What Goes Bump in the Night

Lucas's eyes widened slightly at the answers, and he kinda gave a sheepish smile. He actually felt a bit guilty for asking when he heard Killiam's answer.
"That's... too bad," he said after a moment. "It'd be nice if it weren't like that..."
If only people were more accepting of their kind, then things would be different, and much better than they were currently.

Killiam gave him a smile and turned to Hazel. "Hazel, why don't you tell Lucas the next step."

Milina nodded and concentrated, but no matter how hard she did, she couldn't shift, not even her ears. She peeked through one of her eyes at Caelan and then opened her eyes. "It's not working."

"Right." Hazel said, scratching the back of her neck slightly, but glad for the subject change. "Well, one thing I would like you to try, Lucas, is use your magic without your staff. Obviously I don't expect you to do that right of the bat but..."

Caelan have a slight half-frown. "Really?" He questioned simply.

Killian nodded and turned to Lucas. "I agree, I think it will help to teach you how to control it without that and will help you blend in easier."

Milina nodded, frustrated with herself. "It may have something to do with the fact that I've never shifted before..."

"Exactly." Hazel agreed, making a small motion towards Killiam. "Though I don't expect that right away."

"Ah." Caelan understood now. "That's actually...a hard thing to describe." He admitted.

Lucas gave a sheepish smile as he glanced down at his staff. For a moment he just attempted to figure out how to explain himself before he began speaking.
"It's not that I can't preform magic without my staff," he began slowly. "It's just that... when I don't use something to focus the magic, I tend to be unable to control the amount, and I use entirely too much."

A small smile developed on Hazel's lips. "Right. My goal is get you to control it by yourself. Eventually." She really couldn't promise anything, though. Too early to tell.

Lucas looked up from the staff with a happy smile.
"That would be really great," he replied. "I'd definitely be less suspicious walking around if I didn't have a huge stick with me."

Milina sighed and walked over to the nearest chair and sat on the arm, running a hand through her hair. "I can keep working on it, but from the way it sounds, it seems like it will take a while to learn how to shift."

Killiam smiled and started to relax again, wanting to become one with his surroundings again so he could remember what it was like when he was a young paranormal, learning everything he could do.

Caelan gave a small smile. "It's all right. Doesn't really matter how long it takes, as long as you achieve it."

Hazel smirked a bit. "It'd just be a tad less suspicious." She agreed half jokingly.

Milina gave him a smile and nodded in understanding, vowing to herself that she would be able to shift within 2 weeks.

Caelan gave another smile before glancing at the others and then at the time. "We have to be heading out soon." He announced simply.

Hazel rolled her eyes a bit, "He's practically all about business."

Killiam chuckled once he was back in the present and fully aware of what was happening and not in his memories. "But he's right."

"True." Hazel agreed simply, getting up now. "Well, we better get a move on, then."

Milina walked into the room as the three were getting up off the floor. She looked around, taking everything in. Milina was kind of excited to be doing something with her powers, she had been wanting to use them like this for so long.

Killiam stood, brushing himself off. "Are we all ready then?"

"Yep." Hazel answered and Caelan gave a slight nod himself. "Let's do this." She said as they all started walking out of the house.

Lucas hoped to his feet and made sure he had everything he needed. He then excitedly followed them, his staff held in his hands.

(Sorry, I would post more, but I'm not sure what else to add. v.v I really am sorry about not posting for so long.)

Hazel glanced back at every one else and half-grinned. She made sure they kept together as they weaved through the crowd and made their way towards the building near the armory.

(Yeah, I know how that is. Senior year's getting kinda tough And it's all good, no problem if the post is "small")
