any farther than I was going now.

Kayden shook her off.
"Leave me alone, alright?"
Still feeling stupid for having nothing else to say, he turned and pushed her off of him. Not hard to make her fall over, nothing abusive, just to make her stumble back. She was like an annoying bee in his ear, always countering him and making him look like an idiot, which he was at the moment.
Kayden ran forward, just wanting to be away from it all.

Fable: I smiled against Emerson's lips and kissed him. It started out a very timid kiss, then it started to be deeper. And I was thinking, Finally! After all this time...

Damn?

I gotta go make some brownies. The brownie fairy is hustling me!

I don't know, it's just like...he doesn't even care about Claire. Not one bit.

(Meanwhile, after laying in the sun too long, Elliot is served with butter and a wedge of lemon. JK...)

Emerson: I cupped the back of her head and she rolled over, nearly laying on me. I chuckled and pulled back a little. "Wow."

Fable: I opened my eyes. "Oh, uh, sorry," I started to roll off of him but he caught my arm. I stopped and looked at him, worried that I'd gone a tad too far.

Yeah, Kayden /is/ a jerk to Claire. I'm writing it from a guys POV, and they're not nearly as sensitive and feely as girls are, so that's why.
