Untouchable MxT

Trenton sat down beside her with his own and gave a small nod. He muttered a small prayer over the food and then began to eat. "Is it good?" He asked.

Mika nodded slowly and swallowed her first bite. "Yea, it's fine. Tastes great." anything would taste ok after not eating for a few days. She continued nibbling at it, trying to savor the taste and feeling of eating something.

Trenton finished his and made two more skewers, cooking them and giving one to her. "Eat, there is more than enough," he said quietly, his eyes on the mouth of the cave. His thoughts continued to drift towards the shadowed valley, the one place he was terrified of, but was going in to head first. He felt like an idiot because only fools would go there, but he knew he had to go.

Mika nodded and took the food from him. She couldn't fathom of what trouble might be ahead of them. She was just happy to have Trenton alive. She would feel safer if she was able to be closer to him, but she was worried about hurting him.

Trenton kept his eyes on the mouth of the cave, not offering up any conversation. He was to lost in thought to even focus on one, let alone start one. He sighed and cooked the rest of the meat, his eyes continuing to flicker to the mouth of the cave. You couldn't trust the night. It was filled with shadows.

mika looked down and finished the. She shifted closer to him slowly and sat as close as she could without hurting him. "I love you." She told him softly, hoping he already knew that. She would do anything for him, hence her being in a cave with her in teh dead of night.

Trenton wrapped his arm around her, careful to keep the clothes between them. "I love you too, Mika," he murmured softly. "With all I am." His eyes continued to search the shadows and he gave her a gentle, comforting squeeze. "You should sleep," he said, glancing at her. "We'll be leaving in the morning."

Mika nodded and looked at her hands again. She silently cursed at the council but couldn't do anything about it. Maybe one of these days she would learn to control it. Hopefully she will learn to repress the darkness that wanted to come to the surface.
The small ran girl curled into a smallish ball next to him as she slept. Her hair fell into her face, and her legs were pulled to her chest.
