To Love Is Nothing

Liz: I smiled slightly, and felt horrible for it. How could I do this to Jake? How could I do this to someone I loved? "Tell them I'll be out in ten minutes..."

Corrigan: I grimaced. "If that's really a job you'd like. Just no working at Hooters, okay?"

Jake - "Got it." I say and head out.

Anastasia - "It isn't much fun, but it pays the rent," I sigh. I'd never work at Hooters.

Liz: I brushed through my hair, and realized I hadn't grabbed any other clothes. I vaguely remembered Jake mentioning something about shopping a couple days ago, but I knew that wouldn't be happening now. I thought about getting a job, as I walked out to meet the others.

Corrigan: "We don't need to worry about money, but I think it would be a good idea to have jobs. To keep our minds active."

Anastasia - "I don't want you paying for everything," I say truthfully, "I'll feel useless. Hey Liz, we're talking about getting jobs."

Jake - I glance at her.

Corrigan: "Fine," I muttered back to Anastasia then looked up at Liz with a smile.

Liz: I glanced at Jake, smiled a very small smile, then looked to Anastasia and Corrigan. "Yeah, I'll be needing one...I don't really know what I'm good for, though."

Anastasia - "You could work at the pet store!" I suggest.

Jake - She'd be good at that.

Liz: "Ooh, that would be fun!" I giggled, feeling more like my old self. And that gave me the courage to say something directly to Jake. "What are you going to do for a job?"

Jake - I thought about it for a second and smiled, "Mechanic, I've worked on old cars my whole life."

Liz: I nodded, and looked down at my feet, my courage to speak for some reason vanishing again.

Corrigan: I cleared my throat. "Alright let's go. There's a pizza place, a chinese place, and a diner. Where shall we go?"

Anastasia - "I vote the diner." I say.

Jake - "Whatever the girls want."

Liz: Dammit! Why couldn't Jake be a jerk? It would be so much easier that way. "Diner's fine."

Corrigan: I led everyone to the little diner down the street - Joe's Diner, to be exact. The neon sign flickered, and I had a feeling this place had been here awhile. I held open the door, and a bell chimed.

Anastasia - I smiled looking at the diner, maybe I could ask the waitress or waiter if there was a dance studio and where the pet place was.

Corrigan: We were led to a booth, and I slid in on one side with Anastasia, which accidentally forced Jake and Liz on their own side. Oh well.

Liz: I looked over the menu...

Anastasia - I decided on what to eat quickly. I stuck with the basics, a hamburger and fries with Dr. Pepper.

Jake - I decided to get ribs. I'd always liked those.

Liz: I wasn't very hungry, so I just got a shake.

Corrigan: I tapped my fingers on the table after we had all ordered - I had gotten the same as Anastasia, coincidentally. "So...after this we could maybe split up for the night, just so we can all get things done. Anastasia and I can go see if there's a dance studio, and you and Liz can go check for a pet store, and a place in need of a mechanic."

Anastasia - I frowned slightly, "That's a good idea and all...but... I wanted to pick out my puppy..."

Jack - "How about Liz and I got look for a place in need of a mechanic while you two do what you gotta do and we'll meet at the pet store," I suggest.

Corrigan: I nodded "Okay, sounds good." Then the food arrived and everyone was comfortably silent as we ate.

Anastasia - As the actress passed again I stopped her, "Excuse me, but do you know if there is a dance studio nearby?"

Actress((lol)): "Yes, there's one just down the street."

Corrigan: I squeezed Anastasia's hand. "Great," I quickly paid for the food before anyone could stop me, then stood, ready to go to the dance studio.

Anastasia - "Thank you," I call as we go out of the diner and head to the studio.

Jake - "So, you ready to go?" I ask Liz

Liz: I looked up at Jake with a nod, then looked down at my shoes again as we walked.

Corrigan: "Hm, so what kind of dance would you want to teach?"

Jake - I finally found a mechanics shop and walked in ,"Hi, I'm Jake, I'm new here and looking for a job..." I say.

Anastasia - "Contemporary or ballet," I say, "either is good for me."

Liz: They said there was an open position, and this made me happy. Jake was meant to be a mechanic - it was part of his lifeline. It seemed my old self liked to pop up in spurts, which made me grin at Jake's achievement, and give him a high five.

Corrigan: The woman at the dance place said there was an open teaching position.

Anastasia - "Do I have to audition to be a teacher?" I wonder.

Jake - "Thank you, when may I start?"

Corrigan: The lady answered yes, and that Anastasia could have an audition tomorrow.

Liz: Tomorrow, the man said. When we left the mechanics shop, I was bubbling in excitement, and impulsively gave Jake a hug. But then I took a few steps away and shook my head. I couldn't do that.
